Will anyone be streaming the audio so those who might not have anything to add can listen in and maybe just prompt ideas via online chat.

Users / Re: Softsqueeze: anyone has it working?
« on: September 25, 2007, 10:18:54 pm »
are you running the softsqueeze on a pc in the internal or external network. You might need to enable some extra ports in the firewall for it to work if its on the external side. cant remember which ports it needs:) you'll need to check the slimdevice website for those.....

since its compatible with mythtv then it should be detected by linux ok, depends if its an lirc device or something else might need some work to get it set up to work with lmce

Developers / Re: KDE a little overkill?
« on: September 16, 2007, 12:56:07 pm »
i'm just starting to see if i can install LMCE on a xubuntu machine. As the main need for the switch to kubuntu seems to be xfce, thats all.
I've just set up a vmware image of ubuntu 704 server and will be installing each deb from the lmce cds to monitor the extra packages needed.
i'll keep notes and get round to doing a wiki post as i go.

Users / Re: Any kind of remote desktop/VNC support?
« on: September 16, 2007, 11:14:17 am »
if you ssh in and then
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install x11vncthis will install an x11 to vnc software which lets you send your screen to a vnc client. I've never tryed but you should be able to set this up to auto run on boot, so you could vnc to your box
Also i think KDE has a setting for desktop sharing, but only when it runs so might not work as lmce runs before the kde desktop loads.

google for x11vnc and see if its what your after.

Users / Re: Multiple Cores
« on: August 21, 2007, 02:59:48 pm »
There was talk with the pluto system to have multi-cores, ie one at home and one in your holiday home. Dont think that it every got to a working state,
You could setup another core, and add all the devices to it, then stop the dcrouter running on that machine and point it to the ip address of your otehr core, sisnce normally uses 127.0.0.1 to point to the dcrouter.
I might be worth trying using vmware as a test to see if its possible. I've got a quirte week this week, so will see if i can set up a proof of concept.

DVB-T card do work in mythtv really well i've got 4 Avermedia PCI card in an old machine i've used for ages to record stuff.
With DVB-T cards you will need to use the mythtv-setup and manualy set them up. HAve a look at the mythtv forums for help there.
Also the nice thing with DVB card in the UK, is that you have over the air 7 day EPG.

Maybe for the Next release we could re-name it to something more line "LMCE Internal" or something more suitable

nite_man: Have you got this working under lmce?
I'm planning on seting up my sky box. I've got a PVR-150 and have started to set it upo under the lmce admin panel and have added the sky box on there(ir control via a gc100 unit) Not really spent much time on it let. But if VDR works better then i might invest some time looking into that and try and help getting vdr working better in lmce.
