I have also problems with lmce keeping the cm11a controller on the right port.

When i wait ten minutes after setting the com port + reload router then i don't get any messages but the com port is unselected so i have to select it again (device disabled).

Well i am new but i should have read the basics :)

The thing is that g711 = alaw/ulaw but i filled g711 as the allowed codec.

thanx for the responses.

Hello people,

I have been trying to make use of the builtin asterisk server.

I can make phone calls to my telephone and can also dialout.

The problem is that the asterisk version does not support the g711 codec which is the preferred choice of my voip provider.
I get also messages that there are no conversion codecs from g711 to sln.

Maybe i am wrong because this is my first experience with asterisk.
The provider is

Keep up the good work!!

Hello Augalex,

Have you tried the sync file and folders in the web admin?

I had the same problem but then i let the core resync my video's and i selected the type of file.

Users / Re: 0710 beta 2 available
« on: December 29, 2007, 09:36:38 pm »

My first experience with linuxmce 0710 beta 2.

Hardware: core
core2duo 6300
1GB mem
nvidia 6200 GT
asus p5b deluxe
haupauge mce150
ordered: almost dvb-t twinhan with ci for digitenne (netherlands)

Hardware: MD
asus terminator 2p
512 MB mem
nvidia 7600GS AGP
wiimote :)

TV: Samsung le37m87bd

Installation core went fine.

Setting up a diskless media directory did not work as expected and there were legions of trouble getting my tv (samsung 1080p) recognized and set up.

But after editing the xorg.conf manually with the settings i saved from the last time it went ok. (3-4 hours)

Now the md is running, i wanted to get accelerated video playback for mpeg2.

So i downloaded a mpeg2 file and tried playing without xvmc that worked as expected.
Now i tried it with xxmc but that only froze my xine player.

So back to the command line and take a look at what happens.
xine -V xxmc -A alsa file.mpg2

it just froze no output nothing.

Wel after two days (bios, agp, irq, noapic, noacpi, noht) it seemed that the nvidia drivers were my trouble.
So i downgraded to 100.14.19 and then it worked the way i wanted.

So far so good i guess.

Not something for an average user.

Thanx for this release

Well try to play a full hd movie with your linux box without encryption and you will see that it won't playback that easily.

Sound lag video tearing. Mplayer saying your system is to slow.

Well the hardware recommendations are insane.

If you do not have video acceleration then you need a heavy machine.

Video acceleration is only available for mpeg2 so with mpeg 4 the cpu needs to get it going. Also when you have a hd-dvd vc-1 or x264 then your cpu has to do al the decoding before sending it to the graphics card.

Intel is busy with a new interface called vaapi but nvidia does not anticipate in that for the moment.

Nvidia does support good accelerated playback on windows interfacing with directx. So you wil have to wait until nvidia opens the api to linux.

I dont think you wanna have a dualcore machine sitting at your living room making awfull sounds. Try buying a bluray or hddvd player which you can control using lmce.

Users / mythtv keeps crashing? ivtv haupauge mce 150
« on: November 26, 2007, 08:34:54 pm »
Hello people,

I have been trying to setup mythtv with no success.

I know what the problem is but i can't fix that (not a developer) :)

The thing is that mythtv is configured using the core as the backend.
(i don't know why there is running a backend on the frontend?)

The files from the core are being stored on /home/public/data/video/tv_shows_1/movie

The frontend tries to open  the file localy instead of using a stream from the core.

when i umount /home then i can watch live tv.

Does someone know what the problem can be?

With kind regards,

Hello all,

I have searched the forums for this but cannot find an answer.

I have a cm11A marmitek x10 interface with usb -to serial .
The thing is that when i select the right interface and click on update the interface is working.
But when i reboot the core then i have to select the interface again it does not remember my selection i guess.

Does someone know whats going on?

What can i check?

With kind regards

Non taken

i was just skeptic that my brother could play a wmv-hd (VC-1 without encryption) with windows media player and he couldn't with vlc, because vlc did not support the microsoft extension supported by nvidia to do accelerated playback.

I just want to take full advantage of full hd.

I will try it with my 2.4 Ghz machine with the same nvidia card under windows to see if the playback is different.

If it has all to do with patents then why can intel create a new api?

Patents are everywhere but a hardware vendor can support a few api's but nvidia is not taking any action at all.

I think without decent support for accelerated video playback it doesn't make sense to create a linux based media center at all, because a lot of movies (bluray / hddvd ) are already in hd format 1080p and i do think a media centre should support those formats. That was also the reason i bought a full HD screen television so i could play back movies at full resolution.

not using a dual core system with 2 gig of memory as media director eating more than 600 Watt

Well it plays music very well and also the home automation thing is working so I can use lmce for that i guess.

These things make me sad  :'(

Well now i am realy astonished :(

Ok playback will be in but you need a hell of a lot performance to do that.

there is no acceleration for playing back hd content on nvidia/ati cards at the moment because the drivers do not support anything more then accelerated mpeg2.

I did some research to find out that there isn't any accelerated playback for now.
you need a dualcore to play back hd content, thats not cool for a media solution under your tv with a fast core upstairs.

I took a look at my brothers PC to find out that he could play hd content with windows media player but could not with vlc because the screen was stuttering. vlc does not use the acceleration and wmp does.

Am i missing something?
Is linux not capable of playing hd content because we are missing some link to hardware accelerated playback?

I wanna buy a via epia board but i wanna make use off the ui2 interface with alpha blending but i need to know if i can use the drivers from viaarena. Are they capable for ui2 alpha blending?
