Users / Re: Remote Asterisk Install
« on: May 28, 2014, 09:16:57 am »
Hi,

really long time ago when I was dealing with Asterisk servers in more details I remember there was a way to connect two servers internally via IAX trunks...

I did a quick search and found this :
http://www.freepbx.org/support/documentation/administration-guide/connecting-2-or-more-boxes
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Connect+2+servers

but I guess you can quickly do a more detailed research...

HTH,

Hello,

I'm not sure, but quite some time ago I did few devices as GSD devices (you write few pieces of code in Ruby)...

You have Initialize, Release, and then IDLE method that gets called every few seconds... You can specify which commands you'll receive with your device, you can register to receive events, ....

Few links :
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/GSD

This is what I did (probably outdated info):
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Marantz_SR5600#Pipes_can_be_connected_only_to_one_device

There is also some work done with external Perl script that connects to LMCE and performs as device...
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Misterhouse (probably outdated too)...

Users / Re: Zone2 implementation of receiver
« on: March 20, 2014, 08:28:17 pm »
Hi,

I'm using Marantz with two zones, but I'm on Dianemo. I'm not sure, but I remember using two zones on Marantz also under LMCE... If I remember right, I've extended existing Audio Zone device a bit, and then added 2 of them along with FM receiver to Marantz receiver - of course I had to write program in Ruby also....

Maybe there is implementation in LMCE somewhere - I remember that two templates existed for Marantz - one with one zone and mine with two....

I've wrote description of setup here, but probably it's outdated....

Hello,

I'm trying to setup RPi with raspbmc as UPnP player that can be controlled  from Dianemo.

Have three short questions :

1. What do I put into /etc/pluto/media_config.conf for RPi ? Is this right ?
Code: [Select]
#XBMC RPi
Room=12:        AudioDev=412; VideoDev=412; KeepScreenOnForOSD=no

2. How to troubleshoot setup it it isn't working ?

3. If I want to start media from XBMC GUI - what is the proper way to get media from Dianemo ? UPnP server LS doesn't provide video files, also music files are not working for me, should Samba be used for this ?

Thanks in advance,
regards,
Bulek.

Users / Re: Question about UI
« on: September 27, 2013, 11:54:42 am »
People in Ireland try to avoid using such terms!

But on topic i do think its a strange area for non open-source development people to get their heads around.  its a grey area around open-source and proprietary.

I'm sure some people would say UI2 is cooler!

Hi,

regarding UI2. Dianemo reported, that they prefer using UI1, cause it's the same on all devices...

Hi,

I've been recently reminded to option with Raspberry Pi.  This seems the route my system will go...

Hi,

I understood right... Thanks for response... In our case, MD was used more or less only as media player, so RPi will fit perfectly in.

I just wonder:
-  if anyone explored possibilities to do few things automatically (change TV input) when media is pushed to it (I know MD can do that and we got spoiled...)
- does it matter how much RAM in RPi (I have quite few of them lying around with 256M RAM and only one with 512M) ?
- raspbmc vs. OpenElec as default OS for RPi ?
- do your clients miss UI2 screensaver ? We do, so I wonder if anyone explored possibilities of something similar on RPi ?

Your experience will help me a lot...

Thanks in advance,

regards,

Bulek.

Hi,

thanks for info. At last, my MD will be replaced with RPi...

- I'd just like to ask if also RPi with 256M of RAM is perfoming ok or do you recomend only 512M of RAM?

- I've read on several places that OpenElec is generally faster than raspbmc. Do you find any problems regarding raspbmc for media play and responsivness of menus ?

- we absolutely love UI2 screensaver on MDs - can something similar be done with RPi ?

- do you have any other plans with RPi - maybe as "light NC" for simpler installations ?

- sometime ago in history (Pluto) I remember that we talked about connecting several systems together (for instance having LMCE installations on several different locations but connect them into "logical entity". Any plans in this direction?
For example, I'd like to have vacation apartment also covered with Dianemo (but much lighter system) and see those devices in my central system at home....

Thanks for great efforts and work,

regards,

Bulek.

Hi,

both disks are sata. First is system disk, the second is for media (2T)... First one is about half full, second aroung 75%. I doubt I have the biggest media collection. When disk is fast enough (when that huge query is not slowing it down), then Orbiter doesn't crash. It probably gets all data within timeout... But I have a feeling, that all media is retrieved at that moment, although only subset will be shown on screen...

I've disabled UpdateMediaDaemon from command line (Radu just gave me a hint that check in web-admin is broken) and will see if that query will come back again....

Thanks in advance,

regards,

Bulek.

Hi,

thanks for info. Does this mean that Raspberry PI with xbmc can be used as a sort of light Media browser/player for Dianemo and that media can be pushed to it ?

How do you find Raspberry PI as media player? Can it cope with videos ?

Thanks in advance,
regards,
Bulek.

Users / Huge query in pluto_media : taking my disk down to crawling
« on: September 20, 2013, 09:51:05 am »
Hi,

I've posted a thread about freqent crashes when clicking on Video button on main Orbiter screen... Crash came out of data not being available in reasonable time - and cause is that my disk is so slooow...

But I guess this is not the HW problem, but more SW. if I do this :
Code: [Select]
hdparm -tT /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads:   3548 MB in  2.00 seconds = 1771.32 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  10 MB in  3.17 seconds =   3.15 MB/sec

When this happens, I get frequent crashes in media browsers on Orbiter, have unresponsive Orbiter (needs 30+ secs to get from screensaver to Orbiter screen), etc....

When second parameter is >60MB/sec, everything is working much faster and ok...

Now what is slowing my disk down ?
when I do
Code: [Select]
iotop -oP I see that mysqld is producing massive amount of disk writes and reads (I always thought this is pretty normal, till Radu didn't check his machines and we compared...) - approx. 5-10 M/s...

when I check what mysql is doing with :
Code: [Select]
mysql
show full processlist;

I see that there is a massive sql query going on, probably taking all that massive amount of disk accesses...

My first question (dillema) is whether I'm chasing a ghost here and this is pretty normal or is there something to be checked further...

I'm on Dianemo S, but I guess this part of the system is pretty similar to LMCE also...

Any advice would help me a lot. My system is useless when this happens and it happens quite often (or all the time)...

Thanks in advance,

regards,

Bulek.

Edit: I think that Radu found the origin of this query (or similar one when we talked about it) here :
