What UI option did you choose?

dude, why are you turning your Core/MD off?

You need to provide more details about your setup, particularly your hardware. We can't diagnose anything without that.

Users / Re: Target Hardware - TiVo?
« on: September 30, 2007, 06:47:45 pm »
Simplest reply?

The hardware is very tightly coupled, and ALL of the drivers for the important parts are written by Tivo themselves, and while the source code modifications for what Tivo has done are downloadable (per the software license compliance of the GPL), they can not be uploaded into a TiVo because of the software validation processes which prevent non-signed updates from being flashed into the system.

Trust me man, been there, done that, lost sanity, don't even think about it unless you somehow know of a way to bypass all the insane hardware lock-down that nobody has been able to of late.

I would suggest adding the Buffalo NAS solutions there as well, as they work out of the box with minimal effort.

VFD support is still only limited to when MythTV is running. LinuxMCE as a whole does not use it yet.

oops, sorry! my bad...

yeah, it must be a similar problem... hm..

again, I am gonna ask, are you running UI2 with alpha blending? if so, you're being subjected to the same goofy thing I've noticed on the hybrids, where the windows aren't stacking properly. change to UI2 with Masking and i'll bet you see your flickr images.

in the mean time, how the hell do we fix this?

what would I need to do, to make it accept those, if I needed to?

you're welcome. :-)

you'll need to go into the KDE Desktop, and open up a Konsole

type mysql pluto_media -uroot

then type the following to see if any of the media was found from upnp:

SELECT Path from File WHERE Path LIKE '%upnp%';

did any match?

if so,

DELETE from File WHERE Path LIKE '%upnp%';

and that should get rid of them....

yes, but there is not a pause/play media event there. I know this.. I need to find a way to shove the event in there.

dude, seriously. look on the linuxmce wiki under GSD (Generic Serial Device).. it provides a web-based interface for sending commands to any serial port based device... all of what I mention below is done via the web interface...

basically, you need to create a device template, that is a climate device (use the pull-downs to select the appropriate device type)..

at which point, you will be walked through a series of checkboxes etc to pick which commands you want to implement, and you'll be given boxes to enter commands to send down the serial port. You can check each command to make sure they work properly, and when you're ready, you can save the device template, and add the device to your system, again using the web based interface.. If it is possible to detect the device over the serial port (say, a specific sequence of commands etc), a plug-and-play script can be created to automatically detect the device as it is plugged into the serial port (this part is manual).

Before I plonk down money on one of these guys, does the system currently support these? or will I need to write a driver?

more than likely, it's caused by an open access point, which is exposing a UPnP socket...this is what I experienced when I temporarily opened my firewall for some outside testing of the orbiter software overnight...Other UPnP systems see it, and LinuxMCE goes.. OH, hey, let's import that media....

I had to go in with mysql and delete the offending entries with a DELETE query on the media table with any Path that had /mnt/upnp in it.

so the moral is, please make sure if you expose ports, to close them when you're done.
