Thanks Hugo - that seems to have done the job.
I can't get MythTV working - it says that I am using all the inputs at the moment.
I thought I would start with a simpler product - Kaffeine. When I try and Auto scan for channels I only pick up BBC1 HD (I'm in the test area).
I can hear BBC1 HD, but it just shows a Kaffeine holding page for the video - I guess this is a codec issue with it being HD.
Anyway I have tested the TV signal and it is fine with my Microsoft MCE. Any ideas how to tune in for the UK?

Hi,
I just installed my new Nova-T 500 (I've switched to Kubuntu now) I get this message in the dmesg:
[ 15.140000] dvb-usb: found a 'Hauppauge Nova-T 500 Dual DVB-T' in cold state, will try to load a firmware [ 15.156000] dvb-usb: did not find the firmware file. (dvb-usb-dib0700-01.fw) Please see linux/Documentation/dvb/ for more details on firmware-problems. (-2)
I don't think this looks good? What is cold state?

Hi,

I selected it and it recieved a msg: Bluetooth PlutoMO.sis
When I open the msg it says: "Installation of 'PlutoMS.sis' not supported"
Anybody any ideas - or do I need a newer phone?
Thanks Mike

Hi,
I want to get Kubuntu up and running ready for 1.1 release. Should I install the desktop or the command line version? Does it make any difference.
In the future I want to have the quickest start up possible - would the command line version be better for this?
Thanks Mike

The exact cards I am using are WinTV-NOVA-T-DVB-T 90003 LF (Rev C2B0)
If the dual 500 works I might invest in one of these, but it would be nice to see it working with these Nova-T's
Interested to hear about your setup DrACoNus - is that in the UK? What High Def source are you using?

Is it one of these that tells me the drivers are loaded:
cx8802 19332 0 cx8800 35212 0 cx88xx 67364 2 cx8802,cx8800
Because the Conexant chips have the following codes on:
DVB-T chip CX22702-25 Broadcast Decoder chip CX23882-39
In tvtime I selected Europe, then I unistalled and asked it to scan but neither made a difference. The screen was black the whole time and it just showed DVB, but no channel number in the top right corner. (Should it say DVB-T?)
I'll try kdetv as well.

LinuxMCE / Users / Is Linux MCE better than Pluto?

Hi,
I new to the whole Linux approach for MC, but I'm really impressed with what you can do vs Microsoft MCE.
At this point I have two options: LinuxMCE or Pluto. Is one better and why?
Thanks Mike

I just tried tvtime. It didn't work. I think it recognises the card but it isn't working properly. Surely Ubuntu has the latest driver? Is there a beginner’s guide to updating drivers anywhere?

So just to clarify - you only need tv tuner cards in the core machine. Not the Media extender machines. Is there a limit?
Also I just took a look through Pluto. What AV control devices are supported? I see they talk about the gc100 from Global Cache. Any others?
Finally - I have a wireless netgear router at home which the internet comes in on. If I build a core with 2 network cards. I can plug one of them straight into the router and the other one into a switch. All the Media extenders then get wired into the switch for network boot. Do I have to disable the DHCP in the netgear router even if non of the extenders are linked to this device? The reason I ask is that we use some Windows based laptops for internet surfing and they get assigned by DHCP.
Thanks

Hi,
I haven't installed Linux MCE yet as I'm waiting for 1.1 release. I just want to check my video cards look okay though. I have 2 WinTV-NOVA-T DVB-T 90003 LF (Rev C2B0). I am happy to got out and get better ones if I need to, once I have played around with a working system. Here is some info:
dmesg:

I tried to install Klear and Kaffine to see if they worked, but it didn't seem to, but I am a Linux novice.
