Users / Re: Client will not continue the loading process

The numbers I mentioned seem like they are counting up. Basically the diskless install process has already run and the core detects the client. I cannot tell if there is a kernel panic because the screens flash by to quickly. It is almost as if the core is trying to access the client's hardware but cannot.

Here is a better example:
Code: [Select]
[167.25458] atkbd.c: Spurious ACK on isa 0060/serio0. Some program might be trying to access hardware directly.
[254.545854] atkbd.c: Spurious ACK on isa 0060/serio0. Some program might be trying to access hardware directly.

The numbers continue to increase and never seem to stop. I also notice that the keyboard is non responsive and has the numlock and capslock lights blinking together.

Where are the shows being stored when a recording is made outside lmce? Where are they being stored inside lmce?... I assume in /home/public/data/videos/TV_Shows_NN

I believe the files are being stored in /home/public/data/videos/TV_Shows_NN insde LMCE and outside LMCE. Perhaps I just need to change the read and write permisions for that directory so that the folder can be writen to outside LMCE.

So when I try to install my thin client during the boot up into LMCE I seem to get this loop that has gone on overnight now. I have set up a test network for this using an old hub (10mbs). Here is what I see.

Code: [Select]
atkbd.c: Spurious ACK on isa 0060/serio0. Some program might be trying to access hardware directly.
Does anyone know what this means? There is a number that keeps increasing as well and it seems to go on forever.

Ok so I can watch TV and all outside of LMCE (see http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=2954.0) but for some reason when I attempt to record anything it seems that the TV show records but doesn’t save any data. So, when I go to watch the recorded media later there is nothing to watch. Is there a read and write permission I need to set for a directory when recording TV outside of LMCE?

I just want to point out that the "better integration with MythTV" is a big one. LinuxMCE unfortunately has a reputation for having a less stable MythTV than other distributions which include MythTV. The MythTV installed in LMCE is really no different than the one in other distributions, but unfortunately the "Network Control" feature which LMCE uses extensively to integrate MythTV into the rest of LMCE has had some problems in the past.

Could this "network control" issue cause Myth TV to freeze when ran under LMCE but then work fine if ran from the KDE desktop?

Does MythTV work under KDE, but not in LMCE?
Is there anybody that sees this problem on media directors as well?
Has anybody got the capture card in a media director?

Ok, from what I gather everyone is waiting for the next release of LMCE for this problem to go away. I finally hooked up my cable this weekend to my core and found out that I am also having the same problem. I found no help thus far from this thread other then seeing that a lot of people are having the same problem.
I saw that no one seemed to answer these questions straight out so I figured I would.

1. Yes Myth TV works fine under KDE. It only freezes up under LMCE
2. I am unsure being that I have yet to connect my media directors
3. Not Yet

Has anyone come up with a working solution for Myth that doesn't require us to wait for the next release?

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Integrated Recipes Module

That has to be one of the coolest ideas ever. I thought about building a system for my kitchen just for that. If LMCE could integrate that feature I would be thrilled. I too would help except I don't know the first thing about programming.

I have been looking at the suggestions in the Wiki and the one thing it states is that nVidia cards are the best supported.  But does that mean that the entire card is made by nVidia or just the chipset?

The card does not have to be an nVidia brand card, it just has to have an nVidia chip set. A good budget card would be a card using the nVidia 7x series chip set. If you are in the US I would suggest using Newegg.com. They have good prices and a decent selection of low end nVidia cards. I got mine for $35.00 including shipping and it works like a dream.

Users / Re: What are the minimum requirements for a thin client?

thanks, I will try it out when and see what happens.
It would be nice to have some actual Minimum requirement statistics as a guideline so we can all know what old hardware we can and cannot use.

Someone is going to be giving me a motherboard with an 800mhz AMD processor and 512megs of PC133 RAM. I was just wondering what the minimum requirements are for a thin client on LMCE. Should I even bother trying to set this up as a MD?

Any tips to change the permissions or moving data?

Whenever I find that have problems with moving data to a partition I change the permissions of the partition by using the chmod command. From Konsole type in the following command to give full read, write and executable permissions:

Code: [Select]
sudo chmod 777 /meida/"drive name"
That usually works for me, though there might be a better way... I just don't know it.

After much troubleshooting and a good deal of reading I finally figured it out. Here is the solution for anyone else that might have this problem.
When installing LMCE for some reason it did not detect my Hauppauge 150 PVR correctly. I kept trying to reconfigure my settings in Myth not realizing that the video card information was incorrectly loaded. Instead of using an MPEG format for the card LMCE detected the card as some other format that I did not recognize.
To fix it I logged in to my admin page and under wizard/devices/Media Director I deleted my capture card.
I restarted the computer and LMCE detected the card as if it were just installed. Went through the configuration wizard again and finally it worked.

It seems dumb and simple now but the whole time I assumed that it was a problem with Myth TV and not LMCE.

I hope this information is helpful to someone.

Ok, So I found that I had some other problems with my video drivers. Long story short I reinstalled LMCE because I was unable to resolve the video driver issues I had. So now on a fresh install trying to use the Myth TV function in LMCE using a Hauppauge 150 tuner, what exactly do I need to configure in the Myth backend? I just want to make sure I have it right. I already put in my username and password to download the program guide and that part is working. Someone please give me some suggestions.

Also, Keep in mind that right now I am not connected to my cable TV because I am actually doing the installs at my office. So on earlier installs of a standalone Myth TV box I would just get static. Does LMCE look for some kind of input signal or should it work the same as before?

Thanks
-Dustin
