406  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: DVB Card support in LinuxMCE-0710 on: April 10, 2008, 04:16:42 pm
Andrew,
I've managed to get the freecom DVB-T USB tuner http://www.freecom.com/ecproduct_detail.asp?id=2234 up and running in vdr.
I used the driver available here http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T_USB_Devices#Freecom_rev_4_DVB-T_USB_2.0_tuner
USB id of my device 14aa:0160 matched so no src hacking required.

Only tuned it in last night, viewing and recording is the next hurdle  Wink

407  LinuxMCE / Users / MD won't resume playing media on: April 07, 2008, 04:08:00 pm
I started playing a video file on an MD and stopped before it finished. Later when I went to watch again it asked did I want to resume - I said yes, but the file didn't resume, just a black screen then dropped back to the MD idle screen.

any ideas?
thanks

408  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / YP server on: April 07, 2008, 03:50:49 pm
I got a HP laptop I had knocking around set up to network book as an MD. On boot it tries to connect to a YP server but after a few attempts fails. Do I need to worry? I seem to be able to browse and play media from the core

any ideas?

thanks

Hi Thom and others
How did this conf go? did anyone take brief notes that they can share?
Or should we just hold tight until proper minutes etc. are published?

410  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Mysql doesn't install! What is disk error 80? on: April 02, 2008, 01:41:30 pm
I don't know if you have this sorted or not - I came across the mysql failing to install on an update I did, checking the logs it reported the mysql version was at the newest version - maybe you have the same condition causing this error to display.

Have you enough space on the hd you are installing to?

With the initial install using CDs where mysql server install failed - was there a specific error? or just the LMCE dialog box reporting mysql couldn't be installed?

412  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Convenient way to download podcasts (video and audio) under LMCE or KUbuntu on: March 19, 2008, 05:57:30 pm
Not so much under LMCE, but tversity www.tversity.com works under wine so will run on your core. You can subscribe to your audio and video podcasts and have them downloaded to somewhere LMCE can see.

p.s should have checked this out further http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10067 doesn't sound as if that's an option.
413  LinuxMCE / Users / ipaq 5550 as MO on: February 28, 2008, 07:37:50 pm
I've an ipaq 5550 I'd like to use as a mobile orbiter.
It gets recognised by LMCE and I'm asked what type of device it is.
I choose either of the windows mobile orbiters offered and the s/w gets transferred.
When I try to run this on the device it fails - not a valid PPC application.

I can manually transfer the Xscale Orbiter cab from /users/pluto/installers and it will install and run, but never connect to the router.
I'm assuming the packages LMCE sends me have extra config info to allow the orbiter to communicate.

Any hints on what I need to set up on the orbiter? or am I in fact using the correct install?

thanks

414  LinuxMCE / Users / Hiper Media PC on: February 27, 2008, 06:30:08 pm
These look like a nice piece of kit http://www.xcase.co.uk/p/473133/hiper-hmc-2k53a-a3--just-arrived-included-motherboard-dvdrw-remote-am2-cooler-2gb-ram-amd-5000-.html
add CPU+RAM and away you go.
They are based on an MSI K9AGM2 mobo. ATI graphics chip though - will that mean limited to UI2 no eyecandy?
the hiper website for it is http://www.hipergroup.com/English/products/hmc-2k53a-a3.html

415  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Bluetooth Adapters? on: February 26, 2008, 11:00:52 pm
I know this topic is a little old, but just to add for other searchers, I have a  Belkin F8T012xx1 USB Adapter and i couldn't figure out why I couldn't connect. Turns out an incorrect driver gets loaded, you need to put "blacklist pegasus" in the file "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist" and restart the system.

416  LinuxMCE / Users / extra download failing on: February 19, 2008, 03:58:06 pm
I've upgraded from to 710b3 from an existing install.
Every time I reload the router/restart the system LMCE tries to download lmcevdr and video lan client plugin and come other message - not sure of the exact text but to do with pluto and vdr I think. Is there a way to stop these attempted downloads? or an indication of the pkgs its trying to download so that I can download separately and install?

thanks

417  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Is it possible to delete device templates? on: February 13, 2008, 02:33:08 pm
Bump!

I've run into this issue too. While trying to get the ACT Zwave controller going I added a new manufacturer and device and set this up with the device id. So now when I plug the zcu201 in I get numerous devices detected Sad , the correct one as per the new wiki entry (thanks hari) and my old incorrect one.

How can I delete the incorrect device template?

thx

Hari, I don't have external access set up at the moment - I'll look into it.

I just used insmod - modprobe is probably a bit smarter to use.
Yes usbserial is loaded - I have another USB to serial port cable (can't remember manufacturer) and it works ok according to dmesg output.

I'll try again later and get more dbug info.

419  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Supporting the ACT Solutions ZCU201 USB Z-wave Interface on: February 07, 2008, 05:48:38 pm
Hi,
I've tried to get the ZCU201 going.
I've loaded the module - no error msgs, but didn't show up on lsmod.
Added the device ID to a new template - plugging the module in is detected by the core.
I'm not sure if I have the template set up correctly - what options should I be choosing when adding a new device?

thanks

420  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Why the hell? Formatting at installation beginning? on: February 06, 2008, 12:06:58 pm
as rrambo said the DVD install extracts a working image to your HD
I feel your pain - I made the same mistake.
use the 2CD version of the installer - it takes longer but doesn't nuke your HD.

On the recovery of your existing data - it all depends on how far you let the install go and where your partition with your collection was located.
