LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Future of (AV) device control
|
on: March 19, 2013, 03:15:06 pm

I think what Thom says is probably the truth but I fear what I will find price-wise in that regard. I may be wrong but if it's a case of tripling or quadrupling my budget for a receiver then it may be out of my pricing zone as techstyle hints. Sadly, I guess, the guys that play in the custom install market know that their customers do not have a budget problem.
Regarding CEC - I guess what I was saying ito poor support is that firstly graphics cards with HDMI outputs don't support it which is annoying. Unless it's way more complex than I realise, that would be a big step forward and we wouldn't have to worry about injectors. Then, secondly, I understand that the manufacturers typically have their own set of protocols and codes Bravia Sync etc etc with limited overlap. I gather if you have an HDMI port on your device you're obliged to wire it for CEC but not implement it unless you want to.
How about an Arduino injector? Would that be an option? Don't know much about Pi and Duinos except that Duinos are a bit cheaper and more accessible in my neck of the woods.
Anyway, it will be fun to see my local AV "Experts" sweat when I ask them all these questions ;-)
Interestingly the Raspberry Pi does support full CEC control when using MythTV installed on it. We're finding that essentially all TV manufactured in the last 24 months in our experience have full CEC control.implemented. We support the Pulse-8 USB powered CEC control interface too so if you need CEC control with an nVidia based MM/MD then you can use a Pulse-8. See here; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Using_HDMI-CEC_to_Control_Media_DevicesAll the best Andrew

LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Update Available - Support for Rako Lighting Control using TCP or UDP
|
on: March 15, 2013, 10:00:43 am
|
We have added support for IP control of wired & wireless Rako lighting using any of the current TCP/UDP capable Rako bridges. The standard Rako installation and configuration is all that's needed to enable Dianemo to automatically interrogate the Rako installation and pull that setup into Dianemo. If you have a Rako installation already then just add a Rako UDP Bridge or Rako TCP Bridge device to your Devices Tree in Web Admin, fill in the IP address field for the Rako Bridge you are using and do a reload... The Rako Rooms & channels will be automatically imported from the Rako Bridge and if your Room names match those in the bridge Dianemo even automatically creates scenarios for them too. Once you have Rako lights in your system they just work, and are controlled just like any other type of light. If you have other Rako devices eg Blinds, drapes or other controls then they will work too. See the new wiki section here for details; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Rako_Wireless_.26_Wired_Lighting_ControlPlease update your system as usual to get the update.

Any advice at all appreciated, have tried everything I can think of, reset/recreated my z-wave network, checked wiring, tried another new Dimmer module, and exhausted google.
Hmmm... we have some Fibaro modules here. i will see if we can get them installed to so we can see if we can reproduce this. Andrew

I can confirm there is no problem transferring a Dianemo license and software updates etc will continue as normal. Just make sure we know when the sale is completed and who the new owner is.
All the best

LinuxMCE / Marketplace / Re: Dianemo S from CHT - Ubuntu 12.04LTS Release Now Shipping World Wide!

on: February 26, 2013, 03:42:25 pm

Is there a changelog for the last couple of updates.
I think something bad has happened to my mythtv server component, in that my xbmc/openelc front ends can no longer show live tv or recorded tv.
Any way to roll back to test?
Hi Rod, We just install the current MythBuntu package. We don't do anything at all to this package. Nothing else we do or install when installing Dianemo will affect Mythbuntu. So if its broken the only option is to wait for the Mythbuntu guys to fix it in an updated package. So far we have not had any indication of a breakage however. All the best Andrew

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: LinuxMCE Beginner issues- Installing Linux drivers
|
on: February 22, 2013, 04:43:38 pm
|
Techstyle: I will download 10.04, burn it and install VIA DVD. I was wondering when installing and running LinuxMCE, does it run better with Intel or AMD processors? Or does it not make a difference? Also does this new release have more drivers and is there more templates for x10, to be more specific is my X10 CM19A supported?
posde: The sound card is on board, I will try and install 10.04 like Techstyle recommend. If I have a problem with the sound still, I will post more detailed information about the sound card. For now I will have it hooked up to standard desktop speakers. Later on, I will connect it to a 5.1 surround sound system.
I have to get this machine out and give this project another try. I hope this can finally become a successful project. I was reading the wiki before. But it's better to have help from people that are experienced with getting these systems running to their full potential.
Thanks for replying.
Its always a good idea to download a LiveCD of Ubuntu and boot from that. That way you can get a very good idea of how well your hardware will perform once LinuxMCE is installed. All the best Andrew

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Multiple sound cards, selected at random?
|
on: February 22, 2013, 04:38:37 pm
|
Armorgnome,
No need to create any virtual sound card devices for Media Director audio/video, only if you want to use a multichannel analog sound card for multiple squeezeslaves.
J.
If you only have a 5.1 card in your NC or MD and you only want to use stereo audio for your MD audio/video then virtualising your physical sound card is the way to go as it will enable you to have in addition to the stereo audio for your MD two additional stereo outputs for use with Squeezeslaves. This makes much better use of your physical sound card and essentially gets you 'something for nothing' :-) All the best Andrew

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Atom D510 Install - yes im searching now
|
on: February 20, 2013, 02:43:56 pm

Hi. I wrote the installer... and the video/audio detection stuff, and I did so with the intent to support this thing. To my knowledge (if I am remembering the d510 right, it is an intel nettop) nobody has used one of these yet. I would very much like to make it work if you are willing to help me.
This would work best if you dropped into IRC freenode channel #linuxmce
Thanks!
Dual Core Atom cpu with Integrated intel GPU... good for UI1 and should do HDMI audio too. All the best Andrew

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Dianemo S (12.04) GC100 serial port won't save
|
on: February 19, 2013, 02:41:26 pm
|
Hi Andrew.
How do I add the GC100 to the system? In web admin under Interfaces there is an add gc100 button that I have tried but it doesn't detect my GC100. I added it manually last time via a template.
In Web Admin create a child device of your Core. Click the button 'Pick Device template' and in the Window that pops up enter 40 and click on 'Go'. You should now see 'gc100' selected above and if you do then click the 'Pick device template' button to add a new GC100 device to your devices tree. All the best Andrew

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Dianemo S: UpdateMedia is not updating from LMS
|
on: February 18, 2013, 12:26:08 pm
|
Dear Andrew,
now its seems to work. But there are two questions
1. Is it planned to add a "search" again? Which a hughe collection (30000+) MP3s is sometimes hard to scroll to an interpret or album. From my point the search function is missing
2. For audio "search by genre" works. There is a image and the text. If you do the same in video mode, there is only the image, withouth any text. Will there be a fix for that?
BR
Marc
Hi Marc, Yes we do plan extend the 'search' capabilities in a future update to the LMS package. The video search uses the existing search mechanisms and as far as i know this is working as it always has. Can you provide more detail for No.2 above? Regards Andrew

LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Dianemo S: UpdateMedia is not updating from LMS
|
on: February 15, 2013, 03:10:21 pm

From what i understand, the latest update of UpdateMEdia, should pick up all the informations from LMS. There are several albums existing in LMS, but do not display in Orbiter.
If i take a look at the webadmin, the files are recognized, but all attributes are missing. In LMS everything is fine. an manual updatemedia through shell or through Webadmin, doesn't bring up any news.
The latest update (released 13 Feb at about 15-00 GMT) actually contains a complete re-engineering of how audio works in the Dianemo system. We now use LMS to scan for all audio media and not UpdateMedia (UpdateMedia is still used to manage and maintain the meta data for video content though). Please read the Update announcement and the relevant updated wiki sections; http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,8880.msg95073.html#msg95073After the update LMS handles all audio discovery, playback, cover art & meta data and playlist creattion and editing as well. So if you rip using Dianemo or you purchase non DRM'd audio from any online service it will work as you expect it too. In addition if you are an iTunes user then we tightly integrate with your iTunes now including dynamically updating both the music library & playlists directly from iTunes in near real time. Give it a try... its nice :-) Andrew
