Ik kende Richard niet persoonlijk alhoewel hij virtueel mij te hulp heeft gestaan, ik wens zijn familie en vrienden sterkte met dit grote verlies

I did not know Richard in person although he helped me out virtually, I wish his family and friends strenght with this great loss.

Same here, but did not notice as I always tend to go to 192.168.80.1:9000. Maybe a ticket would be the way to go?

Installation issues / Re: Video not playing on MD
« on: February 14, 2011, 04:44:46 pm »
Hey Chris,

check the xine/mplayer log in /var/log/pluto.

I had the same (media only playing for a brief second) when the rights of the files on my samba share did not allow lmce to play the files. You will see that in the log....
This is for music and dvd's and so on. The playback of m2ts/mkv etc i haven't tackled yet.

If the system freezes in Mythtv (that is where I had the problems) just add pci=nomsi to the kernel boot line.

Chris,

If there are no logfiles for xine or mplayer I really question the status of your installation, I know that m2ts and mkv files generate problems as xine/mplayer do not use vdpau atm. But mpg and iso/dvd files should be happily playing.

I would try to rebuild the MD from the webinterface or delete it and build it new again.

The samba share I was talking about is located at another server which serves multimedia to lmce.

Maybe just as a side note. I have got Linuxmce running as a VM but with access to Hauppauge PVR cards in the host. You can find my notes in:

Good work, you should post a pic when you have it up I would like to see that.

I was tempted to put an older laptop upside down under the cabinets in the kitchen so I could fold it up out of the way but wondered about it being upside down

We'll it took a bit of time but there it is, one up side down display of LMCE.

I've editted /etc.pluto/PostStart.sh from:

Code: [Select]
/bin/bash
nvidia-settings -a "SyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoTextureSyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoBlitterSyncToVBlank=1"

to
Code: [Select]
/bin/bash
nvidia-settings -a "SyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoTextureSyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoBlitterSyncToVBlank=1"
xrandr -o inverted

so now I can hang my monitor from the ceiling without having to buy a fancy vesa mount as I have drilled two holes in the stand  ;D

I did change xorg.conf with the statement Option "Rotate" "Inverted" which indeed flipped over the display. At the time the LMCE system is booting you see the messages up side down, but in the end I was stuck with just the cursor, which was at leastupside down. No interface at all, and no error messages I could find.

Hello to all,

at the moment I am trying to change the orientation of the display on one of my MD's (Foxconn netbox nT330i + 19" 1440*900). This because the display will hang up side down in the end.

Although I am able to change the orientation when I am in the desktop (terminal > xrandr -o inverted) and LMCE interface flips as well, I want it to start it up like that without having to go to the desktop.

I am wondering where I should place the script or change one, because all of the ways I found with google are based on starting an Xsession.... and they do not work.

TIA

I presume you followed the wiki,

are you using the HDMI output? Can you list the NVidia driver version. Did you reload the router?

It turned out that after installation of nvidia 195 there was another issue: mythtv was gone.

I decided to rebuild the md, but before starting up the md for the first time to make adjustments according to the wiki and replacing the nvidia-install.sh script in /usr/pluto/bin with the one offered by Merkur2k in #linuxmce:

http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/browser/branches/LinuxMCE-0810/src/BootScripts/nvidia-install.sh?format=raw

Booted the MD and...... tatatata its in working order again.

Basically as far as I can see now the MD was stuck on nvidia 173 and that has no support for HDMI audio so hence no sound.

Got a bit further with the help of Merkur2k. Used the wrong nvidia-install.sh script and so my version of Nvidia was stuck on 173. Now with the new script I am.... still stuck on 173:

My system is ION based but according to the script (afaiks) because I tried a few lines on the commandline does not contain a NVidia card

Users / (Solved )HDMI sound on ion based Foxconn nT33i u/s (update 23579)
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:47:50 pm »
Hello to all,

I suffered a meltdown of my core just before the weekend and did rebuild using the net install script (Update 23579). Had a bit of trouble with nvidia-install.sh but that was resolved by using the file from changeset 23588.

Now when rebuilding my MD based on Foxconn nT330i (ion) I can't get sound over hdmi going. Last time (about a month) ago it was nothing more then choosing the right option in the AVWizard (HDMI) and unmuting alsa channels. Now I can get it to work. Even went into destop and put all the sound preferences on HDMI and unmuted the lot. Before I start tearing down my new build, can anybody give some hints to see if I have forgotten something?

What I did is written down in http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Foxconn_nT330i
