Users / ELO touchscreen calibration (Dianemo,LMCE)
« on: January 26, 2015, 02:52:21 am »
Hello,

page on wiki says that calibration for this screen can only be made manually by guessing...

Anyone aware of any other option to properly calibrate ELO touchscreen in current Dianemo or LMCE system ?

Thanks in advance,
regards,
Bulek.

Hello,

we haven't used Firefox as embedded web browser extensively... But now my wife discovered few sites about cooking& recipes and now my task is to bring it to Dianemo (probably similar also applies for LMCE).

I wonder if I can make embedded Firefox more touch screen friendly ?  The biggest problems are small buttons, sliders at the side, etc...
Is there any possibility (config options) to increase those little widgets to be more usable on touch screen ?
Any other workaround to bring web sites to main touch screen ?

Thanks in advance,
regards,
bulek.

Hi Bulek,

We're sorry but there are some breakages in the old UI1 skins due to changes we have been making over the last several months to the underlying system as we moved the audio side of the system to be fully integrated with LMS. However we are working on our Athena Orbiter which is written in HTML5 and it may well be that you can re-create your UI1 skin functionality in a customised Athena skin and at the same time get all the new advanced audio features too.

All the best

Andy

Hi,

it seems that someone thought on access to those scenarios. In newest skin (St.George or something), lighting button brings you to those scenarios - but only those from Lighting group. Then Climate button brings you to Floorplan instead of Climate scenarios. I assume that cause there is separate Floorplans button probably for the purpose of seeing all possible floorplans... Only button for Media Scenarios is not there...

Anyway, we will probably stay with UI1 - my family just got too familiar with that screen. It's a pity we cannot use Audio...

Bulek.

Hi,

thanks for a tip.

I will try, but I suspect that audio part from Dianemo is not compatible with those skins (quite similar as I have problems with UI1 now).

Will report on progress...

I'm attaching skins that I can choose in Dianemo. Can you please take a look and point the most probable one...

Thanks,

Hello,

quite some time Audio media playing feature has not been working for us. When we tried to start Audio, got errors about non-existing Entertainment Area. Radu gave me advice to try new skin and it seems that Audio is not working anymore under UI1 skin. I know this skin is old, but we've been using it all the time on our main touchscreen.

Now to retain Audio features, we have to move to newer skins, but we got quite dissapointed, cause newer skins don't support some vital screens - at least for us. Our house is fully automated one and we have practically everything automated (also fully integrated Ventilation system, Heat Pump and whole house audio system with two channels and 5 audio zones).

To be able to control such a beast, we had created a lot of scenarios, that are showed in separate buttons on UI1 main screen (see attachment). We have at least 12 such scenarios for each main category (listed in left column). Also we liked quad view camera screens - we have two such screens, one for internal and one for external cams.
But we're a bit said, cause newer skins seem to be not supporting mentioned features anymore. Only Lighting button brings you to Lighting scenarios, but in our system this is only smaller part of all scenarios.

I think that those screens are really important for a system that appears to be full automation solution for residential use. My family members got used to those buttons (scenarios), even our grandma stayed with us for a few days and she used some additional scenarios created especially for her quite extensively.

Currently, we will probably keep UI1 and sacrifice Audio, but we would like to start discussion about this matter. We feel that perhaps we're not the only missing those features. We would also like to hear opinion from Dianemo - is it changing its focus to more media oriented system ?

Thanks in advance for discussion,

regards,

Bulek.

Users / Re: Why Do Media Directors Exist?
« on: August 23, 2014, 04:17:00 am »
Hi,

maybe I'm typical case matching Andrew's thoughts.

I gave up maintaining MD in living room and decided to go with RPi only as media player. Let me stress, that I don't use IP TV anymore, cause maintenance was continous headache - my ISP keeps changing setup. Now ISP provides web app to follow another IPTV stream and that is much easier. But before that, my vnc server setup was really performing well (central VNC server received iptv streams from dedicated network line and then served to any vnc client in LAN).

But now I'd just like to get simple media player working in my living room and make my TV only a bit smarter. Maybe new HTML5 Orbiter will work on RPi ? Then I could also control Dianemo system from this smart tv enhancement... It would be nice if I could make simpler version of HTML5 Orbiter with few basic commands that I need most of the time... If that fails, maybe XBMC plugin to issue those commands is a way to go...

Users / Re: Raspberry Pi as UPnP player under Dianemo
« on: August 23, 2014, 04:05:51 am »
Hi,

I'm back to this problem. I intend to replace my MD with RPi and rasbmc image.

I've followed instructions on Wiki page closely, but I must be doing something wrong. I've added upnp plugin and upnp device...

Situation is like this:
- if I start media from within XBMC then I can pause it from Orbiter (if in correct room)
- but if I start media from Orbiter it won't start on RPi (nothing happens)

What I didn't clearly seen is that option of choosing upnp or samba mode when first going into Video or Audio browser. Also I don't know how to do this "... you would use either UPnP mode (set this in Web Admin)...".

There is something still missing here - please can you help me ? Media config is written above - is it right to setup upnp player device for both Audio and Video commands ?

Also another question: from inside XBMC - will it find media from Dianemo as upnp server or should I access media via samba server ?

Thanks in advance,
regards,
Bulek.

Hi,

really long time ago when I was dealing with Asterisk servers in more details I remember there was a way to connect two servers internally via IAX trunks...

I did a quick search and found this :
http://www.freepbx.org/support/documentation/administration-guide/connecting-2-or-more-boxes
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Connect+2+servers

but I guess you can quickly do a more detailed research...

Hello,

I'm not sure, but quite some time ago I did few devices as GSD devices (you write few pieces of code in Ruby)...

You have Initialize, Release, and then IDLE method that gets called every few seconds... You can specify which commands you'll receive with your device, you can register to receive events, ....

Few links :
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/GSD

This is what I did (probably outdated info):
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Marantz_SR5600#Pipes_can_be_connected_only_to_one_device

There is also some work done with external Perl script that connects to LMCE and performs as device...
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Misterhouse (probably outdated too)...

« on: March 20, 2014, 08:28:17 pm »
Hi,

I'm using Marantz with two zones, but I'm on Dianemo. I'm not sure, but I remember using two zones on Marantz also under LMCE... If I remember right, I've extended existing Audio Zone device a bit, and then added 2 of them along with FM receiver to Marantz receiver - of course I had to write program in Ruby also....

Maybe there is implementation in LMCE somewhere - I remember that two templates existed for Marantz - one with one zone and mine with two....

I've wrote description of setup here, but probably it's outdated....
