There is an another interesting plug PC - Stratus++. It has built-in Z-Wave adapter. So, you don't need to buy USB one. Hari, how you control your GuruPlug? Do you have some GUI for that?

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Android Touch Orbiter

Out of interest (this is a question for Thom I guess), why is the N800 orbiter so responsive (in terms of volume control, skipping forward/back, any repetitive button presses) in comparison to the touch orbiters? Also the N800 ALWAYS displays the correct screen, in that it never needs to be refreshed - is there some fundamental reason for this?
I assure you this isn't a dig at your work darrenmason, I am just curious.
Cheers, Matt.
N800 Orbiter is a port of SDL onscreen Orbiter. And it doesn't have any relations with Touch Orbiter. That's why you can see some different between them.

gtsupport, I am curious if and how you got HD up and running I own an Atom system myself and while it runs SD as sunshine the HD part I still haven't covered. To run HD on Atom box you should have a strong graphics, i. e. nVidia ION. Because it'll decode video instead of CPU. Guys, who own some Zotac boxes, can you tell me if they have some fan inside? And if so how noisy they are?

Andrew, can you explain briefly how UPnP controlling work, please? I. e. let's assume we have core/hybrid, Boxee Box and Web 2.0 Orbiter. As I understand the Boxee Box will be added to the system as UPnP device. What next? How we can control it via Orbiter? Is there some special screen for that?

What about the noise? I was under impression that it doesn't have any fans at all.
Also I'm interesting to know is it possible to power on that box from wireless keyboard?

LinuxMCE / Users / Problem to run VLC from Computing screen
|
on: February 09, 2011, 09:41:35 pm
|
Hi, I need to run VLC from Computing menu to watch online stream. But it doesn't start because it's tried to run under root but it's not allow: VLC is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry. If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root and cannot be run by non-trusted users first). Does anybody knows how to solve that? Thanks in advance.

I like [ur=http://www.theenergydetective.com/ted-5000/featuresl]TED 5000[/url]. It can work as standalone system and display all info on its LCD monitor module. Also it can be integrated with home automation system or Google PowerMeter. Unfortunately it uses ZigBee and not Z-Wave.

LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Playing .mkv in xine_player - how to show subtitles?
|
on: January 05, 2011, 01:12:38 pm

Hi Vagner, Possibility to change audio track in AVI/MKV video and switch on/off subtitles is one of the most important features missed in LinuxMCE. Currently you can use following command on your core to change the audio track: /usr/pluto/bin/MessageSend localhost 0 23 1 140 5 "<track number>" 41 "" Audio track number can be 0, 1, 2 etc. To show subtitles the subtitle's file should have the same name as video file, i. e. video-file.avi.srt. Also have a look this instruction about changing xine.conf.
