Sounds like the configuration of your display drivers got messed up somehow.  You could try going trough the AVWizard again.

Thats actually what I ended up doing, so far so good but without any transparency.

Hello, I went to turn on the LinuxMCE box today to try and mess with it and get closer to having it all tuned in for production and I get this error after the everything starts except the actual orbiter.

"can not start transparency check and see if transparency manager is running"

whats the deal with this? It was working earlier today, all I did was Stop Media director and turned it back on later.

How can I get the transparency manager running again?

Good luck building your Whole House with LinuxMCE. I too would like to do the same, only I'm a little weak in Linux Language so it will be an adventure but worth it.

Take care and let us all know how it goes.

OK - based on what you have. I would try a diffrent DVD drive to do the install. I have had cheap (flaky) drives fail during an OS install but work for everything else. Thats my only guess for now.

What hardware are you using?

Have you tried more than one dvd? Maybe try downloading another ISO and burning it again. Burn it slowly so theres less chance for errors.

It also could be some mild incompatability between the DVD drive you used to burn the disk and the one you used to Install.

Good place to start anyway, let us know how it goes.

I know LinuxMCE will learn codes with a USB UIRT and it's fully supported.

I know theyre not free but it is a solution.

Rob, Thanks for your response!

To answer your questions...I have both a Happauge PVR 500 and a Happauge PVR 150 installed.

My media menu choices are (in regards to this problem) Live TV and Live TV STB. If I select Live TV I can view my STB programming, record, rewind, pause, FF and  view the program guide with LinuxMCE BUT it will not change the channels on my STB.

If I select Live TV STB then I can change the channels on the STB but not record, pause, rewind or FF. If I attempt to rewind etc. It gives me button Icons to click (essentially sending an IR signal to tell the STB to rewind etc.

I have tried using all three of the inputs on the cards.

I have ran MythTV setup more than a few times. Can you tell the best way to get the STB to change channels AND have Mythtv PVR capabilities. I am willing to start at square 1.

After several countless hours. It finally started working! ( http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=3272.0 )
I guess the best thing to do with linuxmce is to walk away and come back in a few hours, then everything will work!

One thing that for sure wont fix itself is when I click the new scenario button that was created with the set top box installation I cant record, rewind or FF. The best I can seem to find is its not going thru MythTV but only directly to Xine or something? I have looked all over the Admin Page for a way to enable recording and such on this input. Can someone give me a hint?

Installation issues / Controlling of STB!!

Ok folks I am in extreme need of an assist- I have spent countless hours installing and configuring LinuxMCE. There seems to be no way to get it to change the channels on my set top box using a usb uirt.

I have a PVR 150 and a PVR 500 I have tried them both. For simplicity I only have the PVR 150 installed and the STB is connected to the anntena (coax) port on the PVR 150.

I have manually set each code and when I do "test code" for each button,  they work fine.
I tried setting the codes through the orbiter as well as the Admin panel.

I have schedules direct all set up and get liveTV on the screen and can change the channels directly with the remote pointed at the STB but MythTV just will not change the channels.

I am pretty sure I have all the settings correct but obviously I am missing something.

Should I have some sort of "external change channel command" in the MythTV setup? It always seems to be blank.

I have searched and searched, Any help here would be greatly appreciated. WHAT AM I MISSING?

Well....Is that stuff worth the money? Do you have a set top box?

I thought I would need 3 bluetooth dongles in order for the "follow me" function to work. Also the MD's will be pretty far apart in the house.

Has anyone setup this sort of configuration? I will be needing lots of assists.
