Be nice if unfreeze happened before scale, but ive pretty much given up on that
18  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: stream desktop audio to lmce on: January 23, 2013, 01:33:52 am
The way I've noted that _should_ work (I haven't made it fully work yet).

Pulseaudio allows you to stream data out via DNLA and Airplay, both of which the MDs support, to an extent.

I've had music from desktop spotify play via an airplay stream to an MD, although no, actual, sound came out, both ends recognised each other and connected to each other.
I haven't investigated further, but that might be a possibility.
The other one would be to integrate pulse audio into an MD as another audio server option alongside an airplay server, as pulse audio network playing is pretty solid in my experience.

it can do WHAT!!?>!>!>

sometimes, i lament being in Qt / QML world day an night. So many other technologies and so little time...

I / we could more than likely implement this method pretty fast if we are willing to give up some features.

Mainly it appears
-seeking
-timecode

Other than that, this would be pretty brain dead simple to implement. Maybe I should be less of a snob about this and accept that we cant have everything we want for v1 of a video player on the pi.

I'm curious to know how likely it is that it will be possible to use a Raspberry Pi as a Media Director some day.

I have seen that there are 3-4 forum topics related to this as well as 2 wiki pages, but they all seem to describe work on very specific components of the big picture.  I am not a developer so I have a hard time following what is discussed in the forums.  I am a seasoned Linux SA and am also familiar with LinuxMCE.

I am looking more from a high level overview how close things are or if it is even possible.  I'd be more than happy to add content to the wiki pages and participate in any testing, I have two of the 512MB RPs myself.

I stand corrected and we will probly be trying to get multimedia going on it soon.

I got an htc evo3d(ICS) running the latest (I hope) version of qorbiter- setup as per wiki-instructions. When I start qorbiter, I get a rotating bar and then a message, that it couldn't connect the dcerouter. The first time I put the devicenumber and it connects, but the initial message always shows first.
Other than a few graphic-glitches I have not much to report....for example the first two buttons at the bottom are garbled.

The initial message is supposed to be there. Its basically searching for your dcerouter because the gui is loaded over the network as opposed to trying to cram the gui in your phone (300+ screens and images per skin!). I apologize for the rockiness, but we are really trying to address these problems i swear Smiley

P.S. The latest can always be found @ http://deb.linuxmce.org/QOrbiter-Release.apk
22  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Raspberry Pi builder on: January 18, 2013, 04:05:46 am
Not sure specifically what you mean by how far my builder has progressed?  I had previously built all the packages for raspbian/armhf and they are up at dropbox for use in sources.list.  It has been a few months since I've done a rebuild of those packages but they work just fine with a 1004 core.  I have been puttering away the whole time.

I have a full MD running on 512MB RPi, photo-screensaver and UI1 with USB-UIRT.  Full MD with screensaver crashes on 256mb rpi.  The only piece of the puzzle that is missing is an omxplayer (a la mplayer_player) to handle media playback on the pi.

MD creation is essentially worked out, I have copious notes and have been working on updating scripts for proper MD functionality with as little alterations to current scripts as possible.  I have been waiting for 1004 release and lifting of feature freeze so I can request svn access and update everything I have here into svn.

Talking with golgo we decided that a UI1 based MD on rpi is the way to go until qorbiter matures more.

So... if there is anything that people could/should try to work on it is an omxplayer for pi mds.  With that we would have essentially complete MD functionality on the rpi.

Jason.

In the most non offensive way possible.
I fucking love you man. Awesome stuff. Is there anything outstanding we need to get it integrated so thats pnp?

ps. qorbiter memory handling has improved a ton thanks to sambuca and possy. Smiley

http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/ticket/1030

Can anyone who has done a recent install find either device? I ask because I had 2 devices by the same manufacturer but, its gone now. Device templates with it.

There was
DirecTv

now there is only Direct Tv

Did anyone else experience this?
24  LinuxMCE / Users / Southern California Linux Expo on: January 06, 2013, 05:26:22 am
The time is coming for the 11th annual Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE for the initiated). And now, you are initiated, arent you? Smiley Sorry, too much Batman.

SCALE 11X will be held Feb. 22-24, 2013, at the Hilton Los Angeles
Airport hotel. For more information, visit
http://www.socallinuxexpo.org

Anyways, as usual, I will be there representing the LinuxMCE project and I am letting whoever is interested know. Will else be attending? We need people to man the booth mainly so why not come hang out?

I have most of the hardware needed, and what I dont have will be acquired in short order. But I need people. Its a rough 2 days being there from show open to close, so the more people the better.

I will most likely be getting a room at the Hilton because I dont feel like driving back and forth, and a local chillout spot is nice. If anyone else is interested, im sure we could figure something out. If anyone cant make it but would like to donate towards covering the cost of a room, by all means please contact possy.

Thats about it.
good day.

Thanks for your insights. Ill be sure to bring this up to the other developers. Is there any more information you have on the problems you mentioned?

28  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: Android application as a device on: December 04, 2012, 01:18:19 am
ah yes, I remember now.  Its not quite finished.  I hadn't decided whether to stick with the compile against database approach used in the normal C++ devices (so you have constants matched with IDs in your source code generated from the database), or whether to load them at runtime.
Anyway, its not in a slick, finished state.

Stop by irc sometime if you have a chance. I would love to pick your brain re: integrating the native android media player into qOrbiter. If its even possible to embed it in other applications, can you overlay stuff on it, ect.

Nice to hear the little one is walking! I know from experience it can be awesome and terrifying at the same time...or maybe that was just me.

Cheers,
Golgoj4
