361  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Can I use patternmatching lib in c++ under LMCE ? on: December 16, 2008, 02:02:12 am
Do you need all the functionality of this? What are you trying to achieve - I had a quick look at your climate plug-in thread but not at any of the source you were attempting to modify, which files out of interest? Does gnu regex (regex.h) or PCRE even, not give you what you are looking for - possibly not as fast as boost or boost+ but for lightweight pattern matching should be fine.

362  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Zwave necessary components for easy integ on: December 10, 2008, 12:13:19 am
In a similar vein I'm planning on installing lighting control in my house and possibly heating - when it gets built again Wink
As I'll get some input at first/second fix electrics is there anywhere I can see how a z-wave controlled installation is going to differ from a standard electrical install, for example with light switches, dimming and dual location switching etc. All switches need to be two wire too, I'm assuming, not three which seems to be the more common zwave type.
Also I'm putting in zoned heating, so rooms will have programmable stats, I've only seen one EU stat from http://www.horstmann.co.uk/products.php but can't see much detail on what zwave commands are supported on it, or if it will work in a zoned system.
Any one started from scratch with a zwave control based install? anyone have any comments or having done retrofit would like to have done something differently? Are Merten the only supplier that offer switch inserts?

Ideas?

Hari,
Tried this on N95, installation went fine, installed to phone, not flash card.
Once I tried to run it - system error (Stop) message, no error codes.

Can z-tool not also accomplish what the master controller does? its a bit cheaper than getting a master controller.

grand - no worries.
366  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: VDR - What´s the development status of the upcoming features on: September 12, 2008, 02:26:08 pm
Great news! thanks for that.
Does this mean it will automatically be pushed out? or it a case of getting it from svn and compiling ourselves?

thx

367  LinuxMCE / Feature requests & roadmap / Re: squeezbox duet-multi-room+orbiter ? on: August 28, 2008, 03:30:51 pm
Is it a case of adding the (new) device template to the SqueezeBox Player base and streamer base classes to route existing commands to the new device type? Then for any duet (player) specifics derive a handler from this? The Duet remote, I'm thinking, would be handled elsewhere.

I'm trying to get my head around how this hangs together - Slimserver -> Slim_server_streamer_plugin -> squeezebox_player-> actual device?
Am I heading broadly in the right direction?

thanks

If you are going to be testing in a virtual machine and are able to blow it away and restart from scratch then booting your domU from the DVD iso installs OS and LMCE, I have no idea how this interacts or whether it will work as you expect under xen.

Marco,
Can you provide some more information about your install
What did you start from? Is the machine already running kubuntu? if so which version?
Are you trying to install from CD?
Do you need to preserve all the data on your HD? if not the DVD installer will wipe the HD and install the correct version of kubuntu and Linuxmce on top.
Have you read http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installation_Guide and decided the best way forward for your needs?

How is your display connected to your PC VGA or DVI/HDMI?
Do you hear an ascending tone as your core boots?

Seems from other posts splinux wanted to re-use a box already running a slideshow on the main TV so had a lot of media on there. I'm assuming that's why the CD install route was taken.

I got me one of these this week  Grin pretty sweet devices.
I started to add a new template flicking between the existing SB one and my new one; I answered questions on template creation wizard as best I thought - the final one ir codes has me confused - what do I need to input?

Also does such a thing exist in the template wizard "Add New, based on ..."

for the MAC address range - I tried a quick google but didn't come up with anything concrete - given that the units are identified by the latter half of the MAC address is it safe to assume the first 3 bytes are constant for these units?

Also - haven't thought this bit through but would the controller also be added, given that it talks to slimserver/squeezecenter?

thanks

Just to close this off - I was initially trying this over Bluetooth!
Once I got my wireless access going in my lmce network and ran the orbiter - picked it up straight away Smiley

374  LinuxMCE / Compatible Products & Services / Re: Thin CPU Fan AM2 on: August 01, 2008, 04:06:24 pm
Hi Schmich, those cases don't have much space inside and you are limited in the fan you can use. As you have mentioned the Hiper fan is suitable, there is also this guy http://www.xcase.co.uk/p/329507/dynatron-model-model-a48g---athlon-64-x2-dual-core-5200.html But a silent 1U fan is kinda hard to find.
Don't think there is too much space for a fanless block in there either.
I ended up getting the Hiper fan.

375  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Install Error (New Download) on: August 01, 2008, 11:02:03 am
Can you perhaps give us a few steps on what you did before getting to this error?
Was it a DVD or CD based install?
Was it a clean install?
How far had the installer got to?
did you verify the checksum on the downloaded ISO?
etc..
