Could somebody please help me with my z-wave devices?
I have a HomePro ZCS-201 interface connected to the Core and installed it correctly (when I send a command to it I get an OK response). To start playing with the z-wave I bought 2 HomePro ZRP-200 modules and a remote control. I added the devices to 2 different groups on my remote and I can switch on/off both devices. So far so good. But now I want to use these devices with LinuxMCE and I can't make them work. I looked for hours on the forum and wiki but can't find a simple guide (explanation) for this.
Could somebody tell me how or give me a link to a good guide?

you should at least try sharing out a folder on another system (eg a Windows box), letting LinuxMCE add that as another media source, then dropping one of the media files you have had problems with onto that share. Now you can play the same media, with the same MD using the same GB switch, but completely eliminating the NAS (NIC, file system, drives, samba implementation, etc). This is a quick way of eliminating the problem, as if you have the same problem again, you can say with authority it isn't the NAS. Then you can turn your attention to the MD and networking (MD NIC and switch)....

what filesystem do you use on your FreeNas drives?

All disks use the UFS file system

During my time with LinuxMCE (over a year now) I have seen issues such as this pop up and most of the time they seem to be caused by:
1. the filesystem of the media drive
2. bad hard drive
3. bad network hardware cables, connections, routers etc

I don't recall one single instance where LinuxMCE software was actually the cause of the problem.

I don't argue the fact most of the problems are related to the facts above. But for my job I daily work on networks and I'm pretty sure all my hardware is fine. I have 9 hard drives on my NAS server (Freenas) and no matter from which drive a play a media file it has the same result. The whole network is gigabit and copying files or playing them on a windows machine or previous versions of LinuxMCE gives no problems. I looked at all the factors I know well and can't find any problems there.

I have the same problems. I don't use my Core for media playback, this is done on my MD's. All my movies are located on a nas server. When the movie hangs for a few seconds I noticed that the network output on my Nas also stops for the same amount of time. First I thought this was a problem from the NAS server but when I play movies on a windows machine the problem never occurs. My Core and MD's are more then capable of playing hd movies. I'm no expert but I really think this a problem of LinuxMCE.

If I leave it on NTSC-M then my TV (Sony Trinitron) copes with it anyway. I've played the start of a few films and they look fine.

Choosing NTSC-M did the trick for me. Video is displaying fine and screen size is perfect.

i just bought the DLink DNS-323, installed it and everything works fine. But can i connect my laptop (externeal network 10.10.0.*) to the Nas (internal lmce-network 192.168.80.*)?? I wan't to have lmce use the volume_1 and the other pc's in the external network the volume_2 for backups.

For my work I have to install a lot of networks with different IP-ranges and they still have to communicate with each other. To solve this problem we use Netopia routers. In the router you can define additional subnets which allows different IP-ranges to communicate with each other. This means that if you have for example a network 192.168.80.* and one 192.168.1.* you can define in the router how these two networks communicate with each other. It's even possible to let the PC in the 192.168.80.* range talk directly with the pc in the 192.168.1.* range. Multiple subnets are possible. I suppose there are other manufacturers who have this option in their routers, but I only know of Netopia.

I have a core (810) and one MD up and running but when I try to download the mobile orbitter for my laptop or mobile phone the install files all return 0 bytes. I checked on the core and the are listed in the /usr/pluto/installers but there they are also 0 bytes. I had a lot of work to get the core and md running so I don't want to install the core again. I looked on the DVD but can't find the files there. How can I get the correct installers again?

I've had some troulbe too with getting nvidia drivers to cooperate. When you boot your md and finally the x-setup failed, try ctrl+alt+f1 or f2..it should give you the login
login there with linuxmce then do sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. when you're done with that, reboot and if thex-setup fails yet again, go again to the console like before and do a sudo nvidia-xconfig.

okay...lets take this one at a time....
can I assume you have the core running so far, or do you have issues with the avwizard there too?
Then, what kind of MD are you running? I didn't see your hardware so far. Perhaps if you can elaborate on that one, maybe we can figure out, what drivers you need...or what causes your issues.

AV wizard worked just fine
I use the onboard graphics with UI1 and it runs very smoothly.

About your MD, I suggest also for start ui1 and static images. Use this to setup your MD. Once your orbiter is setup completely, you can go to KDE-desktop and check with your restricted drivers. I also had some trouble at first with my ASROCK Ion 330- I couldn't even activate the restricted drivers.
I put the avenard release repository, did apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade and reboot. After that, I went to the KDE-Desktop again, opened a terminal and did nvidia-xconfig, which wrote me a new xorg.conf. With the next reboot I forced the AVWizard and set it up to fullHD and UI2 with alpha-blending.
Try it out and let me know if it helped.

How can I choose UI1 and static images if all I get is the 'Failed to setup X' screen? I never see anything of the AVwizard.

After reading all you peoples tips I finally managed to get passed the 'Diskless Setup Failed' message. The MD set up for a long time and now wants to try to load the AV Wizard but it fails and gives a Blue screen with the message 'AVWizard Failed to setup X' I searched the forum for this problem and found a lot of threads about this problem. I've tried a number of possible solutions like manually installing the latest Nvidia driver on the MD but I get stuck with the same message again. Maybe I should mention that my Core has no Nvidia graphics card (it's an Intel MB with onboard graphics) because I'm not using my Core for video playback. I tried this thread http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8460.msg56517#msg56517 and it worked fine but when I tried the 'dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xorg-server' it says: /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: xorg-server is not installed. Again I searched the forum for this but can't seem to find a solution.
I've got so far so i really would like to get to the AV Wizard. Any suggestions?
