Installation issues / Tranquil Harmony Home Server as a Core
« on: April 29, 2008, 09:39:29 am »
Hi

I am currently using a Tranquil Harmony Home Server (http://www.tranquilpc.co.uk/T7.htm) as a Windows Home server which is working great, it is completely quiet and very fast at serving up my media. Would this system be suitable as a Core?

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

« on: April 29, 2008, 09:36:03 am »
Hi

I have have used the both the B4 and RC1 DVD installer on my pc to install LinuxMCE. Both installs finished and I restarted the machine but I am unable to access the AVWizard. I get the beebs and choose 1 for DVI and have also tried all the resolution keys but the screen remains blank. I have also tried svideo from the card but still no display.

I read somewhere that their may be issues with the NVDIA 880GTS 320MB Card that I am using.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Hi andymck

Thanks for your message. I am based in Dublin postage costs would not be more than €32.00 for next working day delivery with good insurance. Could be delivered cheaper than that for around €20.00 takes 2-3 days. The prices quoted are for just the parts not the case. I would suggest that you use a different case perhaps one of the living room htpc types. I can send you some photos if you send me an e-mail address pictures are way too big forr this post. The 2X GEFORCE 7600 NVDIA cards in SLI configuration (Work perfectly for UI2) are both 512mb cards. I can also supply a bigger hard drive (250gb) but it is not a SATA drive. Please let me know if you are interested as I have a number of people thinking about the system. Your the nearest and the least hastle when it comes to posting, so I would prefer to sell it to you.  ;D

Thanks again for yourpost and I sincerely hope that we can do business.

LM12U Lamp module €15.00
LM12 Lamp module €15.00

It allow you to control eight devices and a macro function as well.It will also contol x10 devices in conjuction with a transceiver. The CM11A will work with all home automation software I have used it with Homeseer, Mcontrol and LinuxMCE it also has some memory for storing macros.

Everything is as new and works perfectly.

Hi guys

Thank you for the replies I really appreciate it, I will happily post pictures in the next few days.

Hi cyf4746

Thanks for your comment I am not selling LinuxMCE I am selling a PC that I have built with components that are supported by LinuxMCE. I am only selling the hardware and not the software. I have LinuxMCE installed and it works really well with UI2 and Alpha Blending in fact it looks great and is extremly fast, so I will leave it setup on the HDD and provide the required install disks. It is an ideal core/MD setup. I have two of these PC's and only require one and took the opportunity to offer this to the community in the hope of benefiting another user and aquring funds to increase my current LinuxMCE setup.

This PC is heavy so I would be happy to strip it down and send all the components and you could put them into your own case. This would save a lot on the cost of posting and you get to choose the case. I would treduce the price slighlty to reflect this.

Thanks again.

Hi

I got a screen indicating that an update was available and asking if I wanted to install it. There was no option for Yes or No I just clicked the arrow. Restarted PC but no sign of the update being installed. Have I missed something?

Thanks

Thanks

« on: August 30, 2007, 03:40:36 pm »
Hi jayzee

I am using LinuxMCE to replace my Sky+ box here in Ireland, I am using the Hauppauge PVR500 twin tuner card and it works great. Also saves a PCI slot. I am still in the proces sof getting it all to work but it will be more flexable once it is sorted. My biggest problem is getting the epg sorted. I have so far beeen unable to get my hands on a grabber for Sky's Irish lineup. This is a work in progress.

The multiroom option works very well, I have a hybrid core and one other MD at the moment and I am able to watch live tv on both without any problems. There can be lag sometimes because of the network will upgrade the network soon.

Perhaps you could use a MB with two network interfaces on board? I have an ASUS board on the core that has both interfaces on board and it works a treat again saving a pci slot.

Keep us posted as to how things are going.

Hi Zaerc

No it worked fine when I configured the right port (usb) via the admin page, I have set up a few lights and I am looking into setting up a couple of fans as well.

Thanks again for your help and adding to the wiki page very handy.
