/*

m2npv-vm is used even by developers.

I even suspected Linux compatibility of my motherboard. Thank God it is not that! But the strange thing is that no one else reported this problem.
*/

maybe we have a some hw difference. my tuner card is a dirty cheap pinacle saa7114  with own wav device, have no analog connection to mb line in. they mayb have. but, the mythtv record sound so the problem is somewhere between the mythtv and linuxmce...

skin genration completted, server says: failed to get orbiter status
failed to regenerate skin for orbiter!!

the core is running, but the media station don't. i don't change anyithing before i reboot. how can i fix it ?

Do a reload router & regen from Web admin... and if this does not fix the problem. Reboot the MD again.

i rebooted few times but no change. ???

i have a some problem now as u. but... if i play the temp video of livetv from the /home/.../tv_show on windows pc over samba i have a sound.

so it's not a beta, it's just a pre alpha stage software, i hope sometimes will work all feature.

What motherboard are you using?

asus m2npv-vm

That did not solve the problem. In order to get audio through spdif, I had to mute IEC958 from within the alsamixer. If it is not muted then audio won't play even for DVD and also the setup screen sounds like crazy distortion (Sort of over saturated signal). But I noticed that when I can get audio from DVD the TV can be played through analog output.

If you are using a core/MD system you can configure the audio for the KDE desktop to use the SPDIF and everything will work properly.  If you are on a network boot MD then you can configure the desktop the same way but you will have to do this every time you reload the diskless MD.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. I looked for a place in KDE to change the audio configuration so that the change would be global, but I could not find an appropriate screen or command. Could you post a little more details on how to change that in KDE environment?

u can do with alsamixer. u must unmute the iecxxx. the u wil have stereo pcm output over spdif.

ok, but i dont delete it the original kernel. i can be select from grub menu, just not work. thats why i can't boot in and restore the generic kernel.

so, the ubuntu is under linuxmce is different something with standard ubuntu? if not, i think this proble is problem of ubuntu/grub not linuxmce.

other: the install dvd make full feature working mythtv config on my htpc, on other disitrib this need at least one week hard work.  and the linuxmce is working at first reboot, i wondering not a litle  ;D

Users / Re: What are the background processes not required for LMCE?
« on: October 08, 2007, 12:48:49 pm »
I noticed that LMCE starts several daemons (services) by default such as HP printing support. I am wondering if we can disable some of those  daemons for a dedicated media server catering only to MDs? Can anybody comment on what daemons are not required for LMCE and how to disable them? Thanks.

if u look in the kde process managgr u cansee the cusp is started but dont run. when i disabled (and several others) dont caused any problem. but the lmce still slow  :'(

i was changed the 2.6.15-generic kernel to 2.6.16-low-latency version, with dselect. but when i rebooted, the system cant stand up. the loading process is start alwasy, but few seconds later freese and other some seconds later i got a promt named "initramfs" (it looks busybox). if i try boot with the old kernel i got some situation.

how can be repared? i tryed the dvd recovery option but cant help.

C'mon no one playing 1080P streams over their network?

Let us know your system configs if you are.

Thx

i think it's depend on codec. the mpg2 maybe can be played with xvmc aka purevideo. the h/x.264 is harder question. on windows u can play with coreavc or cyberlink codec at normal pc with purevideo. or if u have a stronger x2 or core duo u can use some version of fddshow and/or avisynth what can use the two core both for decoding. on linux i have no idea.

Users / Re: Face Recognition Features
« on: October 07, 2007, 05:42:37 am »

There would be loads of uses for face recognition if it were reliable enough. Walk into a room... the MD recognises its you and sets the lighting and other settings to your liking, Follow-me using face recognition would be cool... just walk from rrom to room and the system would instantly recognise you and your media/lighting etc would magically follow you. Security applications are many.... recognise who is at the door. Log unrecognised faces and then indentify them as suspicious... have the system alert you if that person re-appears etc etc...

and what about twins?  ;D
