Hi Techstyle

That would be good. However I am impatient and will probably buy one before then! Or hack some script to call irsend!

Also you still based stateside? Might be a long way to send a remote!
Thanks for the offer anyway!

Hi Guys

I have sucesfully setup my LG tv via serial and can control nicely through Dianemo.

However I am unable to turn 3d mode on and off.

Idealy it would be great if I could set a atttribute of the Side by Side 3d mkv files I have on my system and when I play them have it autimatically send the command to the TV to turn it into the required 3d mode.

However a simple button on the Video remote on an orbiter to select the modes would do.

The manual for my TV gives me the commands to change into these modes. I just dont know how to go about putting everything else into place.

So can a pronto code learned from a USB-UIRT be blasted with a mce_usb2 tranceiver?

Regards
20  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Learning IR Codes from a Remote on: July 23, 2012, 10:30:07 pm
Thats all very well, However I live in the UK and the already expensive USB-UIRT is even more expensive once you have allowed for shipping to the uk.

Also it is made even more un cost effective when all I want this to do is to send an on/off command to a tv.

Not having much luck transfering this lirc to hex.

Hi

Any idea how I would go about translating those into pronto codes?

I tried remotecentral.com but couldnt find the codes.

Is there no way to get linuxmce to use lirc irsend? Some kind of basic device that sends a shell command to call irsend?

Well the easiest way surely is just to work out how to clear the database and let it pick everything up again?

Ok well I have managed to get lirc to contorl this tv from the command line.

I have used irrecord to setup a basic config for the remote

begin remote

  name  technika
  bits           32
  flags SPACE_ENC|CONST_LENGTH
  eps            30
  aeps          100

  header       8956  4368
  one           604  1637
  zero          604   537
  ptrail        591
  repeat       8924  2220
  gap          106711
  toggle_bit_mask 0x0

      begin codes
          KEY_POWER                0x00FE50AF
      end codes

end remote

I have added that to my /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

I can now use the following command using irsend to toggle the tv on/off

irsend SEND_ONCE technika KEY_POWER

Now how do I tell the device template I have created for my tv to use this?

24  LinuxMCE / Users / Learning IR Codes from a Remote on: July 23, 2012, 01:30:32 pm
Hi Guys

I have a mce_usb2 tranceiver connected to my MEdia Director.

I am trying to setup my Technika 40 Inch LCD TV to be controlled via infrared.

I cannot seem to find the pronto codes for my tv so would like to learn them from my existing control.

I have created a mew device in a/v Equipment in webadmin and assigned it to the correct room. I have gone into A/VV Properties and tried to add by learning the code but this does not seem to be supported with my tranceiver.

I have used irrecord to record the raw codes but when I put these in manually in the av properties section of my new device it does not blast.

And help would be appreciated.

I am wondering if this is the same issue I am having.

Is it that the old tag is still there?

I think this is because the tag is still in the database.

I have retagged all my mp3's then recopied them back to my Dianemo server.

I appear to still have tags of files which are still there but showing there old album names.

Whats the easiest way to clear the media database and get it to scan afresh?

27  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Dianemo S - Control LG TV RS232 on: July 16, 2012, 09:30:53 pm
Ok

Well I have used the TestSerialPort command with the commands from /usr/pluto/pnp/20_LG_TV and I get no response.

Should I be using a Straight through cable or a crossover?

The LG manual is contradicting. On the diagram it shows a straight through but on the specs says crossover.

Hi Armor

How did you go about setting this up and configuring the device?

I have added a Generic LCD RS232 device to my A.V Equipment but cannot seem to get it setup.

Hi Andrew.

Thanks for that. I am eager to get my TV being controlled by my system. At least I can test out sending commands to the TV and see if it is actually working.

Do you have anything rough you can send on setting this up?

Hi Andrew

The audio device for Room 2 I have set as the TV which is an LG RS232 device created in Av Equipment in the lmce admin.

The Audio device for Room 7 is the AppServer for the MD as these just have a basic set of pc speakers connected to the audio out.

Once I create the file do I need to reboot the whole system or do anything else to get it to read said file?
