I got a cheapo SPDIF card but ran into this issue:

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=10428.0

Sadly no help on the web at the moment...

Doesn't seem to say anything about SPDIF. It's also not mentioned on the Startech page for that device.

Do you have any links for the £10 SPDIF devices you mentioned before?

It also works fine on the normal VMWare workstation which you can install on top of linux or Windows. I have been running a DVB stick in this way for several months with no issue.

Just a thought: maybe multitouch gesture support would be one differentiator for a paid product?

eg. Scroll up and down lists of media (ok, this isn't multitouch - granted)
Double swipe up and down - control volume
Double swipe left and right - ff/rw
etc

Anyone try this?

Seems to come up a lot on ebay and is the cheapest USB SPDIF capable device I have found.

24  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Re: Dianemo & Cascade Systems from CHT - Now Shipping World Wide on: July 07, 2010, 12:07:01 pm

The sources are in the svn - you can make changes to the .js, .php & .html files and make the process of connecting to a Web Orbiter very different if you choose too. You don't need to make any changes to proxy_orbiter & therefore you don't need to know any C++ to achieve any of these changes at all.

How would you feel about me creating a permanent session so that a client could be logged in forever and also store in there which instance of the web orbiter to connect to?
25  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Re: Dianemo & Cascade Systems from CHT - Now Shipping World Wide on: July 06, 2010, 12:25:58 pm

You create a separate Web Orbiter for each physical device in Wizard-Orbiters and set the 'Size' parameter to the appropriate size for your device.

I was wondering more about how to get around having to log in and select from the drop-down. This is fiddly on an iPod or iPhone, N770, etc.

Thanks,

Chris
26  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: IR Codes Deleted on: July 02, 2010, 08:38:38 pm
I made new templates with new IR groups. The groups and templates are still there but the IR groups have no commands in them.

Really weird....
27  LinuxMCE / Users / IR Codes Deleted on: July 02, 2010, 06:53:28 pm

IR codes seem to have been deleted for 3 out of 4 of my AV devices. I created all codes manually as they were not in the db.

Has anyone seen this before?

Chris

Does this mean LMCE can eventually drop all other orbiters? ;-)

Andrew how to you normally configure for multiple devices - say I have iphone, ipad, n880, PC all wanting different sizes? It seems that after log in you get a drop down combo box which is not very easy/neat. Any ideas?

Valent if you are keen then you should be able to knock up a GSD device to control the XBMC as if it were a STB. I am guessing that then you just need to make a device template for it which includes the launching of the app itself. I really don't know about that last bit though. You'll need to ask around. It may be possible to do it all without coding anything more than ruby but I'm not certain.
