Thanks for the response  :)

From what I have read they don't use real wi-fi so as to not interferer with any current technologies, the remote has written on the bottom "Frequency 433.92 Mhz".

The dimmer switch I have is rated at 220-240 V 50Hz, will they work ok for you?

So if I can get you the basic kit i.e. dimmer swith/bulb and so called wifi link you think you can get this technology integrated into lmce?

Thanks for all the help so far.

Matt

Hi Hari,

I was asking about integrating the lightwaverf (http://www.lightwaverf.com/) dimmable switches and sockets into linuxmce on the forum (http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,13175.0.html) and it was suggested that I

"send a starter kit to hari"

I am a little unsure what I need to send to you? can you give me some idea of what you would need? or even if you would be interested in doing something like this, these switches are readily available in the UK in our major DIY shops so would probably get a good uptake of lmce users utilising them.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick response.

When you say starter kit, what does this involve?

thinking of getting a wifi link to enable me to do some testing/playing so hopfully this will get me in the right direction.

Hi,

Is there currently or are there any future plans to make use of the LightwaveRF Wifi Link to control lighting with lmce. In the UK dimmable switches and controllable sockets are readily available in B & Q and screwfix and there is a wifi link (not really wifi I think in the usual sense) that currently allows an iphone app to control all the sockets and switches.

Cheers for any thoughts on this

Hi,

Has anyone utilised LMCE to run and office security, lighting and media?

Any thoughts on if this would be a good idea or not?

Installation issues / PVR 150 won't change mode to PAL
« on: August 28, 2010, 04:49:56 pm »
Hi,

I am in the UK and had a pvr150 setup taking an input from my sky box and it was working ok, but I added a conextant 4 port pci card to take the input from my security cameras and after this I lost my input. I have managed to go through the setup wizard again and can get a picture and sound again but the picture looks like I have it set to NTSC when actually I need it to be PAL but I don't know how to change it?

is it something todo with the ivtv software or is it controlled by mythtv? I have changed setting in mythtv setup  but I still can't get it work.

will the conextant card be using ivtv aswell, is this maybe messing it up?

thanks

Installation issues / MD mythtv not working 1244 1254 error
« on: June 27, 2010, 06:42:30 pm »
Hi,

I have just done a clean install (NOT DVD) after getting a 1244, 1254  db schema error on the MD when trying to use Mythtv and I am still getting it now, I have read there have been issues with moving from 0.22 to 0.23 and where the packages are downloaded from.

trying to update and upgrade the MD doesn't seem to download any updates and it looks like mythfront end is the wrong version.

where can I go from here to get the MD updated to allow mythtv to work?

Installation issues / Re: New install - MythTV setup problem
« on: June 20, 2010, 08:03:07 pm »
thanks for letting me know,

when I am in the inital setup although it finds my nova t500, I think because I am in the UK, it gives me a message about not being able to setup mythtv at this stage and to use mythtv setup instead which is why I had gone down this avenue.

should I be able to setup this card in the UK using the setup wizard?

thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the responses, I tried

sudo mythtv-setup

but it looks like I should stop mythtv backend before running as if I don't mythtv setup gives errors.

So have done an update and upgrade as thom suggests that he has released a fix but I still don't have the mythtv setup in the computing menu, is there anything else I need to do to get this fix working?

cheers J

how do i solve this? do I have to wait for the bug to be sorted out or is there away around?

I have tried to update and upgrade but the issue is still there

Installation issues / Mythtv No Lock
« on: June 10, 2010, 09:41:47 pm »
Hi,

I am having problems with myth tv and a No Lock issue.

I can get mythtv to work sometimes and then after a while I will  get a no lock error which means I can't see any of the channels.

I have just had a new roof ariel put on the roof and get a signal of 80% but although there are now more channels when I do a scan i still get the no lock message happening.

I have a kworld 399u usb stick tuner and this glows looking as though its on and can get a good signal but then it will go off.

To try and get it to find the channels again I have to restart a few times.

what does this error mean? how can I not get a lock when I have 80% signal and I can get the channel sometimes and not others?

Thanks

Installation issues / Re: Security camera stops after reload
« on: June 04, 2010, 01:54:21 pm »
I have experienced similar issues with an analog capture card and 2 cameras.

I initially set it up and it worked for a while but again it seemed to get stuck after a reload with a static image of the last successful input from that particular camera.

yeah that problem looks as though it was sorted out 6 months ago but does seem to be the issue I am experiencing - how has the issue crept back into my installation?

I undestand that the issue is with a symlink from the vmlinuz and initrd.img files located in the /tftpboot/md#/ directory but what I am unsure of is where the symlink should be changed to go to.

is the file initrd.img-2.6.27-15-generic located somewhere as I don't seem to be able to find it or should I be linking to initrd.img-2.6.27-7-generic instead?
