Developers / Re: Supporting the ACT Solutions ZCU201 USB Z-wave Interface
« on: January 25, 2008, 02:50:02 pm »
On the same note, since it is possible to send some custom commands with LMCE, is there any way to get info - even manually or the hard way - on the state of the network, routes in place etc ?

Homeseer has a great software that allows you to poll that information, but because it will work only with their own USB controller which uses the US frequencies, no luck to get it here in Europe.

If that's not possible at all with LMCE, is there any chance to have some functionality added to the driver of the ZCU010 ?

If not, are there any other troubleshooting tools or network mapping tools available in europe ?

many questions here, but my z-wave network doesn't work well, and I'd like to dive into it to fix it :)

With a user alias like that, it HAD to be Belgium... Even Liege I would say?   :-)

ok, ok it's off topic.

Just to justify my post in this thread, I also have a dreambox, and I also had to put it back into the cupboard and use a PCI DVB-S card instead :(

I have added another user (Louisa). WHen I change user in the orbiter to Louisa, click media/video and look at the "source" tab, it still shows Sam and not Louisa ! Source "Sam"is always showing up instead of the current user...

Who could point me to where it is stored in the db (I guess)?

NB: user Sam is user_1

Hi Zaerc,

I have a GeForce 7600 GT. I would more think of a problem with the Gyration/mouse hardware or driver. It seems it's sending the info into bulks rather than a continuous stream. I get the problem as well sometimes when I do a brief press (to go into relative control mode), then move the cursor to the right to fast forward the movie. When this happens, I have to press the left button a couple of times and try again, it works.
But absolute controls has never worked with the gyro.

I wonder if the fiirechief has the same problem ?

Users / Re: Keeping folder structure in video lists?
« on: October 15, 2007, 02:13:02 pm »
While viewing the file list, select the leftmost tab. There you can sort the files by artist, genre etc. Usually useless if your videos are not properly tagged. However, there is also an option to sort by "filename". When you select this, you can see the folder structure and navigate it.

I use this all the time for videos...

Files still need to be known in the database though, which happens automatically after a while through UpdateMedia.

Users / Source tab shows wrong user for private data
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:56:04 pm »
I have two users: Sam and Sonja.

When the orbiter is set to user Sam, I can see in the source tab "Public" and "Sam". All ok.

But when I switch the orbiter to user Sonja, in the source tab I still see "Public" and "Sam", instead of "Public" and "Sonja", and the files that are shown when I select "Sam" are indeed those from Sam and not from Sonja.

I have reloaded and done a full-regen of the orbiter.

Any idea ?

Users / Cannot use absolute scrolling with Gyration mouse
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:37:08 pm »
Got a gyration GO air mouse (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Gyration_Go_2.4_air_mouse).

Everything is working fine except absolute controls. From the wiki:

Quote
If you're using UI2's 3 button navigation model, all the normal media control options on the traditional remote are replaced with one button: media (ie the left soft button or F6). Press this and then move the pointer up and down for your skip functions (ie ch+, ch-, skip fwd, skip back), and move the pointer left and right for speed control (ie rewind, fast forward). The further you move, the faster the media playback changes. If you keep the button held down (the left soft button or F6), then your movement is absolute, not relative, and instead of the traditional jog shuttle-type control, moving to the right goes to the end of your media, and moving left to the beginning

Relative controls (one short click on the MEDIA or AMBIANCE button) works fine. If I leave the MEDIA or AMBIANCE (F6 or F8) button pressed to enter obsolute controls mode, for example to find a specific scene in a video file, the prompt on the screen starts blinking and I don't get to the actual scene access feature.

Has anyone got experience with this ?

Users / Re: How to configure analog phone in LinuxMCE
« on: August 23, 2007, 05:33:52 pm »
Hi Michael,

so I assume you have a Digium card, or similar. In that case, they are handled by asterisk through the zaptel driver, and you should be able to configure this from AMP by adding a ZAP extension.

In case you need to troubleshoot in asterisk, you can get more info here.
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+ZAP+channels

In my case the FXS card was automatically detected and pluto had added it as a ZAP trunk. I have not used it in pluto as I moved completely to Voip, but I have been using it successfully for many years on a pure asterisk setup.

Hope this helps,
Sam

Hi Michael,

it depends on the ATA (analog to IP) adapter that you are using. There are several options:
- if you use a sound card in your asterisk, there is a channel in asterisk based on the linux ALSA framework (I think it's called console). It should be added to AMP using the "custom" extension template.
- if you plan to use a PSTN to SIP gateway, like a sipura 1000 or higher, then all you need is to configure a generic SIP phone. You can add it in LMCE or directly in AMP as a SIP extension. A good resource to know what parameters are specific to your ATA or SIP phone is the site http://www.voip-info.org
- there may be other setups, but I haven't tried. How is your doorbell connected ?

Indeed, copying the font files fixed it. I had forgotten to do that after re-flashing to OS2006.
Thanks a million... This is really a superb orbiter    :)

I spoke a bit too quickly. It's working ok, except for text within the orbiter. Example: the title of the songs in the playlists etc are not shown at all. I only get a colored rectangle.

The package initially would not install because of a failing dependency on libsdl-ttf2, although that package was installed. So I had to dpkg -i --force-depends. Anyone else having this problem ?

(the offer for beers still holds though :)

I confirm it works with LinuxMCE 0704  :)

Starting via Xterm showed the error. My WIFI network is on the outside interface of linuxMCE, and I was connecting the orbiter to the outside IP. This works fine with the windows orbiter, but on the 770 I was getting permission errors. I did not realize that there was a direct mysql connection form the orbiter to the core. Changing the destination address to the internal IP of the core fixed the problem.

The latest package worked well on on my OS2007 hacker edition and works also after I reverted to the official OS2006.

Many thanks, Michael, for putting this together. I'd like to send you some Belgian beers as a small gift  :)

I could get rid of the fonts problem by suppressing the need for captions (I guess that was the one asking if I want to create a new orbiter), I just created the orbiter from LMCE web GUI after adding the new resolution to the SQL db as you explain on your blog (I should have RTFM better).

Now I get this:
