A small note: With LMCE you can mix and match your home automation equipment. You can have 95% of your home use Z-Wave, and for the last 5% use some X-10 stuff, where the X-10 disadvantages like speed are not that big of a deal. I, for one, started with X-10 in my home theater room, where speed is no issue. The rest of my home will receive either Z-Wave or X-10. A Z-Wave switch sends a command to LMCE. LMCE in turn switches on the X-10 light.

That's the beauty of LMCE.

imho, the board of the Popcorn Hour, which is used in various forms in different boxes, has a lot of potential as a media director. HDi for example bundles it with a Blu Ray drive in a nice enclosure (http://hdi.co.il/fullhd_players/). And the pure board (without any enclosure), can be had for fairly little money, 250EUR, iirc. You have HDMI, Component, S/P-DIF, USB and more connectors available.

I am not too happy with message boxes appearing on the MDs as well.

But you really should include your TV into the LMCE picture. It is SO nice, to have LMCE take care of turning on, tuning in, and adjusting the TV set to each program, and adjusting the receiver based upon listening to music, or watching a DVD. That's what LMCE is about. To have control over the environment, without the need for other remotes etc.

Regarding message boxes: There is an option to only show some messages on an Orbiter. You might want to play with that.

+Not starting device 43 Bluetooth Dongle - binary "LaunchBluetooth_Dongle.sh" is not found.

Does this need to be logged as a bug against 8.10?

Yes, it should be filed as a bug. Plugging in a bluetooth USB stick, should automatically install the pluto-bluetooth-dongle. If it does not, it is a bug, imho

Just a small note.

During our LinuxTag 2008 adventure, some guy came to me, and asked how we achieved synchronization. And I told him, we don't.

After a bit chatting, he said, they have been trying to achieve synchronized audio for a couple of years, and still have not had success.

That does not help if it is a static DVD menu, does it.

totallymaxed and simon_b are probably in VDR country. And you are probably in MythTV country. VDR does not care about where you store the recordings.

Having a bunch of X-10 stuff lying around and installed, the difference between X-10 and things like Z-Wave is speed. It takes 1-2-3 to turn on a light with X-10. It is near instantaneous with Z-Wave. If you think about using a technology for every switch/light in the house, Z-Wave (or KNX/EIB) is a perfect choice.

You can send any command. Question is, what would you like the user to select on the orbiter.

Each RS-232 command can be as complex or as simple as you like.
