Users / Re: Samba woes.
« on: April 13, 2007, 03:27:59 am »
Thanks for the info, got my port forwarded.  However, I'm running into some samba issues as well and I hope its ok to just add this to your thread instead of just making a new one.  I want to be able to write to any folder within my public folder.

I started taking a look at the smb.conf file.  So far I've added the 'guest ok = yes' option under [public] and i've changed 'security = user' to 'security = share'.  I then restarted the samba daemon.  But apparently I still can't drop files from my Suse 10.2 box to my LinuxMCE box.  Its giving me an "Error "Access Denied" while copying ..." Has anyone run into this before?  Here's my smb.conf:

Installation issues / Re: Why only vesa?

has anyone else tried going into the admin page, going to media director, and selecting the core/hybrid to GeForce?  I think the core tries to download nvidia-glx and i assume configure it.  Course I doubt you'd get anywhere though.

I'm having the same issue.  Grey screen with UI2 + AB and it goes back to the main screen with UI1.

I've been messing around with the mythtv frontend settings, but I keep getting the message saying that MythTV cannot connect to the main backend.  What should the ip address be for the mythtv-setup page?  Is it the dhcp server that LinuxMCE makes when installing?  Is there a way to find out exactly what that is?  I installed the media director on the same core.

hmm i did a reinstall and now i'm now getting the issue.  not sure what it could've been, but now i don't see the issue so i dunno.  gl to others out there tho.  =\

Ok I posted a link to my log file (filesize a little bit too big).  I only included what happened earlier.  The log incorporates me turning on my computer, letting LinuxMCE start up, and the error showing up.  Right after that I made the log and uploaded it (it said I already made a post so I couldn't post until now).  I installed it as a core+hyrbrid and told it to start up LinuxMCE at startup.

Oh and btw my ra0 works fine (wireless card that connects to the internet).  LinuxMCE apparently installed a dhcp server on eth0 which is my onboard ethernet card.  That sounds kinda weird to me so right now I'm in the process of installing without a dhcp server.  So anyway, here's my log.  Maybe can make heads or tails of it.

thanks k84!  it worked for me.  :)

well not at first, but I did a reinstall and right before I restarted the ubuntu box after installing linuxmce I made sure to edit that file.  once i rebooted i ran through the wizard and I successfully choose UI2.
