31  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 13, 2008, 05:16:54 am
Tekoholic, you just saved me a looooooooong ISO download. Thanks! I'll keep those debs in my back pocket for future Asterisk meddling! Also, what features did you gain with that FreePBX upgrade? Just curious.

You're very welcome.  I just hope I'm not violating licensing, or anything, by putting them up as I've done...

Honestly, I think there are a few modules available for the newer FreePBX, but I've not investigated further.  My initial reason for the upgrade attempt was simply to fix my broken install.  When it didn't go well, I dug around 'till I fixed it.  Once back to stock, and working, I couldn't resist upgrading again, just to see if it would work...

Basically, if it ain't broke, I ain't geeked on it hard enough...  Truly, even as I type it, I know how retarded it sounds, but I sure have fun, and learn a ton doin' it!!

Again, you're welcome, and glad I was able to help!!

So, I've been mucking around with Asterisk lately and decided to destroy my install!  Grin

Realizing what I had done, I went hunting for the original asterisk-pluto and/or pluto-asterisk packages to repair things but could not find them anywhere locally. I searched ("find | grep [Aa]sterisk") my local deb-cache and the install DVD to no avail. (I'm using the 7.10 RC2 i386 single layer ISO if that matters.)  I noticed Tekoholic had similar issues...

In the meantime, I wiped the drive clean and put a fresh install to find asterisk-pluto happily running! Using the adept-manager, it shows the proper package relationships and installed files, but any information for the source package or filename is blank. (I figured the installation grabbed an updated .deb file from the repository and was going to stash it away for safe keeping.)

So, where should I reliably go to pull down the packages if I screw things up again? Apt-get recognizes that other packages depend on asterisk-pluto and pluto-asterisk but tells me it can't locate them in the repositories. Should I add another repository to the apt/sources.list? Do I need to pull down the dual layer DVD ISO? AMD64? Should I rebuild the package from the source? Just looking to make life easer in the future so that small tweaks don't lead to a 6-hour reinstall.

Thanks.

Lego, so far as I've learned, the only place to find the .deb's you need is on the install CD1 iso relative to your architecture (32- or 64-bit).  They are hidden away within the deb-cache dir on root of CD / image.  I did, in the end, copy them into the deb-cache on my own install, and have also put them in a tar.gz.  I'll post it up (gimme' 10 minutes or so) @ http://www.tekoholix.com/LMCE_Asterisk.tar.gz

Anyhow, the way I fixed it, was simply to place JUST these files in a dir, and from CLI, sudo dpkg -i *.deb
Of course, you must first remove anything that might interfere with the clean install...  I wrestled with that for a few...

BTW, in case it matters to anyone, after fixing my install, I DID succeed at upgrading to the newest FreePBX.  Cheesy Currently running "FreePBX 2.5.1.0 on localhost", right nicely.  There are errors displayed, but everything works as it should, AFAIK.

edit:  Upload completed, and will be left there, so long as I don't exceed bandwidth limits.  BTW, this is for the 32-bit arch, NOT for amd64.

Yup, that's surely what I said, and in that order, too...  Keep on twisting it, Napoleon.

You're looking smarter and smarter, and so much more polite.

Here's laughing my A$$ off at ya'...
34  LinuxMCE / Users / Sync / Import of Evolution Contacts to LMCE Phone Book? on: November 06, 2008, 07:18:01 am
OK, now that I've got VoIP running, I'm wondering how I might go about importing my Family's Evolution Contact lists into the LMCE Phone Book??

To begin with, I've got 4 different Contact lists within Evolution.  Of these, 1 is my own Personal, 1 is my Wife's Personal, 1 is my Business Common, and the last is my Backup...

The first 3 are sync'd via Syncevolution, to ScheduleWorld, and then to our Windows Mobile Pro 6.1 phones (Nicknamed WiMPs).  The 4th, Backup, is not sync'd anywhere.

I'd like, if possible, to have all of our contacts imported or sync'd into LMCE's Phone Book.  Anyone know if this is possible?  If so, how?  I can't find Evo, ScheduleWorld, or even WiMP sync/import methods, anywhere I've looked.  Could it really be so, that nobody else has found a need for any of these?

I've seen that it is possible to import MS Outlook contacts into LMCE, but our home has been MS-Free for several years (other than these new phones, for which we had no better options yet).
35  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 06, 2008, 05:46:20 am
Oh, wow...  OK, believe I've fixed my issues here, to some degree.

To begin with, I did have some residual junk on hybrid, from the upgrade attempt...  Had to run Synaptic and Completely Uninstall, as well as Konqeror (as root), to find and delete any and all files related to asterisk and freepbx, except for the .debs I had copied over from install CD.  At this point, I ran / reran "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" and "sudo apt-get -f install", from within a directory where only the correct .debs were located.

Then, add my Inphonex trunk, which shows up as it should (nearly instant registration...).

Rebooted Hybrid (yes, unfortunately it was necessary), Reload Router, Regen Orbiters, and suddenly, everything worx...  At this point, however, I still get errors:

Could not reload FOP server / Could not reload the FOP operator panel server using the bounce_op.sh script. Configuration changes may not be reflected in the panel display.

symlink from modules failed / retrieve_conf failed to sym link the /etc/asterisk/extensions.conf file from modules

Failed to copy from module agi-bin / Retrieve conf failed to copy file(s) from a module's agi-bin dir: copy(/usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/fixlocalprefix): failed to open stream: Permission denied
copy(/usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/user_login_out.agi): failed to open stream: Permission denied
copy(/usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/checksound.agi): failed to open stream: Permission denied
copy(/usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/directory): failed to open stream: Permission denied
copy(/usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/recordingcheck): failed to open stream: Permission denied

copy(/usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/enumlookup.agi): failed to open stream: Permission denied
copy(/usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/dialparties.agi): failed to open stream: Permission denied

As well, although it is not a big deal to me, it may be for my kiddo's and wifey:  9 must be dialed before any phone #'s, to get an outside line (typical PBX behavior).  Hoping there is an easy way around that requirement.  Will hunt it down if there is one...
36  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 06, 2008, 03:12:38 am
So now, back to some real troubleshooting:

Found and copied over asterisk.conf to /etc/asterisk...  Since then, I've gotten the trunk to add and show up correctly under the http://ipaddress/admin pages.

Still getting errors with linking modules, as well as a few others.

As well, attempting to make calls from hybrid, to ANY other location (even those within LMCE network) gives a recorded statement of, "The number cannot be completed as dialed..."

Still troubleshooting...
37  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 06, 2008, 01:58:47 am
You're right...  I went on into /usr/pluto/deb-cache and deleted JUST THESE FEW .DEB FILES, OUT OF ALL THE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS, assuming that I'd never ever ever need them...

And, Yup, just as surely, as above, I deleted the asterisk.conf file, knowing that it was redundant, and would not ever be necessary...

The asterisk.conf file, as far as I can tell, was deleted by the upgrade attempt, after the initial errors began, and NOT REPLACED UPON THE REINSTALL OF STOCK VOIP SW...

The deb-cache has not ever been touched by human hands, since the install.

Don't know, or care if anyone else has run into these problems.  Sure might be nice, to actually have this info in the forums, with any HELPFUL input one might have to add, IN CASE ANYONE ELSE EVER DOES...
38  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 05, 2008, 04:57:42 pm
OK, back to all stock VoIP-related SW installed.

Do have mailx installed, for other purposes.

Receiving emails about every 1/2-hour, quoted below:

"Warning: file(/etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/admin/functions.inc.php on line 135

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/admin/functions.inc.php on line 136
[FATAL] asterisk.conf parsing failure no entries found in /etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf

Fatal error: Call to a member function quoteSmart() on a non-object in /var/www/admin/functions.inc.php on line 685"

I was getting all but the last line of this error, before I TOUCHED the VoIP / Telecom system.  I'm wondering how it is that someone can make an offensive statement such as this, "congratulations, you've trashed your asterisk install.. way to go.", with so many things KNOWN to be troublesome within LinuxMCE, and without making ANY effort to determine for sure that this is actually the case...

Anyhow, I've now completed the signup with Inphonex, and added this account into the Auto-Config system.  Status is blank, has remained for a good few hours, and in my brief attempts with FWD, status also did not change.

If the system is FUBAR'd, it did NOT occur due to user error, but rather, due to flaws within the system, from nearly CLEAN, UNTOUCHED install.  Only things that had been added / changed from clean 32-bit (simply due to reports of flakiness in amd64) DVD install were 2 known good 32-bit MD's, Nagios, and TorrentFlux.
39  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 05, 2008, 12:55:38 am
And now, installing the stock version gives this error numerous times during install, same error on the admin page prior to upgrade attempt:

Warning: file(/etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/admin/functions.inc.php on line 135

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/admin/functions.inc.php on line 136
40  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 05, 2008, 12:15:34 am
These packages should be in the /usr/pluto/deb-cache directory which should have been listed in your /etc/apt/sources.list config file after the install...

Much as I'd have loved for that to be the case, it was not...  I had to go digging into the install CD iso's (disk 1), and found them.  However, still getting numerous errors, attempting to get things running.

In particular, here are the errors the web interface is giving, displayed above the FreePBX Admin stuff, that isn't working:

"Warning: file(/etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf) [function.file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /var/www/admin/functions.inc.php on line 818

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/admin/functions.inc.php on line 819"

BTW, I did, thinking that it might fix this same issue (different line #'s in errors), upgrade to the newest FreePBX version.  Now, of course, I can't even update the modules to make things work...  I'll step back to the stock FreePBX now, to see if it helps.
41  LinuxMCE / Developers / Re: FreePBX upgrade on: November 04, 2008, 06:20:50 pm
OK, finally setting up a VOIP provider, and getting this same error.

Attempted to reinstall packages specified, but they are not available from any of apt-get's default sources (at least asterisk-pluto isn't)...
42  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Which graphics card to offload the CPU? on: September 01, 2008, 04:10:18 am
Thom,

Sad but true, and this brings up the question: Why is it that LinuxMCE is so tailored to the Nvidia GPU's?

Mind you, I love LMCE, and use / recommend nothing but Nvidia when given the choice.

But...  If I had my choice, specifically for their closed attitude toward giving us the same functions and features that are given to the Windows'ers, I'd bail in a heartbeat.

I'm hoping that, now that AMD/ATI has reportedly open-sourced their drivers, we'll see these GPU's better supported by LMCE, and the drivers will perform as they should...

In short, it can't.

Don't ask. NVIDIA will not add the capability to the Linux drivers. Game over. You have to use the CPU to decode everything... either that.. or learn GPU microcode, and do a shader. Smiley
43  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Oops, tried to update MythTV... on: August 15, 2008, 03:27:42 am
You were correct.  At this point, I've tried un / reinstalling all mythtv stuff (all official 0.20, from repos and from CD's), and still cannot seem to get things to play nice.  I may have to do a reload to get it all to work, which is not an appealing thought...  Haven't had any spare time the last few days, and really wanted to wait until there was a new update or public beta, before going thru all that, again...  Maybe, as most of my TV capture is unused ATM, I'll wait, anyway.

Thanx for your help.
44  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Oops, tried to update MythTV... on: August 12, 2008, 08:17:10 pm
OK, oddly enough, the pluto-dcerouter package is nowhere to be found on the DVD image, but was found in the CD1 image, under /image-root/deb-cache/, for future reference...

Now, to see if the MythTV 0.21 will work...
45  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Oops, tried to update MythTV... on: August 12, 2008, 07:31:06 pm
Well, I appreciate the reply.  However, the advice you've given is a bit late, and I already learned it the hard way...

At this point, I'm not concerned with what version of MythTV needs to be used, but where I might find the pluto-dcerouter package.  It is not available via apt-get, although it is referred to.  I'm currently scouring the DVD-DL image, and will be searching thru the CD image as well, if I must.

Thought somebody might be able to offer a new repo URL, as I always get apt errors about package lists not found on the standard apt sources, that might assist my rescuing this system...
