I also tried this function and because I have a lot of files I let it work through the night. In the morning the sarching was still going on. I did the coverart of the files manually and finnished it in less then 3 hours. So I guess it doesn't work very well

Ok,

maybe I gave to little information.
The lag is there always. first I thought it was because I played it from my NAS-drive (WDC Mybook World 500GB: don't buy this because it's a TERRIBLE product) but when I copied a file local the same happens. There is also no difference between the different formats, DVD, avi or a HD-file it's all laggy in the same way. Below you'll find a picture of my mediadirector settings. I played with the settings but there is no difference in the lag. I stays the same, not worse not better. I also tried to play the files with kaffeine in the KDE desktop, same result. A last maybe I should try to explain what I mean with lag. The sound and picture stay perfect synchronized but every 10 to 20 sec the video halts for a fraction of a second ands continues normally.

Seems like a lot of people have these problems.
Here's another thread about it.

I have the same issue. It is annoying, but I also suspect it contributes to the over all system lag that I am experiencing. In my case it is a windows share that continously "re-presents". This in combination with the problems I am having with my previous post "Media HDD" leads me to believe there are still issues to be worked out in the media detection scripts.

I also posted a question about video lag on my system. Reading the above I guess that could be origin for the lag. If only I knew what do do about it.

Hi,

When I play a dvd or a avi file the move halts for a very small time and then continues. It happens 2 to 3 times a minute and it's really unpleasant watching a movie like this. Below you'll find my pc specs but I think they should be enough.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 4300 @ 1,8GHz
1Gb RAM
Two Gigabit Nic's connected to Gigabit switches
Geforce 7600 GT 256MB

Anyone has the sme probs or know what to do please help

Thx

With the great helpof this forum I got my Samba shares running perfectly. The only thing that keeps bothering me is that I keep getting this popup windows in the left top of the corner saying: "Device already enabled name of my share" These popups are a bit annoying and I would like to disable them. Is this possible?

Thx

113  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / NAS drive probs on: August 31, 2007, 12:24:04 pm
Hi Everyone,

After a lot of retries I. finally got LinuxMCE working with the new install cd's. So as you may guess I'm a newbie to Linuc(MCE). .I bought myself a WDC Mybook and connected it to the network. It was detectef bij LinuxMCE and asked me for a username and a pw. And there it went wrong, I entered the wrong pw. So now there is no media in my orbitter but there are 3 drives under the 'Manage Drives' button. when I click one of them I. get a new screen but I can do nothing there. I.s there an easy way of reconfiguring the drive? Can I delete it under LinuxMCE and redetect it? I also have 2 network cards, to which one should I connect the NAS drive? The LinuxMCE DHCP (192.168.80.*) or to the other one.

Thx a lot

I followed the steps zagnoni wrote earlier and as by wonder the installation of LinuxMCE completed without any problems, I thought. After setup was complete I needed to reboot to finalize the installation and that's when it went wrong. My GUI won't load because the XServer can't be loaded. I think this might have to do with the downgrade of the ackages. I didn't know which packages needed to be downgraded so I Installed all the packages on the 6.10 cd I could find. I'm a newbie and can't find a way to solve the problem. Anyone an idea?

Thx
