(4) Learn the device template and package system so that we can support more hardware!

I'm willing to contribute something to the community. As I do not have that much experience with Java/C/C++ I would try to build some more device templates for tuner cards. I don't know anything about the package system, do you have some good starting points for that? The device templates itself shouldn't be too hard, there should be enough samples to start and learn from.

Nope.  This machine won't install.  I can't get the AV-Wizard screen to come up.  I'm using the VGA connector with a standard LCD monitor.  The install runs fine, reboots, first-run scripts run and networks are detected correctly, then right when the AV-Wiz is supposed to come up, black screen.  I tried swapping the 5200 for a 5500 with the same results.  (The 5200 is the same card used above which installed sucessfully several times)  I also ran memory test for 5 hours yesterday with all passes.  What is interesting is that if I reboot the machine, X will start and bring up the LMCE launch manager but it can't generate the on-screen orbiter. (Error about transparency manager not running)  I attribute this to it not completing the installation configuration.

Have you tried installing the latest nvidia drivers? Have a look here and try to install it:

After installing the driver you can also run nvidia-xconfig to get an autogenerated xorg.conf. If you modify xorg.conf and LMCE changes your xorg.conf, add an "exit" to /usr/pluto/bin/, as described here:

Users / Re: ACT Homepro ZTH200 as primary Controller possible?
« on: February 02, 2009, 03:22:43 pm »
Yes, I loaded it fully. The first time it started blinking and after about three hours the stick was fully loaded (no more blinking). When I now try to load the stick, it sometimes won't start loading and if it starts it blinks forever.

So, having the ZTH200 and the Seluxit viaSens should work also? If so, I'll give the ZTH200 a try.

The Tricklestar will be replaced by the shop, but I've to wait until mid of february, so I'll first go with the ZTH200 as primary controller, do some testing and after that, I'll move back to Tricklestar as primary and ZTH200 as secondary controller.

Hi hari,

thanks for the reply.

I can reproduce that behaviour. It pretty much looks like a hardware defect, it seems like the Button can't get a contact. If I move and press a little bit harder on this button, the green led starts glowing. Main problem here is, that it is really hard getting into inclusion or association mode, because of this I got it happen, that the Tricklestar was resetted and all my devices were deleted. :(

BTW: I also noticed some problems loading the Tricklestar. If I plug it into the USB port it sometimes isn't working, if I use an other computer, it sometimes will start loading, sometimes it doesn't load.

Because of this, and because I want to assign some associations to some transmitter, I've planned to purchase the ZTH200 ( It is an ugly remote, but if it is able to include, exclude and associate as primary controller, this would fit my needs.

Users / ACT Homepro ZTH200 as primary Controller possible?
« on: February 02, 2009, 12:25:18 pm »
Hi guys,

my Tricklestar is not that reliable, sometimes the "UP" Button doesn't work. So I'm planning to get the Homepro ZTH200. My question is, is the ZTH200 usable as primary controller? Does it make sense, or is it better to go with a Tricklestar, as it supports SIS mode and use the ZTH as secondary controller only?

I guess I have to manually copy the Informations using "Send command to device" and "Download Configuration", is this the only point, what is different to the Tricklestar?

Thanks in advance,

yes, you can use the webadmin. The description is a bit misleading, it was for the old driver. You just have to specify the node id of the switch as target, the group (1 - left paddle, 2 - right paddle) and the node to put into the association group (your "target").

hi hari,

I'm using the following parameter

Set Association
Node ID: 4
Group ID: 1
Nodes List: 7

Where 4 is my transmitting-only switch and 7 is the switch, which should be controlled. The command is sent successfully, however, the association doesn't work. Did I miss something?

Thanks in advance,

update: I've used the Tricklestar for association, now it is working... ;)

Hi Ritmo,

have a look at Origen (, they offer a lot of HTPC cases.

I'm using an old one (Origen Dign X15), with an integrated touchscreen for my core hybrid. Best is, that I do not need to turn on the tv to control something, instead I have UI1 running on the small touchscreen, that gives me a very nice static orbiter. ;)

I'm living in germany. In the past I used tv_grab_de_tvtoday, but the grabber needed adjustements everytime tvtoday changed something in their sourcecode.

I'm now using This cost me 15 euro a year, but it is much faster (I'm updating 7 days within ten minutes) and reliable. They offer more then 200 european channels and provide a lot of details for each show.

Thank you hari. I'll give it a try... :)

BTW: I received some Express Controls EZmotion. Currently there is no status in the wiki, if this device is working or not. Do you need some Test samples here or some debugging information?

Users / How to associate ACT Homepro ZTW230 to other ZWave Device
« on: January 30, 2009, 09:02:29 am »
Hi guys,

I'm currently setting up my ZWave network. My network has the following devices

Seluxit viaSens
USB Tricklestar
ACT Homepro ZDW232
ACT Homepro ZRW232
Interact Plugin Dimmer
Interact Plugin Switch

All of these devices are working perfectly (Thanks to hari and SIS mode). Unfortunately my electrican wasn't able to get the ZDW232 to work in 3-way switching mode. So I decided to leave the working Switch (ZDW232) and install a
transmitter only (ZTW230). Does somebody know how I can assign the group to the ZTW230? I know, that I have to include this device first, but waht to do after that? Can I send the association commands via webadmin?

Thanks in advance,

Does anyone has an idea how to get seperate x-screen with ui1 on one monitor and ui2 on the 2nd monitor to work?

I have a xorg.conf with two layouts (layout0 and layout1). Both layouts work perfectly. The first one is starting the small builtin monitor with the touchscreen "jailed" on this screen. The second layout is using an attached usb mouse and the big monitor. However, if I modify kdmrc to make use of this two layouts, only the first layout is used.

I've tried several "Multiseat" examples, but none of them really worked.

Hurray, I got my WebDT. :)

Thank you Posde for the personal delivery, thank you Tschak for the nice LinuxOrbiter. The Orbiter is working perfectly, however I noticed a problem with the (external) battery. The pins were out of shape, so they didn't got any contact, after fixing that the WebDT is running and running.

Hi Tx,

a good starting point is the wiki:

Hi Cesar,

you have to use the IP of the core (-s = server). You can define the MAC address for sueezeslave using "-m", you can use whatever you want, best is, if you start with 00:00:00:00:00:01 and increase this MAC address for every other squeezeslave. To use this player within LMCE add this as described in the wiki and use the MAC address you have used for the daemon. I don't know the url right now, but you can connect to slimserver on your dcerouter using a browser. If your squeezeslave has connected successfully you should see it in the "player" section. From within this section you should see if your squeezeslave is running, what is playing, etc.
