Card is recognized by kubuntu and shows up in kmix and is listed under alsa but no luck ..... I aee some others have had this issue but not much luck finding a solution

I am trying to install an RPM package and 1 i dont find any package manager in the GUI. 2- when I try to install it with apt-get from the command line it comes back saying it cant find that package even though I am iun the correct directory. recommendations?

I was never asked to set one that I remember (installed with DVD) and I am not sure how to deal with this.... hoe do I get into root in the console? or more to the point did i miss something ... I have looked but am not having much luck

I want to dump my SKY box if I can and use a dvb card. If anyone has one working what model of card do you have? Does ti support surround sound? Is there a HD version? is there anything I should know about getting it to work. I may also be ok with being able to control the box with rs-232 if it allows me to see the guides.
