Users / Can I install 32bit LMCE over my 64bit LMCE?
« on: January 10, 2009, 06:16:44 am »
I have the 64 bit version of LMCE, I have noticed some of the instability described by others. I have reinstalled it a few times now and have noted that when I put in the easy install dvd it gives me some options. One being to keep my settings and just reinstall the OS. I was wondering if I put in a 32bit installer cd if I could do the same so that I don't loose any of my content?

Users / question about lighting events
« on: January 06, 2009, 04:08:46 pm »
I just got my new zwave usb adapter and a wall plug-in for Christmas... I plug it in.. it works... so awesome...
I was reading on the wiki about lighting scenarios and I remember somewhere on this forum someone saying something about events being more relevant to what I want to do.

I want my lights to come on at 4:30 am at 30%. (i got a dimmer switch)
Then I want them to shut off at 5:10 am.

So I decided to create a timed event. Are the events handled like military time?
I didn't notice any am or pm selections for events. set up a "lights on" event for this morning and when I came down stairs my lights were not on so I am wondering if I may have done something incorrectly.

Users / I have a Fiire Chief... Now What?
« on: December 30, 2008, 02:22:32 pm »
OK so for Christmas I got a Fiire Chief remote. I plugged it in and synced it. Seems to work but I have a few questions. I checked the wiki and it mentioned something about installing gyruby. Is this still required to get all the functions of the remote or did this change with the release of 7.10?

Also, I may have a hardware issue but everything worked fine until I started using the Fiire Chief... I was trying to get used to it and was playing with the volume while watching a movie and it seems that if I go into the volume screen one time it works fine. But, if I play with the volume to much.. like 2 or 3 times eventually my video freezes and my MD stops responding to commands. I have to hold down the power button until it shuts down. My MD is a little on the slow side. It has an NVIDIA 5100 pci card with UI2 and translucencies. Running 1 gig of ram and the NIC is an on board 10/100. It also has an Intel Celeron Processor.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Developers / Any Star Trek TNG fans out there... UI 1 Skin Idea
« on: December 23, 2008, 02:21:13 pm »
If I had the means I would do this, but I don't... thats why I am here. I am interested in creating a new UI 1 skin based on a computer interface for Star Trek TNG. I am a huge Star Trek fan and I just think this would be awesome. I would even be willing to pay someone to make this for me and teach me how to install it.

here is a pic of an example.

« on: December 22, 2008, 06:31:21 pm »
I know there was a new driver released. I just need to know if there is support for the ZCU101. I am getting ready to order my zwave components and just want to make sure I get supported hardware.

Users / anyone using a ABIT AB9 motherboard?
« on: December 19, 2008, 03:30:17 pm »
I saw this on new egg for $60 and thought that it might be good for a core or a core/hybrid. I have a friend who is interested in using LMCE and has asked me to help. Anyone out there see any reason why this wouldn't work?

Users / Anyone Using a Microsoft IR blaster?
« on: December 17, 2008, 03:28:46 pm »
Is anyone using a Microsoft IR Blaster? If so Could you point me in the right direction either on wiki or some step by step instructions on how to configure it for LMCE 7.10. I am getting ready to get a new tv and I want to integrate my tv and other AV equipment so I only have to use one remote. I have a Microsoft remote Version 2 (as described on the wiki) and it came with the Microsoft transmitter/receiver.

I haven't tried anything yet I just want to make sure I get a start in the right direction.

Users / Ok.. I did something dumb... again... duplicate database entries
« on: December 06, 2008, 03:47:35 am »
So once again I was fooling around where I shouldn’t have…
I had some DVD’s that I have ripped to a drive that is not managed automatically by LMCE. I noticed when I went to drive from the admin page that these files didn’t look like they were listed in the database. So I used the drop down menu on the media sync page and labeled my DVD’s as LinuxMCE DVD… now I have 2 entries for each movie that I changed. How do I get rid of one entry without deleting the DVD file its self?

Users / Web Orbiter stuck on detected new plug & play device screen
« on: December 05, 2008, 05:39:19 pm »
For some reason my web orbiter is stuck on the "detected new plug & play device" screen. I have tried to regen the orbiter, reloaded the router and tried deleting the orbiter.  None of my other obiters show this screen and when I click on the Ignore option screen just refreshes.
How can I get past this screen. Is there some way to clear it from the admin page?

Users / Audio Media file format question
« on: December 03, 2008, 05:46:49 pm »
I know LMCE will detect mp3's but I have a lot of .m4a files that I had backed up from my ipod.

Does LMCE detect these files and add them to the audio library automatically?

Do I need to download anything?

If so from where?

If not supported is my best solution just to convert them to mp3?

I am sure this has been asked before so I will search but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I decided that I want to access a web orbiter from my work. I went through the directions on the wiki and I cannot seem to get it working. I am wondering if someone might be able to give me some pointers.

I set the security setting in the admin page to Allow outside access to the website.
Then I went to the network settings and made sure to put in my user name and password as well as my URL from dyndns.org.

When I try to access my admin page from within my home using the URL it works but when I try from any other source outside my home network it times out.

Are there any firewall rules I need to set for LMCE and if so how?

I am not using any kind of router before my cable modem. Internet connection comes straight from the COX cable modem directly to my Core.

any pointers would be appreciated.

Users / What is better ZWave or X10?
« on: November 24, 2008, 10:48:01 pm »
Getting ready to finally get my lights and some sockets connected to LMCE.
Wondering which one is best ZWave or X10?
I have seen both in the forum and wiki and I just want the overall opinion.

I am looking for ease of install, ease of troubleshooting and ease of use.
Cost and availability is a plus too...

So I was wondering if there is a place to get reports or live views of what my family is looking at on any system running through my core to get to the internet? I really haven't seen any entries about that kind of feature. Basically I am getting ready to put a MD in my sons room and I want to be able to see what he is looking at online and if possible be able to restrict access to certain things. Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Users / Loading JavaMO on Blackberry 8830 World edition
« on: October 24, 2008, 07:19:12 pm »
I was wondering if there were any step by step instructions for loading the JavaMO on my new blackberry 8830. If anyone has any information I would be greatful. I have checked the forums and the wiki and found some info but nothing that outlines what I need to do exactly to get it loaded.

Thanks

Dustin
