Installation issues / Restart Xineplayer
« on: May 06, 2009, 12:13:17 am »
Hello,

Quite often when I'm watching a movie the streaming is choppy and when I do top I see that the Xine_Player process is always above of 50-60% of CPU consumption and this usage gets worse has time goes by.
The solution? Restart router (anoying) and even though at the end of the movie the frames start to get choppy again, although in a tolerable rate :(.
I'm wondering if instead of restart the all DCERouter I just restart the Xine_Player whenever I start a movie playback.

Does anyone know which is the command to restart the Xine Player dcerouter device?

Installation issues / Re: Audio albums don't apear on Orbiter

Tom,
I've already imported cover art from amazon and tried several attributes not only to the directories but also to files.
Which are the attributes a file/directory must have in order to be considered?

Installation issues / Audio albums don't apear on Orbiter
« on: November 29, 2008, 10:58:21 pm »
Hello,
I've uploaded several mp3 albuns to core although some of the albums don't apear on the orbiters, others do.
I've tried everything in what comes with directory atributes but with no results.

For example I've a directory called Black Sabath with several sub-directories each one containing a different album. Each directory is named according to album's. Although I can't even see the Black Sabath performer on the orbiter.

Which is the criteria for an Artist or album to be shown on orbiters?

I'm using 0710RC2.

thnks

Hello,
I solve it, using the posted hints I found on the File table of pluto_media database several entries of my photos. All path name were wrong except one.
All I have to do was to remove all records with wrong path values and left the right ones untouched.

I'm having nice experience with the screensaver... again.

Thanks to all

Installation issues / Screensaver stops when listen to music
« on: November 22, 2008, 09:38:05 pm »
Hello,
When MCE is playing a set of musics whenever the music track changes the Screensaver stops rotating images, i.e. the image frezes and only changes when the track that is being played ends or when I press the "<-" button on the Fiire remote.

I'm using 7010RC2.

Assuming you are using 0710RC2 ...
Yes it is 0710RC2.

The usual mistake that people make when moving media is to do it manually rather than using the web admin ...
Unfortunatly I'm (was) included on that group of people  :-\

Can you describe where you moved the files from and to? Was it just all from one folder to another, or more complex than that? If it was just a bulk move from one place to another then it should be fairly easy to un-mess-up the database! Grab all the pics and move them to a temporary location that LMCE isn't scanning for media. Delete all the .id3 and .tnj files related to them in all the locations that the pics were ever in. Now in the web admin, go to the media file sync menu - check the check box that shows files missing from disk. Now browse to each folder that the pics were ever in (where you moved them from and to) and it will display the "missing" files that it has in its database but can't find on disk for each folder you go into. Use the option to delete these entries from the database. If there's a lot then this can be laborious, but make sure you delete them all.

Yes it was a Bulk move although after the execution of your action plan the issue continued the same.

Can you please tell me which are the mysql tables where this information is stored? Cann't I simply delete the pictures screensaver records by hand?

Installation issues / ScreenSaver repeats constantly the same images
« on: November 15, 2008, 09:41:39 am »
I've been expirience an anoying ScreenSaver behavior which is the constant repetion of images.

The ScreenSaver repeats the same two images for about 5 times and then elects another two and keeps doing this.

In the past this was not the behavior, it started to do this when when I re-organized my pictures into a diferent folder structure. Although I've already tried to put back the pictures as they were but with no luck.

I getting the felling i've one of the great features of LMCE.

Best Regards

Installation issues / Re: MP3 ripping failed
« on: June 27, 2008, 10:48:24 am »
Really don't know what to suggest then, never seen that before. LMCE uses CDParanoia to actually do the rip, and this has extensive error correction and scratch removal stuff, which is why it rips so slowly. Perhaps you could try ripping these at the command line to see what kind of error-out you are getting when it fails. You may have to grep all the scripts for the exact command it runs (or a dev might chime in here) then simulate the same command with more verbose logging.

BTW - in the past I have had numerous problems ripping DVDs to remote file shares (XP), just bombs out shortly after starting. Never found out why, it doesn't seem to do it any more, and it was DVDs not CDs, but maybe give that a try - rip to the core...

Colin,
Thank you for the feedback. You gave a nice suggestion.
Do you have any idea how to use command line to rip CD's? Is there any log files for CD ripping processes?

Thanks

I'm using RC2 and I'm able to rip in mp3 some CD's although it is frequent to get ripping error messages on some CD's.

Firstly I thought that it could be the media or even read errors on my DVD player but when I rip the same media on the same DVD player into other format (like wav) it works.

Could it be some lame bug, can I troubleshoot it?

thanks

Hello,

I'm having lots of Ripping failures only when ripping in MP3 format.
When I get these errors I rip the same media in WAV or OGG formats without problems. Altough I still prefer to have everything in MP3.

Does anyone know which is the relevant log files for these problem?

Thanks

Installation issues / Re: Nvidia 6200 TC Tearing
« on: May 19, 2008, 08:57:55 pm »
I have also had tearing problems with both a 7300GT (512mb) and a 7600GT (256mb DDR3). Tearing only occurs in UI2 w/ alpha, not UI2 masked.

I also have an ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe, 1GB RAM and x64 AMD Athlon.
I wonder if it's something to do with the motherboard? PCI-e transfer bus?

Hmmm... thats a valid point. When I get a chance I'll do some testing of that theory.

Andrew

Andrew,
Which is the Mother Board you're using?

Andrew,
Thank you for your attention on this.
My system is a Hybrid and runs with the following hardware specs:
- ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
- 1GB RAM
- 160GB internal IDE HDD
- AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual Core Processor BE-2300
- 2x Gigabit Network Interfaces
- Nvidia 6200TC XFX
- Hauppage PVR150
- Fiire Gyro Remote
- USB UIRT
- 1TB External USB HDD

I've already tried a Nvidia 6600LE and a 6600GT with no different results, almost giving up.

Thank you

Hello,
I have a Nvidia 6200TC video card but I'm having tearing images in UI2 with alpha blending while watching movies.
Previously I had a 6600 LE and after trying everything without success I decided to buy a 6200 as recommended in several forum topics.

I have tearing only with alpha blending. Could it be configuration? Perhaps some xorg.conf fine tunning?

Hmmm... well our experience is that the 6200TC will work without tearing at 720P & 1080P but only if your MD is configured for UI2 + Overlay.

Andrew
Hello Andrew,
Sadly I'm having tearing with my 6200TC graphic card. Have you made any tweak on xorg.conf or in Weadmin interface?
Is it possible to share your xorg.conf configuration?

Thanks
