I've been using LVM and one partition for about 5 year on a continuously growing filesystem  (currently 2 TB). But I am going to split it up now, I agree with Oliver - there are problems.

I am thinking about using simple 2 disk NAS cases and have 1 TB in each case.

Not tried this but I suppose it should be possible to do this with a normal MythTV client since mythbackend is used by LMCE for TV...

Under the Modules section, remove any lines that say Load "dri" or Load "glcore", and make sure you have
  Load "glx"

I have dri and glcore and it works. Why should they be removed? Is performance affected by having them loaded?

I wouldn't mind beta testing the plcbus driver as soon as I've bought some hardware.

Are there any Swedes here that want to try making a group order from the Chinese manufacturer? I got it that a few 10 devices + could give some form of nice discount.

(Have vote) Haven't ordered anything just yet, but I think I will any day now... It would totally rock to get this implemented in LMCE!!

1) I think I should make sure to order some PLCBUS equipment as well
Did any of you find a good webshop with ok prices? ;o) I've only found automation@home so far, it's always nice to have more than one...
2) A LMCE summit in Berlin would be totally awesome!

Most of the devices are PLC based.. it's only a few devices that use the RF side.. and it's really not an issue in EU.. 1 phase power...
Austria and Germany use multiple phases.

Sweden uses three phases, most devices only use one though but there is always three phases in a household which means that wall outlets might not be connected to the same phase. One very big reason to which for a RF based transmissions.

I've changed back and forth I don't know how many times now and it won't fix itself.

I did however have success with entering KDE and manually running xcompmgr in a konsole window. Everything works just fine inside LMCE when I switch back.  :D

I will however have to do this everytime I've rebooted... Next step will be to find a boot script in which I can put in xcompmgr or, better, figure out what makes it not start as supposed...

Installation issues / Re: MythTV Hauppauge PVR 350
« on: December 24, 2007, 12:29:59 am »
I got TV working with my 350 card in myth using the mythfronted.

1. Start with mythtv-setup
2. Add the card, video source, mapping and do the channel search the normal myth way.
3. Run mythfilldatabase --manual
4. Start mythfrontend
5. Watch TV, voila it works...

I hope I can get it up running inside LMCE as well once I get it running...

What I did after this was to add a PVR capture card to the media director that has the 350 card. I do this in the Pluto admin (the web gui). I added the Haupaugge card PVR-150 which seem to, in this case, be interchangeable with PVR-350.

I need to find out how to change channels now, but I do at least get it display my set default MythTV channel...

I have this problem as well. I can find the video playing if I enter KDE but I just get a black screen with audio within LMCE.

I switched to UI2 and got back the video, then back to UI3 and the video was gone again...

Is there anyway to force start of the xcompmanager? Can it be manually started in a shell window in case it isn't automatically started on boot?

I am just now switching back to UI2, will try to switch back to UI3 once more after that and then see if xcompmgr can be started in some other way if it doesn't work...

Installation issues / Re: file systems

I am running VirtualBox and VMPlayer, have played aroung with VM Workstation as well. I understand that ESX comes with more performance but I am quite certain that the ones I suggested will be sufficient just for file copying.

I also believe that it should be quickly done over a network share, probably completed before a virtual machine could be installed... ;-)

I've solved my issues now as well...

1. Install NVidia drivers according to the Envy guide found in this forum
2. Update the modules section in xorg.conf to include (I did this after running the AVwizard but I think it safely can be done at once)
Code: [Select]
Section "Module"
        Load    "i2c"
        Load    "bitmap"
        Load    "ddc"
        Load    "dri"
        Load    "extmod"
        Load    "freetype"
        Load    "glx"
        Load    "int10"
        Load    "type1"
        Load    "vbe"
        Load "record"
        Load "xtrap"
        Load "speedo"
        Load "GLcore"
        Load "v4l"
EndSection

3. Copy /etc/X11/xorg.conf to pluto.xorg.conf (sorry that name is incorrect, it show up after a few faulty reboots but it seems to be deleted now when avwizard has completed) I'll update the guide if someone knows the correct name
4. Add the command exit on the second line in /usr/pluto/bin/Xconfigure.sh
Code: [Select]
#!/bin/bash
exit

function XorgConfLogging() {
        local message="$1"
...

virtual machine end up slowing the computer down a good bit though..  i think ill just use windows to copy everything...  thanks for everyones help

I have to disagree heavily on that. I use VM's everyday at work, using some quite heavy applications without notifyable performance degree. You need some RAM of course but I doubt that you need any major amounts of RAM just for copying files. Boot up i.e. damn small linux inside XP, I guess you can run that without performance problems in a VM with just 128MB of RAM assigned to it...

Another, more far fetched, suggestion could be:

Starting up a virtualmachine in either Virtualbox or vmware? Then you could have two OS's running at the same time each supporting appropriate filesystems...

I know that at least Virtualbox can share folders with the host os...
