Hi,

I successfully shot a Parallella Board on Kickstarter last year. Now I am awaiting this "Supercomputer on a creditcard" to be delivered.
Within this year they want to get the Board with 90 GFLOPs ready to ship for about $299.
This would be enough power for a whole LinuxMCE - Center on a creditcard-size - device.
Could this bright future be reason to keep on porting LinMCE to ARM ?

As I said before, it will need to be ported, as this is an ARM based machine. Nobody has taken on the task to port the media director parts to ARM.

Would you be willing to do so?

Unfortunately software-development is not part of my skill. Anyone else interested in this great piece of hardware who could do this job ?

the MK802 with 1GB RAM can be installed with Ubuntu or any other Linux-based OS.

Hi,

this device called MK802 Android4 MiniPC is able to play FullHD - Videos via HDMI.
I am thinking to use it as a Mediadirector in my sleeping-room.
Any ideas if this could be a recommended solution?

Hi Andrew,

the KNC1 DVB-S2 ist currently listed with "experimental support". ( http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-S2_PCI_Cards )
With VDR the TechnoTrend TT-budget S2-3200 is the most used card (with FFmpeg-Patch HD-Signals work - like posted in the vdr-forum)

For this reason it makes more sense to support the TechnoTrend TT-budget S2-3200

In my current VDR-Machine is a TechnoTrend S-2300 - al Full-Featured-Card with natice support from VDR.

Hello Dan,

you are totally right! I honestly believe that you are doing a great job, and I thank you for that.
But I think that you are not the only one with interest in developing better solutions for lmce.
When I look at the "local dealers and custom installers" - list for LinuxMCE on the FIIRE-Website (for example), I allready see companies in many european countries. The solution I suggested (FS20) is allready available in many european countries.
Now I am looking for a sponsor to get some cash for that work.

Hello,

while looking for a Z-Wave - solution I found out, that Merten offers a product-line called "Connect" for 220V/50Hz
(http://www.voltus.de/schalterprogramme/merten/funksystem-connect/)
Since this is quite expensive, I started looking for a cheaper system. I found the FS20 - Protokoll, that is allready supported by linux (http://fhz4linux.info/tiki-index.php)
There is tons of Hardware available for the FS20 - Protokoll (way more than for the PLCBUS). I would like to have a device-template for FS20 in the next linuxmce-release.

I am currently working on a low-noise HTPC with HD-Support - a project on the german site www.tomshardware.de - to use as a MD with LinuxMCE.

I just installed my Nokia N95 using the Fring-Software. There you can also configure alternate SIP-Connections.

Hi,

I would recommend to set up two virtual Machines using Xen.
Then you can switch between your Mac and the Linux-Ubuntu serving LinuxMCE.
I have no experience with MacOS. But here Xen works great with WinXP and Ubuntu on my Vaio Notebook.

Isn´t windows mobile compatible with WindowsMCE ?
Then you should better use WinMCE...

Or wait until LinuxMCE gets ready for Symbian S60v3.

Hi,
I really do not believe that there is a boot-image for the DBox-2 included in LMCE.
Currently I am running my DBox with a Yadi-Imgage (www.yadi.org). I have a harddisk built in, so the image needs to support IDE-Drives. Since I can remote-control the DBox via Ethernet, it would be a great solution if I could use the DBox to record MPEG-2 and stream TV to the Media-Director.

you can only setup DBox 2 as a media director. to do this, you have to have option for network boot and a network card.

Hi,
the DBox has a built-in Network-Adapter. And running with Neutrino there is a built-in Bootoption via Network. The first thing the DBox does is sending a RARP-Request to get an IP-Adress. Next the DBOX sends an BootP-Request to connect to a Boot-Server.
If there is a Boot-File, the DBox can load it via tftp.
Is there a Boot-File for the DBox-Media-Director available ?
