you can interact in both directions via libCEC. So writing a DCE device is straightforward.

re 1), yes

re 2), the HEM data will be logged by the data logger plugin. That would be completely separate from the switch.

shipping back and forth for 3) would probably be more expensive than the unit itself..

I did look at the code and I do request multilevel sensor data on polling, but I send it to the broadcast address. Maybe the unit does not honor that.. Would you be available for a debug session in IRC? But I will need ssh access to your core, that would speed up things.

I think that stuff (not added by me) just tracks on/off events and then cumulates the configured Watt setting of any device. But we also support true energy meter reading with the AEON Labs HEM. Adding this unit will deliver values to the data logger.
For your device there is some code missing. It needs to be queried. You can send me a unit (working on EU frequencies) for my demo lab if you want it supported.

the lmce driver ignores the lock in the network config saved on the dongle. The encryption support is handled via a wrapper command class and AES encryption. But as there are no european devices available I did not look at it in detail.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to tell us with the post... It would really help if you could state what exact device you're using, how it is configured (config params), what you would expect it to do and how it is behaving differently from that.

I'd also try to use the log_slow_queries setting in my.cnf

it is possible to work on multiple DTs but you really need to understand the database schema to judge which entries should go in for the checkin of a specific DT

@jasep: gilgoe is just a bot. And your suspicion is wrong. I don't know how you relate some IR remote with the issue from RayBe? RayBe stated that he sees two ON commands in the logs. How the heck should that relate to the Aeon controller? And what do you drivel regarding bleeding Z-Wave scenarios?

@RayBe: catch some of the devs on IRC, we need to track own why the event plugin is misbehaving

the backup/restore child devices function in the web admin can be abused to achieve that

that really depends on the type of device. There are electronic switches that you don't hear at all and relay switches that make this "click" sound when the relay is triggered. The former is quiet but the latter can handle more load.

be happy that the smart system utilizes your memory :-) It would be a bad investment if the RAM were idling unused, right?

@jasep
there should be no need to tune the swappiness on LMCE. We don't run workloads that go beyond installed RAM. So most of the RAM is used as cache anyway and there is no need for heavy paging. I'd refrain from giving such tuning advice to not so experienced users. They will be fine with the default settings.

zoneminder ran after doing an "apt-get install zoneminder". The config via web admin was straightforward. The only thing to do besides that is adjusting the SHM settings.

if you just want a single cam and nothing else, use zoneminder.
