Developers / Asterisk - chan_zap support missing ???
« on: October 18, 2007, 12:09:54 am »
I have built the zaptel modules myself for use with asterisk in LMCE. However, zap commands and support appear to be missing from LMCE asterisk.

after installing zaptel modules, zttools, ztcfg all work fine and display the zap channel information as expected. However, when I access the asterisk CLI and try to execute any zap command, I get a message that states zap .... is not recognized. Asterisk also will not detect calls received or initiated on the zap channel. Zap command also do not appear in the asterisk help list of commands.

reload generates the message "No such module '"

This is usually a sign that the chan_zap module was not built with/into asterisk.
Is there a way to rebuild LMCE asterisk with support for the chan_zap module?

Users / Has anyone been able to get PSTN / POTS services working?
« on: September 22, 2007, 08:23:05 am »
I am trying to set up analog phones using a FXO card.
But I think Zaptel drivers are not installed.

zttools and ztcfg commands both fail with "command not found"
this would normally imply that zaptel is not installed.

If anyone has zaptel working with analog phones, could you please share your experience in setting it up.

Installation issues / FYI: Cant' istall using apt-get (SOLUTION)

I'm not posting for help, but more for anyone else who might come across this.
I believe I found a sort of bug, but more of a left over from the port from pluto or ubuntu versions.

after installing LMCE, the sources list for apt are replaced and contain a line pointing to the sources CD for Ubuntu Dapper 6.06.

as long as this line is active, it will prompt you to insert the dapper sources disc when using apt.

I am going to assume that this is an oversight and should be removed in a future fix. A work around is to simply comment out the line from the sources.list file, or remove the reference line completely.

Users / Media Director appears to shut down during PXE boot [RESOLVED]
« on: September 01, 2007, 10:31:24 pm »
Previously, I had a Pluto system running pretty much trouble free.
after the release of the latest LMCE, I thought i'd give it another try.

I set up the core and got all my lighting set up and have been using it that way for a couple weeks.

Now when PXE boot Dell 8200 (which worked flawlessly with pluto) it goes through the boot, sets itself up (packages etc) then it appears that the screen shuts down. I get no response from it at all unless I hit the power button which brings the screen back briefly and turns the system off.

The last lines that I can see say something about starting helper script and ending helper script. it's right after the ending helper script message that this is happening.

I have never seen this happen before.
Any suggestions about how to sort this out?

Users / Wizard | Lighting Scenarios question [RESOLVED]

when I add a custom scenario on the "Wizard | Lighting Scenarios" page, there are "U" and "D" buttons generated. Can anyone tell me what function they serve?   ???

Users / LinuxMCE focus for the future?
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:14:19 pm »
From what I have seen in the forums so far, it seems that the majority of information and interest seems to revolve around the media features and functions of LinuxMCE. My question is, will there be a continued focus and development of the software outside of the "MCE" for example telephony (asterisk), security, lighting, and overall home control? The "whole" package is what attracted me to PlutoHome and drove my decision to try it out over other HA systems. I am also interested is LinuxMCE as a "more open" solution but only if it will continue on the same Whole-house path.

I'd appreciate any feedback.
