Developers / How to contribute templates and GSD code for few devices
« on: June 20, 2007, 09:30:30 pm »
Hi,

I have contributed and created few templates for Plutohome (Marantz SR5600 Receiver, Cybrotech Home Automation system, etc....).

Since they are in kind of "prerelease state", changes cannot get into their database. But since I use LMCE also in my new house, I'd kindly ask for some guidance how to send contributions to LMCE database, so I can use devices I created also on other fresh installs ?

Thanks in advance,

regards,
Bulek.

Installation issues / Can Pluto and LMCE Orbiters coexist on WinXP ?
« on: June 19, 2007, 09:13:17 pm »
Hi,

I have one Pluto and one LMCE system, but I can't run Orbiters for both systems on my laptop with win xp.

if I try to install LMCE Orbiter it complains that it is already installed, if I run Pluto's Orbiter with LMCE ID and IP, it just freezes for infinite time.

Anyone with more success ?

Regards,

Rob.

Users / Re: SONOS digital music system

Hi,

haven't played with it, but could be usefull to someone. There is web controller for Sonos - open sourced written in
Perl. I guess Sonos Control portion could be easily extracted....

http://www.purple.org/sonos/

I also like Sonos, but my main idea was to use their portable remote for also other home automation stuff not just music, but at that point they didn't show any interest for adding 3rd party controls to their remotes, so I stopped considering it...

Hi,

if I remember right, then someone mentioned that Xine player wrapper is being worked on to replace VLC for multiroom audio... Maybe this is the result.....

3.After you've started the media playback
Press F7 to see the Main Menu.
4.Press Media button and go to Floorplan
Here you'll see al your MDs. From here you can:
 - see what media is playing on every MD by clicking on that MD
 - transfer media playback from one Md to an Other MD
 - play the same media that's playing on one MD to other MDs

All these are really functional ?

AFAIK it was just a wish in Pluto to have such features. VLC implementation actually didn't work at all on one-to-many streaming. Last thing I remember is that some effort has been done to make Xine player with those features, but I'm not sure of any progress....

Hi,

I'll have hybrid LMCE in my new house and would like to solve basic media needs with one hybrid system. I'd like to run one Orbiter with UI2 and show it on TV and would also like to run another X session with Orbiter and UI1 that would be shown on house's main touchscreen, from where user would only control devices - no multimedia necessary...

Any hint how this could be done ?

Hi,

another way (I'm thinking of) is to have doorphone that is FXS compatible (like normal analog phone) and then have ATA or Sipura VOIP adapter, so doorphone makes proper call to Asterisk PBX in LMCE. Quite some time ago I proposed such setup on Pluto forums but it went by....

You normally get "Incoming call screen" on all Pluto Orbiters on call from doorphone, the only addition that should be made is to make incoming call screen that would also show snapshots from related camera and there you go... Talk over plain phone and see it over camera...

Hi,

I'm speech recognition researcher and gave a lot of brainstorms on that field and heard a lot of feedbakc info from users. I'll try to add few my opinions :

1. I think that users generaly don't like to have house filled with mics. Also there is a problem, when system shouldn't react to same words.

2. The basic approach IMHO should be that user can decide when to talk and when not to talk to house. Curently house phones and whaever smart device that can be used for that is appropriate. Maybe speech recognition is currently more suitable for remote access (call and tell the house what you need).

3. In current architecture, I see one obvious and convenient way to use speech recognition. Currently we have Asterisk as VOIP PBX, and we can talk to Asterisk in all different kinds (Mobile, ISDN, Orbiter phone ,etc...). There is also majority of other features implemented with the help of Asterisk and its features (talk to the house (it basically mean that conference call is made with caller and all Orbiter phones)).

4. So from 3, connecting speech recognition engine to Asterisk would IMHO be the most efficient way to start digging in this area. Asterisk 1.4 already supports one of commercial SR Engines (Lumenvox), maybe we can connect something from mentioned projects too. But we need Asterisk upgrade and more transparet setup (currently Pluto-Asterisk setup looks more like spaghetti than well organized code).
