46  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Safely removing mythtv on: February 15, 2013, 02:55:07 pm
I loaded up KDE desktop on my new install, and remembered this conversation http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,12233.0.html

Plus we don't ever watch any live TV, so would like to remove myth and anything myth-related to free up some space.

Cheers,
Matt.

In addition you can delete the MythTV Player device for the specific MD in question then if someone tries to access Live TV from an Orbiter they will just get a 'Cannot play that media type' alert on screen.

All the best

47  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Dianemo S (12.04) GC100 serial port won't save on: February 15, 2013, 02:48:54 pm
I have an Infocus Projector connected to the serial port of my GC100. In web admin I can select the serial port that the GC100 is connected to but after a reboot/reload router I have to set it again. This causes the projector not to register unless i fix it before the 50 attempts to register.

It used to work on 11.10.

Hmmm... we can't reproduce that here.

48  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Important Update available - Improved iTunes & LMS Integration on: February 13, 2013, 06:41:31 pm
We have released an important update to the Audio side of the system today that replaces UpdateMedia with Logitech media Server (LMS) audio content discovery and vastly improves the integration of iTunes into Dianemo. Together with many visual improvements to the Dianemo skin this is a major update.

After this update your system will use LMS to scan for new audio content, retrieve track meta data and cover art and not UpdateMedia as it has in the past. Dianemo now plugs straight into the LMS cli interface  which provides a much more reliable way of communicating with LMS than before. If you also use iTunes we now have very tight integration with your iTunes library via LMS's iTunes plugin too. You can now purchase music from the iTunes store, rip CD's in iTunes or using the in-built ripping capability in Dianemo, purchase downloadable music from Amazon or any other DRM free music store and it will be available with cover art & meta data almost immediately in your Dianemo Orbiters for playback in any room you have audio playback enabled in.

We also support music purchased using iTunes on your iOS device - just use iTunes on your Mac/PC to download the music you purchased through your iOS device and moments later your new music will be available in Dianemo too. This is also true of Playlists - create a playlist in iTunes on your Mac/PC or your iOS device and within a few minutes those playlists will be available in Dianemo too.

Please see these updated wiki page entries for details;

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Configuring_Logitech_Media_Server

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Using_iTunes_with_your_Dianemo_System

If you were already using iTunes successfully with your Dianemo system then this update will not require you to make any changes after you have updated your system

As usual please run the update script on your system to get this and any other updates that are pending.

All the best

We'll try and reproduce this and I'll post back here ASAP.

50  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Android Touch Orbiter now downloadable from Web Admin Orbiters Page on: January 18, 2013, 08:50:41 pm
Hi,

I'm trying it on Dianemo and seems that something is missing in Dianemo... I've entered credentials and then did Validate Credentials...

What should happen next if it works ?
I have all choices empty in Orbiter Specific section....

Thanks,

regards,

Bulek.

Earlier versions of this version of Touch Orbiter work fine on Dianemo. However I'm not familiar with what was updated in this version and that may be causing an issue. One of my co-workers is testing with some Android tablets so i will ask him to test this.

51  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Update available - Dianemo Skin Updated on: January 11, 2013, 05:13:57 pm
We've made some visual changes to the Video Media browser screens in the Dianemo Skin. These changes will only be visible in UI1 configured Orbiters.

When you browse your Video Media now from the 'Video' button on the Home screen you will now be presented with a more spatious 4x4 grid with slightly smaller movie cover art icons with two lines for the Movie title below each icon. We have also added a default cover art icon that will automatically be displayed for any movie that did not get identified properly when it was ripped to your system.

Overall this new layout and grid design we feel is a big improvement to the experience of browsing your Movie library.

As usual please run the update script on your system to get this and any other updates that are pending.

All the best

52  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Update available - OrbiterGen improvements on: January 08, 2013, 12:01:31 pm
We've changed the OrbiterGen scripts today so that they can run one OrbiterGen per reported processor when you click "(quick) regen all" or "Regen All" in Web Admin. So, if you have two cores, two OrbiterGen processes will be started. If you have four cores, four OrbiterGen processes will be started.

There's no means right to say "run ALL of them at the same time, I need to heat the room up" right now from the website, but the scripts can take such a parameter. In the future, the scripts may be extended so that they start OrbiterGen on any Media Managers that have been declared powerful enough - but this would only make sense on MM with reasonably powerful CPU's ie better than Atom

Long story short, if you need to regen every orbiter in one shot, the "Regen all" buttons are optimal now (after you update your system of course).

As usual please run the updater script to get this update and any others that your system has not yet had applied.

Happy new year to all :-)

53  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Dianemo S: Volume of UPnp Devices on: December 21, 2012, 01:55:24 am
Dear Andrew,

today i added another squeezebox radio. But the volume Control/Mute is not working.

#103 Up/Down is working but not Mute
#210 Up/Down is not working Mute is not working

What can i do? Can you remote login?

BR
Marc

Currently 'mute' is only implemented if your Squeezeslave/SB Player is routed through a controlled amplifier eg Denon or similar. The Vol up/down issue in #21 is almost certainly because media_config has an incorrect value for AudioDev in the line that is for that room. Look for a typo or incorrect value in AudioDev.

All the best

54  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Update available - Internet Radio fixes on: December 21, 2012, 01:34:31 am
We've just released what I imagine will be our last update for 2012. This fixes a problem with some Internet Radio stations that don't play well with Squeezeslaves. The symptom is that the radio stations will sound like they are being played back at many times normal speed... amusing for a very short while!

The update fixes this problem we hope.

We have also released a new Dianemo Installer v1.19 which will automatically get downloaded and installed.

Anyway please run the updater script to get this update (and any others you may have missed if you have not run it for a while).

All the best for Christmas and the new year!

55  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Dianemo S: Latest update of UpdateMedia 2.1.2, 2.1.3 on: December 16, 2012, 08:19:20 pm
is causing mysql errors while installing the update

Code:
01      11/29/12 20:26:57.706           Query failed (MySQL client ran out of memory): SELECT PK_SearchToken FROM SearchToken WHERE Token='G' (1) <0x41aecf80>
05      11/29/12 20:26:57.707           Resetting db_wrapper connection <0x41aecf80>
01      11/29/12 20:26:57.707           Query failed (): SELECT PK_SearchToken FROM SearchToken WHERE Token='G' retry: (nil) <0x41aecf80>

That is done for all Tokens

Your system is running out of memory. When we looked at it last week we mentioned that your memory/swap was looking very tight.

Andrew,

can you please tell me the steps on how to properly add the sonos into the system, so that the volume conrol is working?

BR
Murcel

We're looking at what's causing this and will update the package/device once we understand what's causing it.

57  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Z-Wave Compatible Thermostats question on: December 16, 2012, 05:37:43 pm
Posde, for exactly that reason.  I am away from home for extended periods and want to keep the temp low in order to save energy.  It takes a long time to bring the temp back up to a comfortable level.  It would be nice to be able to remote in and raise the temp a couple hours before I get home.  Know what I mean?  Smiley

I am still hoping for some insights into thermostats.  Thanks

We use HRT4-ZW's for water based underfloor heating installations; http://www.horstmann.co.uk/central-heating.php#Room
The HRT4-ZW's comprise of a room stat linked to a motorised valve controller by ZWave. There must be a US compliant ZWave product that does something similar.

Hope the above is of help.

58  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Update available - Grub updated on: December 15, 2012, 01:32:01 pm
As Kernel updates to 12.04LTS have rolled out in recent months we've noticed that Grub will wait for a human to choose which Kernel to boot with. The problem is it will wait forever. That Grub screen will not time out in 12.04LTS. This has caused problems with customers who have headless or difficult to access NC's... or ones they are supporting remotely.

We have released and update this week (if you have updated in the laste 2-3 days you should have this update) that fixes this behaviour by waiting in the grub screen for a short time before continuing to boot with the latest kernel.

So please run the updater if you have not done so recently.

All the best

59  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Dianemo S: No MP3 Tags are added anymore on: December 15, 2012, 01:11:13 pm
Dear Andrew,

does it mean, that, i can tag my mp3s outside of dianemo, lms will pick it up some time and updatemedia overwrite (?) or syncronize(?) the tags with dianemo?

BR
Murcel

Hi Murcel,

Whatever LMS reads from your mp3's will be provided to UpdateMedia. None of UpdateMedia's capabilities have been modified or extended other than the interface to LMS. However over time you can expect to see UpdateMedia go away...but as with much of the underlying Pluto originated software it is entwined closely with the system, and so rather complex to unravel.

All the best

60  LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Give your Significant other Dianemo S Configuration as a gift this Christmas on: December 13, 2012, 08:09:57 pm
We've had quite a few inquiries about giving Dianemo setup/config as Christmas gifts... you know who you are lol!

So I'm just going to post a simple response here to anyone who has already contacted us or might be thinking of doing so;

If you have a half/working or half configured system then why not suggest some configuration help to your partner as a gift?

Yes you can purchase some configuration help from us for either an existing installation or one that will be purchased in the future. We can do the basic config of a system or add specific controlled devices - basic config of the whole system is £95 GBP (that covers all the basics after you or your significant other has done the initial install). If your after some help configuring specific devices or getting a particular room working with a range of devices then we're happy to do that too - generally a home theatre with an IP/RS232 controlled Denon say and 2x source devices plus a controlled TV can be configured in for £150 GBP (that's a fixed price within reason). These are examples so please PM me if you need something different.

All installation/configuration help purchased as gifts will be carried out asap and will be done on a first come first served basis. You must enable Dianemo's in-built Remote Assistance feature for configuration to take place.

If you have something non-standard, or that needs some discussion, please just PM me here on the forum and we can figure out what you need. If you are an existing license holder we will give you 15% off any configuration services prices too!! (we like you!).

Happy Christmas!

Andrew

PS If you're a new customer and you purchase a license before 22 Dec then you can also get the 15% off deal too :-)
