I know!

Install paprefs and run it, there is then an option to "Make discoverable Apple Airtunes sound devices available locally"

That then shows up in the main pulse control tool as an option to direct audio streams to (per app!).  Pulse is really quite a nice bit of kit, streaming between pulse servers works well, this appears to work less well, but I don't know where the problem lies at all.

The way I've noted that _should_ work (I haven't made it fully work yet).

Pulseaudio allows you to stream data out via DNLA and Airplay, both of which the MDs support, to an extent.

I've had music from desktop spotify play via an airplay stream to an MD, although no, actual, sound came out, both ends recognised each other and connected to each other.
I haven't investigated further, but that might be a possibility.
The other one would be to integrate pulse audio into an MD as another audio server option alongside an airplay server, as pulse audio network playing is pretty solid in my experience.

I've got the basics working I think, in the usb uirt that arrived today. volume up/ down, on/off, source selection via the discrete codes seem to work.  Which is pretty much what I need.

I'll try those codes on the ir trans, as that'd be awesome to be able to use instead (given how much cheaper they are over here.). then the usb uirt can go in another room.

Thanks for the offer though!

How would I get this back into the master DB?

David.

whoop, found a thread containing almost all the codes.
http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-discrete/thread.cgi?5780

How would I wrap this up for submission?

Except there is one on EBay right now going for $12.00!

David,
You need to set up a device template for your TV, if you want, I will set one up for you if you donate an amount to the community (for the SCALE show).   I would need to see if this device is in the Logitech Harmony database, but I am sure it is

I've donated a bit more now, for a worthy cause.
... any chance of a template :-)

awesome, thanks.

Sent another 100 euros.  I don't mind where it goes.

Indeed.

I just bought a USB-UIRT, but I'll happily use that in a different room.  Some way to get these things to work cleanly is better for me, as the manufacturer is in europe, and so they they are waay cheaper, for if I need to buy any more.

That does sound pretty cool.  I donated a chunk of cash a week or so ago for SCALE, does that count?  :-)

I've checked the logitech harmony DB (assuming this is it http://www.logitech.com/harmony/components) and it does support the TV, apparently.

I wonder if there might be some way to automated the extraction of the codes into LMCE?  Anywho, dreaming.  Setting up a template would be legendary, and would make you, officially, awesome.

David.

Hey, just wondering if anyone had any experience using an IR Trans IR blaster/ receiver?

I got one as it seemed to be specifically supported by LMCE, but the learning function doesn't seem to work.

My TV doesn't seem to have well publicised IR codes (samsung UE40ES6300).

Ideally I could get this to learn IR codes, think thats possible?

Cheers,

David

Yo,

I was wondering if anyone had any recommended screens (monitor, TV, whatever) to use.  around the 38 inch mark, full HD.  Something that can be plugged into an MD and then everything works automatically....
I've had a look through the wiki, but I've not seen anything.  If I've missed the page, I'd be grateful for a link :-)

Cheers,

David.

Further update.

I've tested on a samsung note and a nexus 7 and got it working well on both.

UI - Normal Horizontal 3:4   (the missing UI elements seems to be related to this, not the skin)
Skin - Titanium blue/ green
Size: Note - 1280x800,  Nexus 7 - 720p

Both then fit into the screen perfectly.

Once its working, it seems to stay working, just a bit of a dance to get things configured right.

Job done, it works.  Happy.

Some more bug reports.

The name/ description of the orbiter is seemingly not persisted, instead it always comes through as 'Generic Proxy Orbiter'.
It appears that the basic skin is being chosen rather than titanium blue (which is what I select in the android app).

The black screen does appear if your settings haven't been applied fully somehow (not sure of the lifecycle of things here), a quick reload router in the admin seems to be a needed step.

Also, I'm not sure where this is coming from, but I have generic proxy orbiters being created every so often, totally unconfigured.  Seemingly just the one, and when I delete it, within 20 mins or so a new one is made with a new ID.

its actually working quite well, nice and quick.  If I could just store the creds, this is a workable solution to remote controls.

I'll be buying some cheap android pads to use as remotes, happy in the knowledge that qOrbiter will replace it at some future point.

Nice one!

aha, selecting the 'titanium blue' skin works much better, no black screens, user/ room selector in place.

oh yes, and I seem to have to log in every time I boot the orbiter, is there a way to store the credentials somehow?
