Users / Re: Trying to add in a 2nd automount HDD (Hard Drive)

Firstly dont edit fstab yourself on your Core... let the system auto detect/mount your drives. If you add them manually you will just creat problems for yourself.

Use the Ext3 line from this Wiki page to prepare your new drive(s) http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_should_I_format_additional_hard_drives.3F

After the steps above reboot and then allow your Core to detect the new partition... this can take 10 mins or so.

All the best

Andrew
For internal HDD and NAS the autodetection and automounting work perfect in 0810. But I had a problem with USB HDD. It was detected and added by the system. But sometimes I cannot access it. Even from terminal when run ls it freezes till I kill the process. So, I just delete the device from LinuxMCE, create manually symlink in the public/data/video and audio and mount it by usbmount. It works perfect except two things - content is available only on core and not on MD, you cannot rip CD/DVD on that drive.

Nice work! I thought about replacing Ubuntu splash screen by some LinuxMCE logo long time ago. But I'm too lazy to do something like you :) Thanks!

Users / Re: subtitles and audio settings .mkv
« on: August 27, 2010, 10:52:39 am »
I also would like to see that feature in the LinuxMCE. Currently it's possible to change audio track if movie is played by Xine using that command in terminal on your core or MD:
Code: [Select]
/usr/pluto/bin/MessageSend localhost 0 23 1 140 5 "<track number>" 41 ""i.e for the track number 1 in should be that command:
Code: [Select]
/usr/pluto/bin/MessageSend localhost 0 23 1 140 5 "1" 41 ""Note that using this command you can change audio track in AVI file as well.
For the mplayer it's possible to use keyboard shortcut # to switch between available audio tracks and b and j to change subtitles. Xine also has shortcuts but they don't work in LinuxMCE - + and - for switching between audio tracks, . (dot) and , (comma) - to change subtitles.

Still cannot run any computing application. Any idea how to fix it or at least how to debug it?

Users / Use device status in the scenario
« on: August 27, 2010, 10:42:08 am »
Hi,

I'm trying to create a scenario which uses some device status in the condition. For example, I have X10 switch and motion sensor. I'd like to switch ON light when the sensor is tripped (it's easy) and switch is OFF. I checked the advanced scenario editor but didn't find possibility to add desired device status there. Maybe I missed something?

Any help will be very appreciated.

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Meego (was: Attitude of COOPERATION.)

Thanks, Posde, for clarification. Personally I like solution with proxy orbiter suggested by Andrew. IMHO it looks more universal then MeeGo port.

I confuse a bit. We're going to port Orbiter to MeeGo or next release of LinuxMCE will be on MeeGo platform?

is anyone else still having problems with just some mkv or mp4s? is there any way I can add newer containers to the compatibility list?
I don't have any MKV file I cannot play now with LMCE. What about you?

As I know the easyCAP DC60+  works on Linux (Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx). You can try to setup it under 0810.

Users / Computing applications not run
« on: August 04, 2010, 05:18:34 pm »
Hi,

I cannot run any computing application (bookmarks work fine) on 0810. Even MythTV setup. A few months ago I added Skype and it worked without any problem. Now  I can see just a short blink after pressing to specified app. Any idea how to fix that or at least where to see the log?

Thanks in advance.

how do I apply that update?

Run it on your core and MDs:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Looks like the latest update fixed the problem with MKV playback and didn't break VDR. Excellent work!

Developers / Re: Project VLC
« on: July 30, 2010, 01:48:55 pm »
I'm also trying to use VLC to watch IPTV. It's possible to integrate it with VDR using IPTV plugin. But there are two problems in my case. The IPTV operator doesn't offers play-lists and it supports VLC version 1.0.0 and higher.  Ubuntu 8.10 includes old version. So, I need somehow build the latest one. Bulek, do you ru VLC on LinuxMCE server? If so, what version do you use?

Find the orbiter in questions and the option 'Seconds before screen saver'

I cannot find such option on the Orbiter's page. There is just Timeout with two values - 600 and 600. Is that one?

Kevin Warwick aka Captain Cyborg from the University of Reading decided to implant an RF tag under his skin

Sounds scary. What next? Gigabit Ethernet or WiFi chip? IMHO to switch media from one room to another it's enough to press two buttons on the remote. Or maybe I'm too old ;)
