2311  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: 0710 beta 2 available on: December 22, 2007, 09:08:57 pm
This will require a dual-layer DVD?
yes.
2312  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Is it just me? on: December 22, 2007, 09:06:51 pm
Hari - just started downloading, but I noticed that it is 5.12GB - is this supposed to fit on a single DVD, single layer, or do I need a dual layer blank? I will probably start in VM so I can use the .iso directly but for when I do want to burn it to media...
you need DL media or a good vm Wink

best regards,
Hari

Hi all,

Daniel provided a beta2 image yesterday. Installation went fine for me.

http://vt100.at/kubuntu-linuxmce-0710-i386-beta-2.iso.torrent

Don't bother downloading older versions (beta1 or amd64), they have some issues and probably won't work for you.

best regards,
Hari

So tempting....but something tells me I should just wait. Nothing like toasting your system for xmas because you didn't know what you were doing.  Smiley
installation went very smooth for me. Just adding some devices..

Hari

Well I would not use the words 'hardly tested'... its been tested pretty heavily here! But there are rough edges still... thats why its a Beta ;-)
of course i meant this exact dvd build.

Hari

Do you mind if I post an announcement to the Users and Developers forums?
maybe you want to include a link to Daniel's post on the dev list:
http://www.charonmedia.org/pipermail/lmce-dev/2007-December/000205.html

but the beta is hardly tested. I just finished installation in a vm.

install went fine, testing is still pending. The faint hearted may want to try it. Don't blame me if it burns your kitchen sink.

best regards and happy christmas,
Hari

ps: there will be no final release till after christmas

Christmas presents? Are you referring to LMCE 0710 Wink? Tell Santa I want to upgrade from  Asterisk v1.2.9.1-BRIstuffed-0.3.0-PRE-1q to a v1.4.x Smiley.
no, shopping in real life Wink but if you count the beta as present:

2320  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Anyone know a PC adapter for Jung Funk Gira? on: December 22, 2007, 01:32:43 pm
Anything I find on Jung Funk or Gira is in German. I don't understand anything without Google translations and those get kind of funny but is not very helpful in finding what I need.

I'm not sure, but this system could be EIB. Anyone know?

I'm hoping to find a RF adapter for use with LinuxMCE. USB or Serial.
jura produces EIB products, too. If it's some simple 433 mhz solution it may be possible to use those ir repeater "eggs" as kind of a ir/rf bridge (works for intertechno). But i assume it's EIB over RF, so that simple repeater won't work. It features some western jack that may be used to interface with it in the future:

The model#s are wrong all over the original wiki article, but no matter. There's no "Show model" button, but the "Pick Device Template" button opens a window defining 7970 phones:
you are right with that. Thank you for pointing that out.

with ranges of MAC addresses ("Range of MAC" / "From" / "To").
yeah, thats the right form.

However, the "Registering" message with moving time wheel stays on screen, and the SEP<MAC>.cnf.xml and CTLFile.tlv status messages keep showing. Those messages are probably related, and indicate at least some instability in the installation.
it bitches about the cnf.xml? Hmm, please tell me the firmware type and version from the phones menu.
I have to get some christmas presents now but we can step throught that in the evening.
After checking the version we can debug it via the asterisk command line.

best regards,
Hari

I'm going back through the old instructions and the LMCE pages now looking for it, but which is the correct form to use?
The Device Template form in the Advanced menu (i see in your other post that you found that already)

I'm not trying to challenge you; I'm just trying to understand how to proceed to success from the clues I've got.
i assume that the phone doesn't find it's configuration. It loops and first tries to look for that tlv file. If it is not found it continues with trying to fetch a "SEP<MAC>.cnf.xml" file from the server.

Quote
Thanks again for helping me clear this up. The SIP support by Asterisk is superior to Asterisk's SCCP support, so I'll probably want to do that as soon as SCCP->SIP is a single variable I'm changing, from a working SCCP installation.
no prob. When we sorted out some pending tasks i will try to extend the device template for sip. But there is one problem: the chan_sccp module configures the phone via skinny. No need for a SEP<xx>.cnf file with username, password and such. With sip we have to generate that file.
