Users / Re: Screen Saver?
« on: December 17, 2010, 04:41:38 am »
Hi Raul102801,

I think this happens if you have loaded KDE desktop, then gone back into the orbiter. If you restart without loading it, or try disabling the KDE screen saver - this should fix it (I think).

Cheers,
WR.

Hi dubchamp26,

Yes it happens to me as well - though not on all ROMs. Some seem to work, but not all.

The ROM files seem to be fine (work in windows) but I have the same experience as yourself on my current build. I'm pretty sure some that are now failing have worked in the past though. Not really sure how to troubleshoot....hopefully someone else can suggest something...?

I would however like you to check something for me. On any UI1 orbiter, check the sort filters and see if you have one called  'program'. This should now sort tv shows based on tv program. Some awesome person added it, making wading through tv shows a lot easier. Some note on this:
Hmmm I tried full orbiter regens, but I only have:
Recently Used
Filename
Title
Performer
Genre
Director

I have updated from the Update 2010-10-13 23333 but not the Update 2010-11-01 23388 as I have not got around to fixing the source.list yet.

How long has the program sort been there for?

golgoj4, you're a star. Works a treat for me too! have not tried it out on most of my media because it was already tagged, but with the exception of my documentaries folder (which didn't match of the 100 or so files for obvious reasons) I seem to get about a 90% success rate the rest. No more errors. Is there anything specific you want me to test on?

No worries, thanks for coding! ;) Let me know when you want more testing.. Could be a very handy tool once done.

p.s - Not sure if you wanted me to retest as well, but just in case i did (just got another copy) -  but same error.

Hey golgoj4,

Thought i'd give this a go too. Just d/loaded and I get the same error as listed at the start of this thread (no arguments).

Does the URL (http://gitorious.org/linuxmce-autotagger/linuxmce-autotagger) have the updated code?

Output:
Code: [Select]
@dcerouter:/home/public/data/linuxmce-autotagger$ sudo ./autotagger
connection made!
Media Autotagger v1.1
"/home/public/data/videos"
This is default scan directory: /home/public/data/videos
"/home/public/data/videos"
19
./autotagger: symbol lookup error: ./autotagger: undefined symbol: _ZN9QListData11detach_growEPii

It got the number of files correct (19) :)

Cheers,
WR

Just had a thought, the motherboard I chose doesn't have an onboard 9-pin serial com port.  Was going to use this for feedback from a Sky HD box, are there any recommended pci cards with serial com ports, or are USB-Serial adapters fine to use.  I have had problems with these in the past at work trying to get them to work with Siemens PLC's as some drivers don't seem to work.  This might be totally unrelated, but thought it was worth asking.

Thanks.

Matt.
Welcome gtsupport :-)

USB to serial works well for me 99% of the time. I do however occasionally get thrown back into the Setup Wizard when my amp gets re-detected. It has been suggested to me that this is because the USB-RS232 device is disappearing/reappearing: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=10795.msg74443#msg74443

....and that a PCI/onboard serial may be better.

Not sure if this is just an isolated occurrence, but something to keep in mind :)

Hey Darren, sorry about the delay.. WiFi troubles (dead router)...

The new version works great on the N1 with Froyo 2.2. No more black screens when flipping from landscape to portrait. Speed is still great. The portrait mode looks a bit skewed, but that is to be expected. Also the scroll arrows are tough to press, but again that is more a form factor thing.

Might be handy if we could force to landscape on these smaller devices (user preference) or maybe this is just a good excuse for me to get an android tablet ;)

Thanks!!!

Cheers,
Adriel.

@darrenmason - not often (not a dev so can't add much value) - but happy to jump on for testing. Let me know when you might be around and I will login for a bit.

Hey Darren,

Using 2.2/Froyo (Enom) on an N1 - won't load for me - i have to force quit the app. logcat:

Yes you did. Nevermind, I just wasn't sure if there was a difference between onboard (as in built-in) vs. PCI/rs232 adapter.

The easiest solution to this, is to literally use a PCI serial adaptor.

This will completely solve the issue of the serial device disappearing/reappearing...

-Thom
Thx Thom - so it is a USB to RS232 cable issue you think? Would a straight up RS232 <=> RS232 also be a fix (assuming your MOBO supports it)...?

Hi Chris,

I have a Denon 2307 connected via RS232 (USB to RS232) and every now and then (also can be days or weeks) I seem to get dumped back into the Wizard to reconfigure what was a fully operational AMP (i.e it seems to get re-detected). After I confirm all inputs etc this goes back to normal.... for a while. This has also happened to me since 0710.

Is this what you are experiencing or is this a different phenomenon?

Cheers,
WR.

Actually I have noticed increase crashes of late from live TV. Maybe since the last update. I get "unrecoverable error" sometimes, others it is something like "frame buffer failed too many times".

I used to get crashes if watching recording shows (i.e before they had finished recording) but of late seems to be crashing for Live TV as well. Can't find much that makes sens in the logfiles (/var/log/mythtv/). Using HDhomerun. What about you?
