Take a look at the Apex Alarm, you should be able to find all that info from the GSD template.

I personally think this defeats the purpose.. You could use this to broadcast out to a ATSC tuner, but without the MD near, you lose all the features like follow me, and the like..
IMHO, the idea is to have MD's all over.  There are many component to cat5 baluns around that will basically do the same thing as this device..

If anyone wants to donate a VFD for testing, I'm very familiar with GSD/Ruby coding and I don't think it would take too much effort.
It needs either a serial or USB interface... and documentation...

« on: June 07, 2008, 02:36:03 am »
Hi Dan,

I am in Ottawa. I am currently copying codes into a Pronto Codeset - 6000. I am trying to get all the codes lined up with the naming convention provided when you click add more options in the I/R group. It would be good I think if we had under that selection an AV-SAT grouping etc... for instance the 6000 provides SD/HD on two different video outputs component or RGB(VGA HD-15) I have running to the rcvr then tv and then I have SD running into the pvr150 on the core. but I am not sure under what heading I should put that pronto code into. SD/HD switch.

There is also a box in the device window which says port/channel number - is this referring to the port on the MS MCE Ir dongle of which there are 2 of course.
As for your SD/HD situation, I'm not sure exactly what your doing, but here may be a tip:
Try creating 2 different devices, one for HD, and one for SD, then you can route your connections seperately.. the only downside is that the system would think you have 2 tuners, and allow simultaeneous tuning on both.

The other option is to add a new DCECommand in the Outputs section.... I'm not sure exactly how you have your system wired..

As to the box in the device window which says port/channel number.. umm, which device? heh

and I doubt it is referring to the ports on the MS MCE IR Dongle, normally that is for device identification purposes..
I use Port/Channel number in my Insteon driver for the Insteon ID, however, it's a standard devicedata, so it's particular use can vary greatly.

Please draw us a better picture of your setup, try to make it as clear as mud :)

Dan

just an FYI,

The Fiire Chief's have a GYRO, not an accelerometer..  similar, but different.

We had a nice talk with IBM at Linuxtag, they have a project ongoing with PS3's (the cell processor)

It's too early to say for sure, but we MAY get access to a IBM Bladeserver with the same processor as a PS3, but LOTS more memory..

If that's the case, I can see a fully functional MD coming to the PS3 very quickly

Hari has done some work on the PS3, but due to the limited RAM, compiling takes for EVER...

I agree with Thom,

Ideally, the HADesigner is clunky, but it does allow for multiple display types..

From watching Thom's screencasts, it's pretty apparent that trying to regraft XML into the multi heirachy of the current database would be a futile effort.

I highly suggest watching some of those screencasts.. they are *REALLY* helpful, and also show you WHY HADesigner is the way it is...

Hello Dave,

Welcome to another Canadian eh!
I experienced some problems with LIRC too, but a reboot of the core seemed to fix it... I am using 2 USB UIRT devices...

Where abouts are you from in Canada?  I'm from Calgary, but currently I'm in Berlin... left over from Linuxtag... hehe

Hope that helps,
Also, if you can't get anywhere, try coming into IRC, chances are someone there can help you..
freenode.net/linuxmce

Cheers!

Hello malarie.  There are a bunch of wiki pages to help you with that.

search for Home Automation at wiki.linuxmce.org

Depending on where you are, there are different choices.. X10 is a very old protocol, and although it's cheap, it doesn't work near as well as xwave or Insteon..
If you are in Europe, you can get PLCBUS, which is a middle ground between X10 and Zwave..

Well guys,

As far as linuxMCE being ready for PRIME TIME, Our booth won TOP BOOTH at LinuxTAG!
We won a Nokia N810, then drew straws for it,
TSCHAK won the n810 (he deserves it)

they hinted at next year, us having 2 booths :)

well, if it's not ready for prime time, I'll eat my shorts.

Aaron,

I really like the power of the Ruby in the current system... however, I do recognise your predicament.

My drivers are all in Ruby, so I'd have to rewrite them in LUA... and learn LUA...

I may end up learning C++ first though :)

In the End, as long as there is a good scripting language, I don't really care what it is... The only benefit of ERb is that there's a lot of support already written for it.

max,

If you can find a Caddx NX-6 and send it to me, I'll integrate it, if possible.
I'm going to dig into this a bit to see if I can find protocol information...
