Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Insteon Automation Support
« on: August 14, 2007, 06:27:58 am »
We're currently working on Insteon integration.  The plan is to use the Powerlinc V2 controller from Smarthome. I'm sure Paul will let you know when we get to something we can release.

Just to clarify, I don't think the core will wake it up until you take some action to do so (i.e. clicking on that room in a orbiter.  There is no way for the core to know that you moved into that room until you do so.

Installation issues / Re: Fiire Station specs anyone looked inside
« on: August 12, 2007, 10:55:33 pm »
I'm just speculating based on what I've read about the units, but it wouldn't surprise me.  After all, the ATI and Nvidia drivers that most Linux users have to install to get 3D acceleration (including LMCE) are closed source.

So it seems like the Via Unichrome Pro II drivers used on the fiire station will support the compositing extensions and alpha blending that the Nvidia drivers support.  I noticed on the web site that they list the drivers as fully licensed.  I'm guessing that these are binary (closed source) third party drivers.  Does anyone know where they are getting their video drivers?

Just like with the USB hub issue, I am having the same issue here.  Would you like to file the mantis report or should I?

Developers / Re: ZWave sources in SVN?

The Zwave sources are included in the source tarball available on the mirrors page in both .torrent and direct download.  I don't think they've made it into the SVN repository yet.

Thanks for working this issue.  If you figure out a way to keep 2.0 high speed operation, please let us know.

Guys, I am also having this problem with my USB hub.  For further information, I am using a USB KVM to switch my keyboard and mouse and haven't had any issues with those.

Does anyone know any available Z-wave USB interfaces that work with LinuxMCE?  The only one I know of that is officially supported is the ZCU000 that is out of production and no longer available.  The ZCU101 replacement is due to ship soon, but has anyone else gotten one of the other interfaces to work?  I know the Intermatic stick was not recognized by Pluto.

The standard that I've seen is to put it into the core, though I'm not certain yet that you can't install it into an MD.  You should be fine installing a Z-wave transmitter into the core because each device will retransmit messages down the line.  This means that your core doesn't have to be in range of the furthest device, as a z-wave device in the middle will forward messages.

Right now, LinuxMCE will only work with the KDE desktop and Ubuntu Feisty.  This is distributed as Kubuntu. There are plans to make it compatible with a wider range of Linux distributions, but that is not available yet.

As requested, a wiki page on PXE booting with GRUB, I'm sorry I can't make it any easier but I tried to describe it the best I could.

Thanks!

Users / Re: Windows PC as a Media Director?
« on: July 26, 2007, 09:25:24 pm »
The media directors network boot for MD operation, off of the core.  This means that you can have whatever OS you want on the local hard disks, and just choose to boot off of the hard disk instead of the network boot to access that OS.

A 770 will work very well for control.  Michael Stepanov, who I think I've seen here on the forums, has done a lot of work in getting it going.  You can find out more info here:

This is a fairly complicated piece of software, but it's really powerful and can be a lot of fun.  Go ahead and play around with it.

The room that you assign to the squeezbox to does not need a MD.  In fact , it may be easier initially if it does not have an MD.  That way, when you select that room to play audio through, it will definitely play it through the squeezebox.  I installed mine this way and it works OK.
