I did a reinstall of linuxmce and everything is now up and running properly.

I think however the issue was caused by the HDHomerun obtaining a IP address from my ADSL model, and not from Linuxmce.

As soon as I plugged the HDHomerun into the network with the ADSL modem disconnected LinuxMCE picked it up straight away.

Sounds like you might not have the network configured correctly. You can't have 2 DHCP servers on the same network - this will screw lots of stuff up. See this chart (Network After LinuxMCE is Installed) for what it should look like:

Looks like the latest update fixed the problem with MKV playback and didn't break VDR. Excellent work!

Nope - had to configure in mythtv backend but that was it...

Sorry - no idea why, but I can confirm mine works fine (Melb Aus). Configured using mythtv backend... All channels found and operational.

You must do a 'Full Regen' of the Web Orbiter as described in the Wiki page - a reload router alone is not enough. It was the regen on re-boot that corrected the problem...not the reboot itself.

Actually I had to reboot as well. Tried several full regens (and adding/deleting the orbiter) but I had the same issue as viking. Working great now though - thanks!

Only problems I have are (using a Nexus One):

- Volume control of the amp (Denon 2307 via Rs232)
The lag (or something) seems to cause problems with the volume. The signal does seem to make it though to the amp most of the time (Denon 2307) but there is lag of a several seconds when it works....

- Resolution
480x800 is suggested in the Wiki but that doesn't exist in the admin drop-down. Using the iPhone one instead which is ok but a bit out.

The problem is mkv is a container format and can contain a range of encapsulations - many are used in torrent downloads to minimise files sizes etc. We dont see supporting those encapsulations as a mainstream requirement in our Cascade/Dianemo systems and we do no promote or support the playback of this type of media as a company.

Fair enough, though I would have thought it is going to be more and more common (as with my friends example for converting his collection).

The legality is one issue and the other is the headaches we would experience supporting customers to an acceptable level. Reliability & stability is always at the top of our list - if you sell a system to someone then its has to be reliable over everything else.

Not sure how there can be legality issues with supporting encapsulations/codecs....Just like any other format, just because it can be used for illegal purposes - doesn't mean there are not plenty of legal uses.

We are expecting to add BluRay support before the end of this year however as this capability is maturing nicely now under Linux.

Curious - are the Dianemo systems able to support the latest mkv formats @ 1080p flawlessly?

Have a friend who is interested, but has a blueray collection that he has started ripping in the latest formats. I can't get them to work on my 0810 (for known reasons as documented elsewhere http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=10013.15) and am wondering if Dianemo might be an option for him.

Also - he would probably want something like the NC 200-RAID (Rack Mount) - are these shipping to Aus? If so cost est?

Beeker - are you running 0810 Beta?

For the record, if you can already do a sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade to get the new packages - I don't think you should be playing here....

huh - I only changed the one that was set to 600. Worked for me.

RayBe - open a command prompt and type:

sudo pico /etc/apt/preferences

(pico is a terminal text editor, you can use others like vim but pico might be easier).

You will see this section

FYI - I wasn't able to get any updates of late and didn't know why (using a June Snapshot 0810). Possy pointed out a fix:

I checked KDE Desktop Screensaver in the meantime...that one is off, so I don't think the blanking is caused by this.
I also checked the timing...if I'm not mistaken its about 75 minutes max

Does it only happen if KDE is loaded? That was the case for me...

Heya All,

Noticed since I started using the snapshot from the 1/6/10 that the Mame meta data doesn't seem to work.

Also a few ROM's that previously worked seem to fail (e.g. Street Fighter 2 HF).

I tried removing and adding the Game Player under the software modules in the MD - however I am not really sure what else I can do to troubleshoot?

Any ideas where I can start looking?

Hi mathieu,

The fact that is says "Installing Pluto-Mythtv-Plugin and xmltv utils" suggests it is probably going to fix itself. You just need to give it a bit of time to do so. Provided you have a functioning Internet connection that is.

I have installed the same snapshot.  After a bit of time the packages installed correctly.

2. Please work with Mandingo to add support for your tuner card so that you do not have to use MythTV Setup to add them.

- The cards are supported (HDhomerun + a DVICO Dual Digital 2 - details added to the sticky in the past). The cards showed up correctly in Mythtv backend setup via computing.. I just couldn't get any changes I made there to stick (as opposed to when in KDE desktop)?

3. Do you happen to remember what the symlink was called, and what it pointed to? You have to be VERY careful, as updatemedia needs symlinks to properly traverse the media in a share. What disk was the symlink on? (Did you accidentally try to add your boot drive as a pluto disk?)

Yeah - it was called drive3[32] (I rename all my drives in the web admin so it isn't a serial number).

It was within the /home/public/data/video/drive4[33]/ pointing to /home/public/data/video/drive3[32]/. Kinda odd. From within that drive I just did unlink drive3[32]. Everything seems fine now.

4. was KDE desktop running at this point? This can be a problem. If you go into KDE Desktop and disable the screen saver, this should not happen. and this problem should only exhibit itself if the KDE desktop was explicitly launched. (I want to get rid of the Desktop completely.)

- Yep it was (had to go into KDE to fix MythTV cards). I am retesting now after a reboot. Will see if this fixes it.

5. server load on our end, perhaps?

- Not sure - as above, seems others might have been getting this also. A bit of patience and it was ok though

6. Again, please work with Mandingo to support your card. We want to make it so you never have to go into MythTV Setup.

- I'll hit mandingo up on IRC at some point, but as above I think the cards are already supported.
