Users / Solved: Updates & 7970-> proxy-orbiter segfaults
« on: July 16, 2011, 09:31:52 am »
Hi all,

haven't done update for a while because the system was running ok. Now in a situation where I had to rebuild on of my MD ended in the situation where it keeps rebooting due to the nvidia script. As I know it was solved in an update I went ahead and updated the system (core & MD's. All went ok but the orbiter on the 7970, it was showing the "Loading, please wait" screen and alternativly "Loading....." and "Requesting" line beneath it - forever.

Went ahead and did:
- full regen and reload
- full regen/reload again followed by a core reboot & phone reboot
- deleted phone, rebooted core and ..... connect the phone to power again.

there the other fun starts, because somehow the phone is still known in Asterisk its registered. Deleted the extension in FreePBX and it keeps on working  ???
LMCE however does not detect a new phone... So no orbiter.

Users / Setting up 2nd entertainment area with SqueezeSlave
« on: July 12, 2011, 09:00:31 pm »
Hi all,

I have got a kitchen with a MD and a set of speakers connected to a different PC running Squeezeslave. I have made 2 media scenarios in my kitchen, the one for the MD are automatically filled, the ones for the squeezeslave have to be manually made.

That is where I get stuck: I only get the option "MH Play Media" and not "Show File List" as it does under the Audio scenario for the MD.

Any hints?

Users / (Solved) Changing display orientation
« on: January 23, 2011, 03:32:42 pm »
Hello to all,

at the moment I am trying to change the orientation of the display on one of my MD's (Foxconn netbox nT330i + 19" 1440*900). This because the display will hang up side down in the end.

Although I am able to change the orientation when I am in the desktop (terminal > xrandr -o inverted) and LMCE interface flips as well, I want it to start it up like that without having to go to the desktop.

I am wondering where I should place the script or change one, because all of the ways I found with google are based on starting an Xsession.... and they do not work.

Users / (Solved )HDMI sound on ion based Foxconn nT33i u/s (update 23579)
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:47:50 pm »
Hello to all,

I suffered a meltdown of my core just before the weekend and did rebuild using the net install script (Update 23579). Had a bit of trouble with but that was resolved by using the file from changeset 23588.

Now when rebuilding my MD based on Foxconn nT330i (ion) I can't get sound over hdmi going. Last time (about a month) ago it was nothing more then choosing the right option in the AVWizard (HDMI) and unmuting alsa channels. Now I can get it to work. Even went into destop and put all the sound preferences on HDMI and unmuted the lot. Before I start tearing down my new build, can anybody give some hints to see if I have forgotten something?

What I did is written down in

Users / Setting up MD with Foxconn nt330i for optimum video (HD)
« on: November 27, 2010, 12:38:38 pm »

I have set up a new md (foxconn nt330i) with dual core atom and ION nvidia chipset. I have overcome the troubles of a not supported network interface so the md is up and running now. I am using HDMI at 1080p including sound over HDMI, also see

Next step is to get the performance to the level it should be, ie i guess using VDPAU. There i run into a little problem as setting up VDPAU only makes things worse as far as I can see. Searching on the forum gives me a enormous amount of hits, but really no overview of the status of VDPAU, Xine, Mplayer combined with mt2s and mkv.

Is anybody able to tell me the last status or more maybe show me the way to really get the md upto speed?

Users / Weborbiter does not show DVD interface anymore
« on: November 05, 2010, 10:55:58 pm »
Hi all,

have there been any changes to the weborbiter lately? For some reason when I have a DVD menu on my TV, my weborbiter does not show it automatically anymore, but have to press DVD options which sometimes works. As far as I can remember it just to work until recently. I have updated the system to the latest changes (23388).

Users / Xine subtitles on ripped iso files
« on: October 22, 2010, 01:15:39 pm »

I have a long standing issue with DVD subtitles on LinuxMCE. As long as the DVD (as iso in the media dir) has a full menu, I am able to select subtitles through the DVD options menu.

Now for the DVD's that have been ripped and have no menu at all, the DVD options menu does not show any subtitles

1) As Xine is used to do the play back I went along  checking on my laptop: in the xine menu the subtitle shows as subtitle nr 1 (Netherlands) for the same DVD, after selecting it the subtitle shows.
2) Because LCME is capturing all the keyboard strokes the "!" and "," keys (which normally rotate through the subtitles) are not arriving within Xine-player hence no change.
3) Using the webmin interface I used the "send command to device" option to send a key stroke to the Xine-player:
Code: [Select]
08      10/22/10 13:11:06.195           Received Message from 0 (unknown / ) to 191 (Xine Player / keuken), type 1 id 28 Command:Simulate Keypress, retry none, parameters: <0x6b87cb90>
08      10/22/10 13:11:06.195             Parameter 26(PK_Button): ! <0x6b87cb90>
08      10/22/10 13:11:06.195             Parameter 41(StreamID): 1005 <0x6b87cb90>

No result.

4) Using the above I also used the "subtitle" option:
Code: [Select]
08      10/22/10 12:58:56.923           Received Message from 0 (unknown / ) to 191 (Xine Player / keuken), type 1 id 141 Command:Subtitle, retry none, parameters: <0x6b87cb90>

08      10/22/10 12:58:56.923             Parameter 41(StreamID): 1005 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.925           Socket::ReceiveData 0xad198fb0 failed, bytes left 0 start: 25220000 1: 0 1b: 0 2: 0 2b: 0 m_Socket: 165 Incoming_Conn Socket 165 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.925           Socket::ReceiveString2 ReceiveData failed m_Socket: -1 Incoming_Conn Socket 165 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.926           TCPIP: Closing connection to -1003 (Router Dev #0) 0xad198fb0 m_Socket: -1 <0x6b87cb90>
05      10/22/10 12:58:56.926           Router::RemoveAndDeleteSocket 0xad198fb0 -1003 <0x6b87cb90>

No result either.

I am running out of options and I do not want to use another tool (XBMC etc) so if somebody has got any direction I would be grateful!!

Users / MD going into suspend instead of shutdown
« on: August 12, 2010, 10:15:57 pm »

For no reason one of my MD's did not shutdown when powering it of from the power menu. No display anymore but the system still runs... a bit, ie powerlight is on but no interaction with lan, keyboard or monitor. Holding the on/off button for some time does the job.

About 2 days ago I noticed that shortly before the display disappears I saw the word "suspend". So I performed a shutdown from the CLI and even a reboot. All working ok but it looks like the md shutoff button in the power menu brings it into suspend in stead of shutting down the whole MD.

When booting I always get the question "reload router?" as per

No clue how to get it out of suspend modus. Maybe somebody can shed some light?

edit: saw the following in the updates list:
Update 2010-08-02 23227
pluto-app-server (145,126) - Do proper check to determine if suspend is supported

Could there be any relation?

Users / Door intercom solution wanted
« on: August 09, 2010, 06:00:23 pm »
Hi all,

my ISDN pabx has finally "almost" died. So I am now seriously considering to swap all over to the Asterisk implementation of LMCE. However, there is still one small problem; i've got a door unit which passes on a press on one of the buttons to the pabx which in its turn will rings the phones in the house with a specific ring interval.

Now my question: What can be arranged re implement my doorsystem but now based on LMCE and without costing a fortune (I think 300 euro for a doorbell is a fortune). Maybe you can tell what and how you use it, so I can learn from that.

I have got a door unit with button and a whole printboard turning it into a "xyz" protocol on a little flatcable that is hooked up to the pabx. Reuse is possible. I am still trying to find the protocol it uses.

Users / xine and mpeg file 1280x720 with dolby 5.1
« on: July 30, 2010, 07:14:49 pm »
Hi all,

I have received a series of mpg files from a friend with a HBO serie within. If I play the file on my laptop (Lucid) with xine there is no problem:
Stream info gives me
Video: 1280x720 codec MPEG(libmpeg2)
Audio: Bitrate 384000 Bits 16 Samplerate 48000 Codec A/52 5.1

Running it on either one of my 2  MD's gives me video but no audio

When starting up xine on one of the MD's via ssh on my laptop I can see that the audio section has "unavailable" listed for the codec.

Versions of xine are the same, installed packages not:

Code: [Select]
root@moon186:~# dpkg --get-selections |grep xine
amarok-engine-xine                              install
libxine1                                        install
libxinerama1                                    install
phonon-backend-xine                             install
pluto-xine-player                               install
xine-ui                                         install

laptop (Lucid)
Code: [Select]
han@Acer1410:~/.xine$ dpkg --get-selections |grep xine
libxine1                                        install
libxine1-bin                                    install
libxine1-console                                install
libxine1-ffmpeg                                 install
libxine1-misc-plugins                           install
libxine1-x                                      install
libxinerama1                                    install
phonon-backend-xine                             install
xine-ui                                         install

But when I try to install libxine1-ffmpeg apt wants to deinstall almost everything *pluto*. Clearly not what I want ;D.

Any body experience or ideas?

Edit: I have already changed the extensions to m2ts and then Mplayer does what it should do, giving me video and stereo or 5.1 depending on the MD. The only thing is; pauze doesn't work, no lipsync no ff or rewind etc.

Users / EKEN M002 as orbiter
« on: July 26, 2010, 04:33:26 pm »
Hi all,

still looking for a very cheap gadget I can use as a orbiter. The Eken is a 7" touchscreen computer with Google Android 1.6.

Wil it be able to run the weborbiter or even Touch Orbiter in time?

I like 'm because you can get them already for $100,- online  ;D.

Users / Samba share on Lucid used by LinuxMCE
« on: June 11, 2010, 05:42:18 pm »
Hello all,

I am using samba shares within LinuxMCE. After the upgrade from Karmic to Lucid the parts of my shares on the samba server that were logical links were no longer accessible.
One could normally overcome this with:
follow symlinks = yes
wide symlinks = yes
unix extensions = no

Because there have been changes to samba the configfile for your samba server should now contain:
follow symlinks = yes
wide links = yes
unix extensions = no

which resulted in my files being available again. Just to let u know.

Users / Mp3's get damaged on samba share
« on: January 18, 2010, 08:06:17 pm »
Hi guys (and girls),

After running 8.10 after some time now, decided to move my music collection to a samba share which is connected to the system.
Doning so I decided to also check (MP3Diag) and organize (EasyTag) my mp3's in the process. After I moved the first albums I noticed a kind of a clicking sound in the music. When rechecking the mp3's with MP3Diag it showed that the mp3's were damaged. Having multiple streams, multiple tags etc. So I deleted the mp3's, rebooted the system, made sure the samba share was online and let the system settle down.

Moved a couple of albums to the hybrid which did not cause the same problem. Moved albums to the share again and ended up with the same problem. Anybody seen this behaviour before? Anything I can change/test/prove/list?

PS: System that is driving the samba share is a kubuntu 9.10 system

I've been building a system aroiund 8.10B and now beta2 just to get the hang before replacing my 7.10 system.

I have run into problem with the ZWave part. After adding the Homepro ZCU010 to the core everything looks normal (as far as I can see).
When I try to copy the config from the controller to the core I end with:

Users / Subtitles gone on one MD, but not on the other??
« on: March 29, 2009, 08:53:49 am »
Was wondering if somebody has seen this before: out of the blue my livingroom MD stopt showing subtitles. When I play the movie on another MD, voila subtitles available. Moving the movie from the working MD to my livingroom MD -> subtitles disappear  ???

So I will do the obvious because I think maybe the MD has corrupted itself: MD reboot (done, no result); core reboot (done, no result); rebuilt MD (today).

But still: Has anybody encountered this before?
