Users / Re: Combine LinuxMCE with non-LinuxMCE MythTV station?
« on: December 22, 2009, 08:41:10 pm »
I have tried this once with 7.10 on a more recent version of Mythbuntu. I however got into the situation where the Mythbuntu station upgraded the backend database of the 71.0 installation, which after that never worked again like it should. Don't know if there is a way to avoid those unwanted upgrades, but make sure you have a backup before foolin' around  ;D.

Rgds,

Han

Well,

I took this a bit further.

Step 1) As a test measure I build a 7.10 system to give it a try with the new ZWave appl (according to the wiki: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Z-Wave). Exactly the same behaviour and the same errors.

Step 2) Downloaded mControl for Windows (http://www.embeddedautomation.com/EAHAmControlDownload.htm). In the software is a nice little util to speak to the ZCU010 after you install the driver (http://www.smarthus.info/support/download/zwave/zwave_usb_1_6_20.zip. I then performed a reset on the ZTH200, programmed it with the HomePro lightswitches I have and copied it over to the ZCU010 and this time without any problems  ;D. After this I plugged the ZCU010 back into the core and after a few reloads........   :D IT WORKED. The core generated the childs and I was able to put them into a room and control them! In 10 minutes I had made an event that dimmed the lights when watching a movie, yehhhh... Rockin..

So the above proves at least my equipment is working. So this means either I did something wrong copying the setup to the core, the firmware I have on the ZCU010 is behaving differently as Linuxmce is expecting or nobody has tested this yet  ??? ???

Hari,
can u help out with some things I can try and maybe get things up and running

I've been building a system aroiund 8.10B and now beta2 just to get the hang before replacing my 7.10 system.

I have run into problem with the ZWave part. After adding the Homepro ZCU010 to the core everything looks normal (as far as I can see).
When I try to copy the config from the controller to the core I end with:

Anybody any clues or options?

Same here, after having  a working beta1 setup (net) decided to upgrade, which borked my test system. Downloaded the beta 2 iso which is, during installation, complaining about missing packages (xine etc)

Thom,

of course you are right, but I was taking baby steps for now. Hopefully next I will be able to make it supported in whatever way (with possible help  ::)
As far as myself concerns the story continues..

I have edited the wiki after some factfinding myself, the 0x0008000 quirk did not do it for me as well, 0x0002000 worked like a charm however and I love the pad  ;D. I can say I am very pleased with it because it gives me a keyboard in a decent size without losing the multimedia options.

Users / Re: Best practice Dutch Digital TV Providers
« on: May 18, 2009, 01:11:30 pm »
As my new house is becoming more and more my house, after intense construction,
I have finally come to the stage of ordering ISP + COAX.
As I would like to have digital television, and I am very scared of ordering the wrong system.
My research shows for instance that the wired KPN system is very restricted, and wireless system not an option.
Without reinventing the wheel I would like to ask Dutch users of LinuxMCE the following.
  • Wich digital television system are you using
  • Are you happy with it?
  • Did everything work out of the box?
  • Which equipment did you use?
Maybe we can make a wikipage from your/our findings.

1) UPC analog
2) Yes, I would not say its the same as digital but my recorded tv is near to perfect
3) Nope, had to setup Myth which is not difficult if you have done about a thousand times before :-)
4) Using PVR-500 & PVR-150

I use http://code.google.com/p/tvgrabnlpy/wiki/Installatie and have added the channels manually after the initial run (takes about 10 minutes)
What i know is that finetuning Myth on recording levels and so on can give you a better experience.

Users / Re: Subtitles gone on one MD, but not on the other??
« on: March 29, 2009, 12:33:32 pm »
Rebuild did not help as well, so I deleted the whole MD from the web interface. After that booted the MD and made a shiny new build. That worked at least. My conclusion so far: corrupted MD.

Users / Subtitles gone on one MD, but not on the other??
« on: March 29, 2009, 08:53:49 am »
Was wondering if somebody has seen this before: out of the blue my livingroom MD stopt showing subtitles. When I play the movie on another MD, voila subtitles available. Moving the movie from the working MD to my livingroom MD -> subtitles disappear  ???

So I will do the obvious because I think maybe the MD has corrupted itself: MD reboot (done, no result); core reboot (done, no result); rebuilt MD (today).

But still: Has anybody encountered this before?

Andrew,

as I am only a starter on SVN could you help me where to find more info on how to patch my system so I get rid of the enormous album list. I do not want to wreck my current setup :-) but I would like to be able to play an album with a single click.

Many Thanks

Han
