Feature requests & roadmap / power management on the display.
« on: April 10, 2007, 09:39:39 pm »
Is there a way to tell the director to switch off the display after some kind of timeout when no user input is detected. Obviously this should not kick in if TV or video is selected but if the box is doing nothing or just broacasting some music/radio, it would be nice for the box to switch of the display until the remote keyboard is hit (like your computer does ...). This would be power friendly ...

For now the box go and get the pictures on flikr. This is quite nice but getting the same picture with your own picture would be really good.

Is this planned?

Would it be possible to add one "media" type such as internet radios (in addition to TV, Video, Audio, ...).

quite a few radio are broadcasting on the internet. How can we get these audio stream to the "Media Directors".

Feature requests & roadmap / RTSP video input stream support
« on: April 10, 2007, 09:28:23 pm »
Where I live (France) we have various internet boxes that allow to get most of our TV channels over ADSL. In particular the box provided by my ISP is allowing to stream multiple RTSP stream on any PC on the house network (limited by the ADSL bandwith we have).

VLC is known to handle these streams quite well (mplayer is doing an OK job but not as well as VLC). So how difficult would it be to get this integrated to MythTV and/or LinuxMCE.

Obviously the idea is to be able to record things on the "core" to later provide them to any "Media Directors". Being able to associate an EPG would be nice as well as being able to plan for recording.

Users / can't rip DVD
« on: April 01, 2007, 09:15:38 pm »
I can't rip DVD from linuxMCE. When I try to do so, I get the following message:

"You can only rip media stored on a CD/DVD drive."

Note that linuxMCE is able to detect when the DVD is inserted and play it automatically. Only the "copy DVD" feature seems to fail.

Any idea on what I can try to get things going?
