Users / Problem to run VLC from Computing screen

Hi,

I need to run VLC from Computing menu to watch online stream. But it doesn't start because it's tried to run under root but it's not allow:

VLC is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry.
If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports
you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root and
cannot be run by non-trusted users first).
Does anybody knows how to solve that?

Users / VDR and IPTV plugin

Hi,

Does somebody use VDR with IPTV plugin? I downloaded and built IPTV plugin version 0.4.2. But after copy binary to the VDR lib directory and restarting VDR it started restart continuously. Any idea why?

Users / Use device status in the scenario

Hi,

I'm trying to create a scenario which uses some device status in the condition. For example, I have X10 switch and motion sensor. I'd like to switch ON light when the sensor is tripped (it's easy) and switch is OFF. I checked the advanced scenario editor but didn't find possibility to add desired device status there. Maybe I missed something?

Any help will be very appreciated.

Users / Computing applications not run

Hi,

I cannot run any computing application (bookmarks work fine) on 0810. Even MythTV setup. A few months ago I added Skype and it worked without any problem. Now  I can see just a short blink after pressing to specified app. Any idea how to fix that or at least where to see the log?

Users / LIRC daemon doesn't start

Could somebody post a command to start lircd. You can see it by running ps command:

Users / TT-Budget/WinTV-NOVA-CI PCI DVB-S card doesn't work with the latest v4l2-modules

Hi,

After the latest upgrade of v4l2-modules I have two problems. First of all I cannot boot my core. Only after disconnection of USB HDD, webcam and CM11A interface it boot successfully. The second problem is the DVB-S card TT-Budget/WinTV-NOVA-CI PCI doesn't work anymore (it worked before without any problems and works fine under 0710). VDR gives the frontend error continiously. I replace it by  Technisat SkyStar2 DVB card (rev 02) and it works fine.

Installation issues / Problem to use Zotac GT 220 PCI-e in 0810

Hi,

I'm trying to use GT 220 PCI-e in my core/hybrid. It already has built-in GF-8300 but it doesn't work correctly with VDPAU. When I choose HDMI output, 1080p and 60Hz in the AVWizard I see the message 'Unsupported signal' on the TV screen. That's really strange because even GF-8300 supports 1080p/60Hz. This is a fresh installation. I saw that nVidia card was detected and drivers were installed. Any idea how to solve that problem?

Hi,

When I added a new application to the computing screen I found there the script TED_VNC.sh. As I understand it's needed to integrate energy monitor TED and LinuxMCE. This is a cool feature but I cannot find anywhere the scrip itself. Does somebody knows anything about that?

Users / [0810] USB HDD is recognized as CM15A

Hi,

I made a fresh 0810 installation  using scripts. The system is up to date. But when I attach the USB HDD it's recognized by system as CM15A (screen to add new device offers actually two options - CM15A or X-Arcade TankStick). Any idea how to fix that? Maybe I should to update my system via sqlCVS?

Installation issues / Problems with integrated GF 8300, 0810 and nvidia drivers

Hi,

Looks like nvidia-195 drviers cause some problems with my integrated GF8300. I made a fresh 0810 installation yesterday. Good news: I was able set 1080p and passed audio via HDMI. Bad news: video jerked and froze and audio was lost time to time (tested it with VDR only). Then I switched to analog audio back. The VDR picture became better but still with problems. With vdpau acceleration it was some delay in playback time to time but the CPU loading was just 6%! Without vdpau (xv) the picture started flickering. Does somebody use successfully GE8300 with vdpau under 0810?

I'm going to check Xine and Mplayer playback tonight and possible re-install previous version of nvidia drivers using installer.

Developers / Adding phpsysinfo to the admin site

Hi,

I just found an open source project - phpsysinfo, which can be interesting for LinuxMCE users. It shows system info on the web page. So, it can be easily embeded into admin page to provide users a way to see system information without ssh to the core.

If somebody interested to have phpsysinfo in the admin site I can add it easily. What do you think?

Users / Disable screen saver during playback flash video

Hi,

Currently the only one way to watch flash video - Youtube, Google Video etc inside LinuxMCE is using web browser in the Computing. It isn't a problem. But screen saver which is activated after ~5 minutes is a problem. So, is there some way to tell screen saver do not start if menu Computing is chosen, for example, of some its submenu item?

Installation issues / [Solved] KDM login prompt is loaded before Orbiter starts

Hi,

After last update of 0810 when hybrid core boots Orbiter doesn't start. Instead of that the KDM login prompt is showed on the screen. After success login as linuxmce the Orbiter starts but inside KDE.

Any idea how to solve that?
