1  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: No Media from Network sources on: April 08, 2007, 12:51:16 pm
I searched the forums and found 2 threads about this problem. The first one tells me to add a "symbolic link" to detect the media. I can't image what this should be but heres a quote:
Quote
So, if you have a hard drive on your LMCE box with media you can get it to show up inside video folder like this:

cd /home/public/data/videos

sudo ln -s /media/hda5 ./hda5

And heres the link to the thread:
http://forum.linuxmce.com/index.php?topic=1347.0

And there was another thread, that refered to the wiki:
http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Usage_Intro

But I cant find there any information that is relevant for me. They're talking about "public/private" configuration of the files the whole time, not how to make the media visable first.

I hope somebody can tell me more precisely what I have to do...

Hi,

The HTPC has a working network connection and the video files from the pc's are shared over the network. But LinuxMCE does not find any video files in the network. I don't have any files on the HTPC now, so I cant say if it can show any media files. I only know that dvds are show in the menu without problems...

Hi,
I have a login problem with LinuxMCE. When switching into the console with strg+alt+f1, there's the "dcerouter login", but I cant type anything. Whatever I type, the login doesn't work. There is always the message "Ubuntu 6.10 decrouter login tty1" and nothing happens. When I reboot and switch in the console again it works, but the next time I have the same problem again. Its really annoying...
