I just appreciate the work that you and the other folks are putting into this for the benefit of everyone else. I read a lot more than I respond on here and i've been following your progress ( and frustrations ) with insteon.

Which parameters are you having problems with? Almost all have a tool tip. Also, have you experimented with sending test commands to the device to flush out what does and doesn't work?

I use the media plugin, and I use the MH Play Media Command. It gives me these parameters:

#13 Filename (string)    -  /home/public/data/audio/Internal HDD-CORE (sda1) [47]/Don McLean/American Pie/01 American Pie.mp3 <---I get this path from the database.

#2 PK_Device (int)
   - not needed here to work (in my experience)

#44 PK_DeviceTemplate (int)    - Also not needed to work

#45 PK_EntertainArea (string)    - 1, 2  <---this means the bedroom and living room. Separate each area by comma and you should be good to go.

#29 PK_MediaType (int)    - depends on what your playing. I always put this but i dont know if its needed.
playlists = 21
video = 5
audio = 2
? = 17 <---meaning my cheat sheet hasn't gotten there yet.

#117 Repeat (int)    - 0 = default for media, 1= repeat, -1= dont repeat.

#116 Resume (bool) - "true" means go back to what you were doing before. "False" means dont.

I added a test timed event to my system and if it works i'll post my settings here. I have gotten the above to work for me though. For example, "house to sleep mode" kills all the lights turns of the living room display, and starts playing my 'sleepytime' playlist in the bedroom.

Hope this Helps.

I have a buncha x10 equipment...dont really WANT to buy all new stuff, but might if the functionality is better than that of the x10. I have a lot of headaches with it (x10) and kinda want something more reliable. So yeah, Im following it.

Hey there and welcome to the community.

Which UI are you using? It sounds like UI1, in which case have you tried clicking the mouse buttons while the media is playing. It should bring up the 'remote'.

In the case of UI2, you need to use the keyboard and press the f5, f6, and f7 buttons respectively.

you can also take a look at this thread http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=2549.0 for more information on how to setup your mouse buttons so that you don't need the keyboard.

And lastly, the wiki and the forums have a lot of information covering usage topics so searching 1st may find you your answer.

If none of the above info helps, please post a little more in depth as I could only guess and my suggestions are based on that guess.

Cheers,

i've had this problem as well. It mainly happened when I had the 'update media' checked. Since i've left it unchecked I dont have this problem anymore. But yeah, somehow AC/DC cover art made it to Tablib Keweli Huh

so if you really want it.. click on view by Filename. If you're not happy, modify your version of the code. OR LEAVE.

are you always this pissy? Seriously, its feature requests. So fracking sorry if we ask for a better way to access the content. Didnt realize it was your way or the highway. And in the future, maybe you shouldn't accuse other users of being thieves.

And seriously, do you have to spend your time pooping on ideas for improvement? It seems more productive work can be done besides calling people thieves and telling them its 'this way or the highway'. Why do you think we ARENT using windows  Roll Eyes

Xine has been customized for LMCE and you will have a mess on your hands if you muck with it. I hear that Xine will be replaced in the next release any week now so just wait.

thats what I decided to do. Im not qualified to go messing around with the guts...yet  Cool

ok, does anyone know if I would break my current linuxMCE install if I follow the instructions in the link above on fixing the a/v sync issues?
806  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: USB-Uirt and scenarios on: November 19, 2007, 10:20:05 pm
Ok, so I just received mine on Friday.  I have been trying to get it to work properly since then. Maybe someone here can answer a couple of questions for me.

1. How do you set up scenarios? Its really confusing with all the random commands in the scenario page. Do i need to create a cheat sheet and learn every single one? Is there an easier way to tell it what to turn on and off? Currently, nothing works right except the volume.  Sad

2. Why would my usb-uirt send the right code once, then stop working after that?

3. this is related to the scenarios again. is there an explicit way to tell it what to do and when?

 Believe when I say i have been pouring over the wiki, but the info there is really just not complete. hopefully someone here can explain to me how to get this working properly.

I assume that your usb-uirt is working for 'normal' IR remote control functions?

You are correct sir. My issues are the firing of the ir commands. I did get things worked out by solely using my receiver, but im still curious as to how linuxMCE decides what commands to send and where. Im very confused as to why a code would work once, then stop. i even looked into the timing and other stuff but no dice. maybe i crossed the wrong code somewhere? I also have a gyro mouse. Could that be causing a problem?

btw. im working with:

recently purchased usb-irt
xp MCE remote

thanks for any ideas
