Users / Re: Two Android Orbiters - pros and cons ?
« on: May 27, 2011, 08:54:07 pm »
No.  There were no install/configure directions or links to install/configure directions with the app.

So its a manual config as opposed to the automagical config.

I will check into it.

Like I said...

"Did I miss something ???   As I don't see any other directions."

Unfortunately, the two devs did not really joined forces, so a lot of energy was wasted.

los93sol's orbiter was suppose to be more advanced.

darrenmason's orbiter was the only one I got to work.

Ref:-

I'm on linuxmce 10.04 with current updates.

I just downloaded the orbiter from the provided link to my Droid (original) phone running Android 2.2.2

http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/browser/people/darrenmason/AndroidTouchOrbiter/bin/AndroidTouchOrbiter.apk

I set the wireless to my .80 router, it picked up an IP address at 192.168.80.249

I can login to the admin at 192.168.80.1

I get a blank screen and when I click refresh, I get  'Connection Failed'

Did I miss something ???   As I don't see any other directions.

Users / Re: Is anybody using the GE NX-8E for their alarm panel?
« on: May 21, 2011, 03:57:07 am »
The main features on most alarm panels are:-

1)   set alarm away

2)   set alarm home (PIR's disabled)

3)   set entry/exit door to immediate

4)   disable alarm

Sometimes, but not always, 2 & 3 are combined.

If you can configure the above, that will do most people.

Anything extra is icing on the cake as it can still be accomplished from the actual alarm control panels.

YMMV.

Wasn't there an Insteon solution for irrigation ?

OK - I googled   -      EZFloraIV1

I thought someone had done some work on this, but on searching the forum, maybe not.

Actually, I think its been renamed and was previously called   EZrain

I would honestly recommend an HDHomeRun, if you want a ClearQAM tuner...otherwise, get a Hauppauge HD-PVR and attach to your cable box's component out.

The Gyro remotes have their own transceiver and do not use the USB UIRT. However, the UIRT will prove instrumental in IR control of your A/V gear.

-Thom

If you don't have a cable box with component, only HDMI, I have HEARD that HD Fury2 or better still, 3 will remove the HDCP giving you a clean signal for storage on the HD-PVR b=via component.

Anyone have any other info on that product, or know anyone that has tried it, speak up.

Some spam prevention modules have been installed. In theory they should make life hard for the spammers, but should be OK for real people. I never used these before, so I have no idea if they'll behave themselves. If they misbehave, please drop me a line.

Is there a option to moderate (or captcha) the first 'x' e.g. 5 posts of new members on SMF ?

This will usually block spammers that break through the other new account systems.

Worth checking into.  Security and anti-spam requires a layered system.  As they get more clever, you adjust and change the layers.

Users / Screensaver keeps coming on when playing movie
« on: September 20, 2010, 06:15:37 am »
Hi.

Just searched on screensaver, but nothing relavent came up.

So I haven't used LinuxMCE (its a test system) for 2-3 weeks but wanted to watch a movie so I did the update, upgrade.

Start watching the movie, and after several minutes, the screen goes blank.  Press return and its back.  Several more minutes and it blanks again.  Seems like a screensaver to me.

Not sure why ?

OK - any ideas on how to fix this problem ?

The successfully RIP'd and ejected DVD is still showing in the Video's and the Manage drive window.

Users / DVD still shows in menu and manage drives windows
« on: June 09, 2010, 10:28:08 pm »
So i rip'd a DVD 3 or 4 days ago.  When it had finished, i went into manage drives and ejected it.

It stayed visible in the video menu and the manage drives menu even though it was ejected.  I expected it to clean itself up after time, but here we are, 3-4 days later, and it is still visible in both locations.

???

Any ideas ?
