Users / Re: Hauppauge MediaMVP as a MD?
« on: October 15, 2007, 05:17:55 pm »
I have booted the mvp from Linuxmce using the instructions from the mvpmc site.
Things you should know.
The user interface is mvpmc not linuxmce. (Would be nice if someone could update the firmware to work with Linuxmce).
I have had limited success playing some videos via mnts.
I have been able to use the music client to play music from linuxmce's slimserver.
MythTv I had problems, may be related to mythtv passwords.
Check the MVPMC site for details on features and functionality. You will be basically be booting and reading media from the Linuxmce box, but the applications (user interface is in the firmware that is loaded on the mvp at boot time.

Good luck

Try running alsamixer and unmute all inputs I think mine was IEC958, and was muted when unmuted Mythtv  has sound.

Good luck

Installation issues / Re: Linux MCE 1.1b2 installation woes...
« on: July 25, 2007, 05:43:17 pm »
Make sure you are using the MCE installer from the CD's Not from the link on the web site, the one the web site is for ubuntu 6.10

If you used the one from the link on the website.
Delete the install script and install the one from the CD.

Good Luck

Installation issues / Re: Core lost IP during installation
« on: July 25, 2007, 05:37:05 pm »
I have experienced this in my many attempts to install LinuxMCE, just go to a terminal and sudo ifdown eth0 and sudo ifup eth0 this should reconnect to internet. If install fails just start it again and it should recover after recopying the CD. It will see the packages that were already downloaded skip them, download what it needs and eventually finish the install.

good luck

It looks like you are using ark to extract the mceinstaller.deb
right click and find your way to install ithink its under the actions menu. Once the mceinstaller pkg is installed you will see another icon on your desktop.

hope this helps

It gets detected and runs the scripts fine it just doesn't work with the channels it sets up. I think it has to do with the transports I saw some posts on the HDHomeRun forum to that effect if I am reading them correctly.

Thanks

Any Pnp device should be connected to to the network that you have the MCE dhcp server  in your case .80 network connect it there and it should be auto detected if  it works like any other pnp device.

Good Luck

The Happauge Media MVP has integration with mythtv, squeezebox support and can boot from linux with mvprelay It would be great to have support for this.

Installation issues / Re: Uhm.. bonus CD?!
« on: May 25, 2007, 03:38:05 am »
LinuxMCE is based on PlutoHome there was (is) a second (bonus cd) for The PlutoHome version. I have tried  (used) PlutoHome for almost a year. It seems most or all problems from the current version of PlutoHome have carried over to LinuxMce 1.0 and are begining to be addressed in LinuxMCE 1.1  It will be great product if the bugs are ironed out.

If you want Tv and media only I have had great luck with KnoppMyth. Not anything nearly as feature rich as LinuxMCE but works good for what it does.

Users / 1.1 Whish list

It sure would be nice if LINUXMCE 1.1 has:

1.  working mythTV
2.  working HDHOMERUN support
3.  working AVERMEDIA A180 HD Tuner support
4.  working playlist support
5.  working play all support
6.  working support for stream zap remote.

I know some of these are pluto issues which should be resolved in their next version and I am biased for this hardware because I own it.
I have found some work arounds for some of these issues but  the goal is "It just works" is what the project is striving for isn't it.

I would be happy to do any testing with above hardware.

Thanks for  a great project
